Results – Bukit Kemuning – 19th April 2016

With yours truly (Mike Smith) getting out of the wrong side of the bed; taking a phone call while driving, missing the turn and getting lost and arriving late, registration of 19 starters went smoothly enough and we eventually got started off 2 tee boxes only 5 mins late.
The recent dry weather was showing at Bukit Kemuning Golf Resort with yellow, rock hard fairways, some near bare tee boxes and firm, bumpy greens but with buggy on course and their very cheap “Early Bird” promotion this is still a decent venue. Oh and BTW the pin position on the 6th was ridiculous and the talking point at lunch. I wonder how many of us 4 putted this one? The weather was dry and breezy and not unpleasant and we were round in 4 hours.
The winner continuing his recent good form was Geoff McLaws with 76 for 43 points, cut 7 strokes. The runner-up was Hans Berger with 91 for 38 points with Glen Wombwell 3rd with 101 for 37 points. The lowest gross was of course Geoff with his superb 76. The full result is attached.
Lunch was taken at the nearby Mayflower Restaurant where 13 golfers enjoyed an excellent meal washed down with copious quantities of cold Tiger…..and water for Barry who is on a strict diet. Get well soon Barry. Hans Berger celebrated becoming a great granddad by chucking 250 into the lunch kitty. Congratulations Hans.

Results – Amverton Cove – 12th April 2016

After some early morning rain it was a cool start to the day as 23 players headed out from two tee boxes at Amverton Cove. We have seen the course in better condition – there were many bare patches on the fairway and some untidy patches with water hoses all over the place. The greens however were quite good.

We welcomed a new guest of Ian Wise today, Mark Tiernan and warmly welcomed back David Hughes who is over on his annual pilgrimage to KL.

Lunch was taken after the game at the usual seafood restaurant by the bridge on the road back out from the golf club.

Results – KGSAAS – 5th April 2016

19 LC’s teed it up on an unexpectedly quiet morning at KGSAAS in pleasant weather; a tad humid but less hot than the last few days in the Klang Valley.
KGSAAS is usually in good nick and today was no exception. We played Sultan & Alam Shah 9’s and the entire course was well turned out and the greens were near perfect if a little slower than they looked, and the scoring reflected the conditions with an astonishing 17 players bettering their handicap.
The virgin winner was Dave Evans with 93 for 47 points, cut 11. The R/up (after correction) was Greg Mackley with 85 for 46 points with Vincent Vijayan 3rd with 92 for 45 points. The low gross of the day was 77 by Chez and worth a mention was Ted Parslow’s 4 birdies on the back 9.
The full results are attached.
Lunch was taken at the golfers terrace with everyone attending. The grub was OK and at RM30 per head including the beer, quite reasonable. This tells you something. Eating at the club when possible keeps the group together.
Welcome to Nathan Hill-Haimes introduced by Greg Mackley.
