12 LC members gathered at Staffield this morning. It’s a good course to play during the wet season and that proved to be right again today. Only downside: the greens were not in great shape. Weather helped a lot to make it a very pleasant round of golf and we all got back around midday. Highlight of the day…………Mike shot a hole in 1 on West number 8 so the F&B bill for the day was more than covered as well as his whiskey and beer stock for the coming months. He had to do some paperwork to secure the ringgits. Well done Mike and an exciting moment.

Surprisingly the mystery prize for today was the 1st hole in one of the day and Mike was rewarded with the beautiful LC’s cap. A welcome back to Graham who also played his 100th game for LC’s today good for some contribution to the kitty that we will spend wisely next week. A LC’s towel was his reward. Thanks Graham!

The early morning looked a bit wet and rainy but it all turned out great. Only 11 members gathered at Staffield to play some golf. It stopped raining and the sun came out so no worries there. Tee off was around 8am and although a bit soggy at some spots the course was in a great condition. Worthwhile mentioning we had to wait for Tony and call him to tee-off; first time ever………… We had a fairly quick round and all getting back by midday.

The monthly battle is a close fight between Mike, Siggy and Ricardo. 
Many had to leave straight after the game so we had a small group for lunch this time. We still had a belated present for Andrew’s achievement and presented him a special “500 games” golf shirt. Also Hans got one more present to honor his convener ship; a LC cap with his name and service years on it.

It was an early start today with a 7:30am tee off time at Staffield. We had 15 players show with one last call off from Mike Smith with an injury. The course was quiet and we got off without delay on the Northern and Western nines. Course conditions were good and the weather was good making for a pleasant morning’s golf.

The first group was a 3-ball and they finished by 10:45am so it was an early lunch and some extra beers for them as they waited on the next flight which was some 1hr 10 mins behind. We had a good lunch at the club with some cold beers on special offer (3 jugs for RM148)

Results

We had two players (Stuart & Tony) today on 43 points so it required a countback. They both had 21 points on the back nine (Western) and then both had 15 points on the last 6 holes so it was down to the last 3 holes and Stuart got 8 and Tony 6 so Stuart was the winner. 3rd place was shared between Stan Constantinides and Geoff McLaws both on 37 points. Best gross was Geoff McLaws with a 78 and most gross was Erol with 112. Fill scores below:

It was busy at Staffield today as it was a Selangor Public Holiday and many golfers had travelled here to get the normal golf rates as Staffield was in Negri Sembilan where there was no Public Holiday. However we got off at a reasonable time of around 8:20am despite the large crowds and our round was reasonably unhampered.

Weather conditions were good and rather cool due to all the recent rain which was good. The course was in good condition and the greens running rather quickly making you focus on your putting.

After the game we had lunch on the terrace before a rather large rain storm came in.

Our winner today was Mike Williams with an impressive round of 80 for 41 points. 2nd place was shared between Ted Parslow (83/38) and Iain Wise (94/38). Best gross of the day was Mike Williams with 80. Full results below:

We had 5 full flights today at Staffield Country Resort and started the day on the terrace with a presentation to Aftab Ahmad who is leaving shortly to return to California. He was presented with a pewter Royal Selangor plate which I am sure he will use to eat his breakfast from every day from now! Good luck in California Aftab and hope to see you back here for a visit soon. We also took the opportunity to take a group photograph.

We played the Western and Southern nines today and the course was in good shape as usual, somewhat dry therefore resulting in players hitting longer drives than normal. The greens were good so no complaints on the course at all. Weather was very good and although the weather forecast predicted rain mid-morning we manage to miss this luckily.

After the game we had a good lunch and quite a few cold beers on the terrace.

Our winner this week was Andrew Robinson, returning from a long trip in UK with almost no golf, with an excellent score of 92 for 43 points. Runner up was Aftab Ahmad with a score of 90 for 41 points. Geoff McLaws had best gross of the day with his 76. Full results below:
