Results – Tasik Puteri – 8th May 2018

We had 21 players today for our game at Tasik Puteri – a rather odd number so we ended up having 4 flights of 4 and a jumbo 5-ball flight at the rear. We all had to start on the Tasik course as there was a competition on the other two nines and then we crossed over to the Puteri course. The weather was perfect with blue skies and even a light cooling breeze making it a pleasant round. The course was in good condition but the greens on the Tasik nine were markedly faster than the greens on the Puteri course.

We finished by 12:30 and then departed for lunch at the Chin Heong Restaurant close to Rawang. Andrew Robinson and Siegmund Maierbrugger who were celebrating birthdays kindly added some cash to the coffers to help out for lunch. Happy Birthday boys!!

With 2 players on a best score of 39 points we had to do a countback with Stuart Taylor and Siegmund Maierbrugger both on 39 points. They had identical back 9’s of 20 points so we had to look at the last 6 holes at which point Stuart was the winner this week. Best gross of the day was Geoff McLaws with a 79. Results – Tasik Puteri – 6th February 2018

With many of our regular players away on the WIGS tour we had only 15 players today at Tasik Puteri. Arriving at the club we were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful new men’s changing room which had been renovated – a huge improvemnt on the old one.

We played the Puteri and Tasik 9’s and immediately noticed at the start that the newly printed scorecards were wrong in that the Puteri and Tasik 9’s both had the same odd indexes so we had to change the Tasik 9 indexes up by 1 to make them even.

The course was in good condition although the greens were slow. The weather was pleasant with some cloud cover giving us some respite from the heat.

After the game we had lunch at Restoran Chin Heong which was attended by 11 players.

Results – Tasik Puteri – 14th November 2017

After some early morning light rain it was a cool morning for our 5 flights teeing off on the Puteri and Putera nines at Tasik Puteri. The course was in good shape but unfortunately the greens on Puteri had recently been hollowtined and were slow and bumpy making for quite a few 3 putts from our players.

We welcomed back Andrew Robinson to the group after his 7 month sabatical to recover from his broken leg. We also saw the return of an old face with Peter Barker joining us again after a 2 year hiatus.

After the game we had lunch at the club which was as usual disappointing with poor food and bad service. The general consensus from most players is that we should be using the Chin Heong Chinese Restaurant closeby to the club which offers much better quality and value …. a note for future games here.

Results – Tasik Puteri – 22nd August 2017

IMG_5130There were 5 flights today at Tasik Puteri and we all got off efficiently on the Putera and Puteri 9’s at 8:00am sharp. Weather was good, rather cool and overcast for the first hour or so making it a pleasant morning. The course was looking a little more scruffy than it usually does with overgrown tee boxes and various patches of long grass and GUR on the fairways. The greens were good though and provided some putting challenges on some of the holes.

We had lunch at the club after the game and as usual the food was rather ordinary and took a long time to come for many of us. I would recommend we return to the usual Chin Heong Restoran Chinese Restaurant at this venue the next time.

Results – Tasik Puteri- 4th July 2017

There were 5 full flights today for our first game of July at Tasik Puteri. We played the Tasik and Puteri 9’s and got off almost without a delay …… only small hiccup was on saddling up in the buggies Kevin Wiggins could not find his clubs … he eventually checked his car and there they were …. as on his arrival at the club they had taken out his daughter’s small set of clubs instead of his ones. We should have insisted he played with those!

The course was in good condition and quite dry making it conjusive for some good scores. Greens were on the slow side.

We had planned after the game to have lunch at Restoran Chin Heong Rawang in Rawang but as the chef was sick we stayed on at the club and took lunch there …. apart from the very late arrival of my kung po chicken dish all went well.

Results – Tasik Puteri – 28th March 2017

IMG_3202

We had 6 full flights at Tasik Puteri this morning for the monthly trophy game for March 2017. We all got off from two tee boxes on Puteri and Putera promptly at 8:00am after an efficient check in. Weather was good and the course, although a little wet in places, was in pretty good shape. By the end of the round it was getting hot but we all finished by around 12:30 with no hold ups which was good.

We had lunch at the usual Chin Hiong Restaurant back on the road towards Rawang for the prize giving. Stuart Taylor, having notched up 200 games with the group, kindly donated RM200 to the pot towards lunch and beers.

Results – Tasik Puteri – 31st January 2017

Will this wet weather never end? Tasik is one of the driest courses we play yet even here the course was very soggy with buggies restricted to the cart paths on most holes. But despite the soft conditions the course played well as reflected by the scores.

28 starters teed it up promptly on the Puteri & Putera 9’s in overcast and cool conditions. Light rain started to fall towards the end of the round but didn’t hold up play.

The winner of the first Trophy Game of 2017 was Tom Holmes (enjoying an extra days holiday) with 85 for 40 points. Tom, you are cut 4 strokes. Runner-up OCB was Charles Blanchet with 90 for 38 points from Martin Walsh 83 for 38. The lowest gross was 80 by Geoff McLaws.

Welcome back David Hughes for his regular 3 months break from the frozen north.

Lunch was at Restoran Chin Hiong attended by 25 of us. The beer was cold and the food expensive but good. Expected I suppose given the festive season but lets make sure we are not being ripped off by some of the places we regularly dine at.

Results – Tasik Puteri – 3rd January 2017

img_1891With everyone arriving on time (it’s amazing what the threat of a fine will achieve) 18 LC’s teed it up on the Puteri & Tasik 9’s at 7:45 and with no one ahead of us and excellent cool weather we were mostly all round in under 4 hours. The course was in good condition; particularly the Tasik 9 where the large greens were very nice.

Despite grumbling about the Tasik 9 (which he say’s he hates) the winner was Ray Funnell with 101 for 41 points (23 points on the Tasik 9!!!). Ray you are cut 5 strokes. Runner-up OCB was Tony Morris with 90 for 41 ahead of Ricardo Castro and Kevin Wiggins who both recorded 39 points. The lowest gross was 80 by Geoff McLaws.

Lunch was at the ever reliable Chin Hiong with 16 of us enjoying good grub and plenty of amber nectar. Ray couldn’t make lunch (which was just as well as he would have got a lot of stick) so his RM50 went into the pot. Thanks Ray.
