KOTA SERIEMAS REPORT-21-07-2026

Cannon’s,

We teed off early with two flights at Kota Seriemas. Marc overslept and had to miss the first hole…..

Always a very nice and attractive course, and at the same time not easy at all. The weather was very pleasant, the fairways and tees were in a very good condition. The greens were true and fast. Most of them were difficult to read, in particular when the pin was placed at a sloping part of the green.

The one problem with playing here is that they allow many jumbo flights. When we crossed over, we had to wait and wait and wait. The marshall told us that there were 6 (!!) jumbo flights in front of us. On top of that there was a flight with 6 buggies with a teacher, teaching children how to play golf. Although I agree that this is needed, and: one of the crucial rules is to avoid slow play….(Maybe a club to avoid if they still keeping this Jumbo crap policy).

So our second nine took about 1 hour longer than the first. Enough for Iain to pack his bag and go to the restaurant.

Anyway, we had an enjoyable lunch in Nilai, where we missed Roland, but he left a generous amount for celebrating his birthday. Thanks Roland and a very belated Congratulations!!

The scores were good this week with Jan on the third place with 31 points, Fritz second with 33 points and the winner was David Evans with a smashing 37 points!! Well done Dave, for you no difficult greens !

With these results, David Evans is now leading the monthly competition with 70 points, followed by Fritz Katzengruber with 66 and Reinli Tan with 62.

next week we will play Bukit Beruntung.

Cheers

AMVERTON COVE REPORT-14-07-2026

Cannon’s,

It was a great day to play golf at Amverton Cove. The sun didn’t show itself at all, and we even had a couple of spots of rain during the game.

We were with two flights (7 players) and we teed off earlier than planned which was very good. Actually always a strong possibility at Amverton Cove. Normally a very good course to play, however today the greens were not in a very good condition. Variability in quality and speed made it not easy to get good scores today.
And you can see that from the scores: Fritz was the winner today with 33 points, together with David Evans. However Fritz had a better second nine, so he is the official winner of the day. Reinli was third with 31 points. Reinli and David choose to play from the white tees and the rest from blue.

We had a good lunch (a bit spicy this time!) in the trusted restaurant next to the bridge to Carey Island. Fritz wasn’t present so no free lunch today.

Next week we’ll play at Kota seriemas.

SERI SELANGOR REPORT-07-07-2026

Cannon’s,

Six braves Cannon’s played at Seri Selangor with very hot and dry weather. Surprisingly the course was very quite and we were able to start twenty minutes earlier than our schedule tee time and it took less than four hours to finished the round. The course was in neat condition with nice fairways and very well maintained greens even with difficult pin positionS and most of them very fast, reflecting on the scores for everyone increasing the number of puts on every green. Ricardo Castro was the winner, maybe one of the lowest winning scores with only 86 for 29 points, second was Fritz Katzengruber with 102 for 28 points and in third place was Iain Wise and Steve Collins booth with 26 points. After the game five of us had a nice lunch at Beer Factory. Next week lets go to Amverton Cove.

Cheers

Ricardo Castro
