Results – KGSAAS – 29th August 2011

16 Cannons teed it up at KGSAAS for the August Medal on another cool morning. After prolonged overnight rain the course was a bit soggy in parts and with some standing water Winter Rules were called. Light rain was still falling as we got started but this soon cleared and the sun came out on the back 9 but with a light breeze the conditions were near perfect. The course too was in fair nick but the greens were a little bumpy.
One wonders how long this course will remain an option with the owners in receivership and one of the 9’s doomed to housing development our playing days at this lovely Thompson layout may be limited.
Hans Berger, playing on his home course, was the winner with 40 points off the stick plus 3 bonus points and the runner-up was Andrew Robinson with 39 + 3. Lowest gross was 83 by Geoff Parslow and the most golf was played jointly by George & Vincent.
The M&M and prize giving was again at the Annex which didn’t meet with the approval of everyone but it’s good value and convenient for most. And as is usual, it was advertised ahead of time.
