Results – Rahman Putra – 28th January 2014

Report

We played the Trophy game at Rahman Putra. As always the club seem incapable of controlling the starts, and as a result we teed off , only 15 minutes late…..The course had dried up well and the greens were in excellent condition, very true. The weather was cloudy and golfing conditions were very good.

Several good rounds, but the winner was Tony Morris with 88, for 38 points. He will receive the trophy when they arrive….In second place, as his good form continues was Stuart Taylor with 89 for 36 points.

An excellent lunch had been arranged by Tony. Thank you. He was called back to the restaurant, as there was a query with the bill, but he is still counting the profits, … !!

Results – Amverton Cove – 21st January 2014

Report

19 players eventually teed off, from the Blues at the excellent Amverton Cove. We started a little late as 1 car with three occupants decided to have a drive round the South Klang area……!!
The conditions were near perfect with light cloud and for most of the round a  pleasant cooling breeze. The greens were in excellent condition, fast and true and overall the course was in good condition and the club should be congratulated on the high level of maintenance.

The winner, Stuart Taylor, had an excellent round and until the last hole the result could have gone either way between him and Graham Cadman – Graham eventually losing out. Stuart scored 85 for 40 points. Well done. In the end, second on count back from Jason Winter was Geoff  Parslow with  78 for 39 points, this included an excellent 34 on his second 9. His back must be getting better….
A good but slow lunch was had by the river and Stuart very kindly paid for the drinks to celebrate his upcoming birthday. Many thanks. I hear it is Tony’s birthday next week….??

Next Game – Amverton Cove – 21st January 2013

Next week we are playing at the excellent Amverton Cove on Tuesday 21 st. 5 Flights booked, and 2 tee boxes.  Please be at the club by 0720 hrs, with tee off at 0745 hrs.

Costs are 120 RM for seniors and TP books. 130 RM for the “youngsters”. Caddies at own expense 50 RM.

As expected when a new h/cap system is introduced there will be some teething issues, especially as there are no cuts or increases. After discussion, any new member joining the club can only win after they have played 5 games, which will then mean a USGA h/cap will be available. Highlighted by Jason’s back to back great golfing wins. As Ted and Jason built Amverton, what the odds on the same pair on the rostrum again… Up to the rest of us to prevent this  appening…..!! Will be interesting to see what Jason’s h/cap will be after next week’s game , his 5th outing with the

LCs.

Results – Tasik Puteri – 13th January 2014

Report

17 players teed off on time from the Putera and Tasik 9’s. Course was in OK condition, but some of the fairways were struggling a bit after the recent rains. Greens were generally even paced but the Tasik 9 had not been cut. Wow it was hot…And the conditions led to the scores being not as low as
usual. Only 3 players performed at, or better than their h/cap….!!

The Winter and Parslow show dominated again with Jason scoring an excellent 72 for 42 points for the win, and Ted was in his customary second place with 81 for 39 points.  Jason, as is the norm, being absent from the lunch donated his winnings….Thank you.

We ate at the Chinese Restaurant on the way back to the highway, where a very enjoyable lunch was had.

Loose Cannons- A Snapshot of 2013

I meant to prepare this annual slideshow review at the end of last year and only just remembered now. Anyway let’s see how much you remember of the wonderful year of 2013 and the many games that Loose Cannons golf group enjoyed at the numerous golf courses in and around Kuala Lumpur.
Here is the 2013 snapshot video review. ….. enjoy!

Results – Bukit Kemuning – 7th January 2014

Report

Bukit Kemuning was drier than expected, only a few soft patches, and played well.  The greens were in good condition and were even paced. Pleasant weather conditions which warmed up later, resulted in a good morning’s golf.

First week of using USGA H/Caps, so no cuts for the winners. It will be interesting to see how the new system evolves.

The winner was Jason Winter with an excellent 76 for 39 points. He just beat his work comrade Ted Parslow who scored 81 for 38 points.

The excellent lunch arranged by Barry was somewhat extended as simple directions to get to the restaurant,1 km away from the club, seemed to cause rather a lot of difficulties…. Eventually we only finished up 2 members short….!! There has however been some negative feedback on the lunch arrangements particularly with the food being served a long time before all members had arrived resulting an latecomers getting some meagre leftovers (at a hefty price as well!)
