Results – Seri Selangor – 22nd September 2020

A great day to play golf. The weather was very nice to us, not too much sun. The course was a bit soggy on some places, not a surprise after the rain last day. For the rest the course was in good condition, a couple of greens were sanded, but even so very fast. It is a challenging course. When the ball is in the rough, it is not that easy to get it out in a decent way. But a good course, not too far away to travel and easily accessible. So worth while repeating.

The scores were very respectable, although no one equalled or played better than his handicap:

Martin won, (after his long holidays in Langkawi) on count back from Bernhard.Yes, personally I had a lot of problems with the course, which I played for the first time…………….

We had a good lunch in Lavaa, a new restaurant for a couple of us. Also this was a good experience. The mystery prize was for Ricardo with two birdies. Shared with paul, but as Paul was last weeks winner, the choice was for Ricardo.

The monthly competition is led by Josef with 78 points a large margin from Jan and Allan with 71 and Martin with 69. Don’t worry we still have one week to go!Next week we will have our trip to JB with 3 interesting and undoubtedly challenging courses. See you all there!!

Results – Nilai Springs Golf & Country Club – 15th September 2020

Today we welcomed back Paul Geddes, for the first time in Loose Cannons for a long time! Welcome Paul!! He paid us back with a voucher which saved us quite some money on the green fees…👍

The course itself was in a very good condition. We played Mango and Pines, with a difference in the speed on the greens, but for the rest it was very nice to play there. The weather was very good to us, only when playing the last hole the sun came out, which made it hot, but that was only for one hole! If only the management could manage the flights on the course better. I don’t see the purpose of jumbo flights, in particular when they are in between other flights. The cross over from hole 9 to hole 10 gave a lot of waiting time, and of course that took the rest of the game a bit down.

Results

Not so much for Paul, because he had the lowest gross score with 87, which ended him up in the 3rd place with Allan, both with 33 points. The 1st and 2nd place with 34 points went to Tony and Jan, where Jan won on countback on the last nine.

The mystery prize was for Paul. He won the real and only Loose Cannons cap, because he just came back and his generous donation for the day.

Results – Amverton Cove Golf & Island Resort – 8th September 2020

A beautiful day to play golf on a beautiful and excellent golfcourse! That is in short the summary of today’s Loose Cannons (with a small group) outing. The weather was certainly with us, not too much sun and a regular breeze to cool down even further. Now we know why so many of us are going to an island! The course itself was in a pristine condition.

We teed off from the blue tees a bit earlier than agreed because there was nobody on the course anyway. Why we couldn’t tee off earlier than 8.30, don’t ask me. The girl behind the counter didn’t know either…..Anyway, the greens were in an excellent condition, and also the fairways. The course was dry, so that gave an extra roll to the balls. sometimes very welcome, sometimes not, because suddenly water came into play!

We enjoyed lunch in I Suka, for the LC’s a newcomer. Certainly worth while to keep this in our list. A better quality food, and sitting at the same water as the other one.

Siggy was the only one playing better than his handicap. He mastered the course best of us.

The mystery prize this week was for Brian and earned a sleeve of balls. He had the lowest gross on the first nine. The fact that he ended on the shared third place, says a lot about his second nine 😁.

The monthly prize is headed by Jan (69), followed by Brian (67) and Allan (65). But still a long way to go, another 3 games!

Results – Bukit Beruntung Golf & Country Resort – 1st September 2020

Way up North this time to Bukit Beruntung, for many of us a new experience. And it was a pleasant one. Most LC’s agreed that this course is worthwhile playing again. Arriving there is quite impressive since the club house is a bit of a royal experience with the size of the palace of Versailles We started early morning before 8:00 am; smooth registration, perfect weather and nobody in front of us.

The course is good quality and not always easy with some narrow challenging fairways. Most greens run well and true. Besides that it is very good value for money with a green fee of only RM 75, including some drinks.

After the game we had lunch in Chinese restaurant “Full Moon”. Also worthwhile repeating. Good food at reasonable prices. Our beer manager Brian was very active today securing the cold supplies aka Tiger.

Results

The winner today showed some supernatural powers and a drugs test has been requested: Josef with one of his best games ever 85/45. Second place today Allan with a fine 97/38, followed by Jan with 95/37. See full list below.

We wrapped up August and presented the monthly medal to winner Hans. He also got a sleeve for playing most of his shots on the buggy track today.
Iain is still leading the annual ranking after August but since he is in the UK right now and not playing, Ricardo is now catching up with him; both 54 points. Mike W follows with 44 points. See full list below.
