Two flights were ready on time to teeing off on the Island nine, and Pines course was the back nine with the booth courses in good conditions with nice fairways and well maintained greens. The weather was hot and humid, and unfortunately the haze came back again after a few days with low index. Josef Winter was on fire again with a solid 85 for 39 points, second was Roland with 93 for 35 points and in third place was Fritz Katzengruber with 33 points. September games are now closed with Marc Louette champion with a fantastic 83 points, followed by Josef with 78 and Reinli with 74. Great results this month with big numbers, congratulations to the champion and well done everyone, raising the level higher and higher. For the annual competition, Bernhard still hanging is leading now with 80 points, followed closely by Fritz with 72 and Ricardo with 68, so all open for the last 3 months of the year. Helmut just landed from Europe after a long absence and he got his prize related with his performance from the last season. Lunch at the usual restaurant in Nilai with 10 of us and finally Hans was there but only if we order butter prawns, and the wish was granted and I’m sure now Hans starting to like this restaurant. Next week we will be at Johor Bahru for our away tournament with eight players on the bag.

Back to Kinrara to play the fourth game of the month with good and cool weather conditions. You can see how the course conditions improved the last year, specially the greens, absolute great. Following his good game last week, Marc Louette was again with big numbers (39 points), followed by Reinly with 36 and Josef Winter also in good form with 35 points. With these results Marc cemented his first position now with 83 points and almost secure the pole position to be the September champion, Josef and Reinli trying to catch up with Marc with 74 points. Lunch at East of Highway, celebrating Reinli’s birthday and he got a nice box of balls as a birthday gift. Thanks you again Reinli for your generous contribution with 360.00 rm for the lunch. Next week lets go to Nilai Springs.

After more than one year we back again to Seremban to play the International Golf Club, with very hazy and hot weather. The course was very dry, with most of the fairways with many spots without grass and very nice but tricky greens. The starter was busy with 4 flights in front of us on hole # 1 and the first flight teed off with a delay of 40 minutes, and after the two flights teed off the marshal decided to give priority to the walking members and send our 3rd flight to hole # 10, so quite messy. Last year we played from the blue tees, but this time playing from the white tees opened the opportunity for a few good scores and the greens much more reachable on the second shot, as with a long and straight tee shots the ball was rolling another 30 or more meters from the landing spot. Hans went straight to Melaka following the Waze instructions, but he was able to find the way back to Seremban and joined flight three at hole # 3. Today’s winner was Marc Louette with an amazing 99 for 44 points, followed by Jan van Driel also with a solid 90 for 37 points, and in third place was Josef Winter with a nice 90 for 35 points. With these results, Marc is now leading the monthly competition with 74 points, second and third is Reinli and Josef also with 74 points but Marc has the highest score (44) on the best 2 games. Happy Malaysia day and next week we will be playing Kinrara.

My first comment is that I do not understand that a number of our members do not want to play Bukit Jalil. I do understand that in wet seasons the course can be very soggy and losing balls is in that case very easy, even in the middle of the fairway. But now, without having seen rain in some time, the course is perfectly playable. Yes, it may be tight in some places, and yes, on some holes you have to have a good drive to clear the water (you know you can lay up……), but we are playing golf and also some more challenging courses are part of our challenge!

So, I wanted to say that.

We teed off today with 6 (!!) players, on a course which was dry, with very good fairways and greens, nothing wrong with that. The haze was certainly present with a blurry sun every now and then. 
We decided to play with a two-ball and a four-ball to save money on half buggies, caddies and caddie tips. In total, that saved us some 500 RM!! So worth while repeating in case we are facing the same issues.

After the game we had lunch at Da Kitchen with good food (thank you for ordering Reinli) and some nice beers.

Third place today was for Iain with 35 points, second was Reinli with 36 points and the absolute winner today was Josef with 39 points. Well done!! Because of the small group, Josef was so kind to forego his free lunch, so again, many thanks.

Next week we will play Seremban International.

The first game of September was at Bangi. We teed off nice in time (the earlier the better) with three full flights. We played Bangi first and Kajang, both courses in a good shape, also because of the lack of rain. The greens were a bit variable, but good playable.

Weather wise, it was a bit strange. On some holes it was difficult to follow the ball, because of the haze, and other holes were better again.

Anyway, very good scores today, as you would expect on Bangi, a relatively easy course.

We had a very good and copious lunch at East of Highway, very generously paid for by Hans, who celebrated his 6 years after his stroke. Hans, Thanks very much and it is great that you are still strong enough to play with us !!!

We welcomed Markus, who has been away for more than 4 months, and we handed him his prize for last year’s competition.
We also celebrated Reinli’s championship of last month, well done Reinli!!

The scores of today were very good with the lowest score of 30 points, and the highest today, the real champion was Fritz with 39 Stable-ford points, a round of 90 strokes!!

Next week we’ll play Bukit Jalil, for some of us a difficult course, but come on guys, let’s try again…….
