BUKIT BERUNTUNG REPORT-21-06-2022

Cannon’s

Today we teed off with only one flight. The LC members who decided not to come have missed something. The course was in a good condition and the weather was not too warm. Every now and then some wet patches on the fairways but that was not too bad, and the greens were very good and most of the time difficult to read. So an extra challenge. The winner today was Ricardo Castro with an excellent score of 81 gross with 37 points. The second was Josef Winter with a respectable 90 for 35 points followed by Hans and Jan. With these results the LCOTY standings Ricardo still leading with a comfortable 74 points followed now by Josef Winter with 63 points. Today we skipped our normal lunch due to some last-minute duties in KL. Next week we plan to play Staffield and we hope more Cannon’s can join and make better numbers for our last game of June. Stay safe and see you guys next week.

Cheers

Jan/Ricardo

DANAU REPORT-14-06-2022

Cannon’s

A small group of 6 gathered in Danau to try to conquer this course. It was not an easy morning!! The course is as always very up and down, with hardly any horizontal fairway, including the greens. Some of the pin positions were so difficult that the ball came to rest even further than you were putting it from.

Halfway we were (un)pleasantly surprised by severe rain. The siren went so we had to wait. This took about 45 minutes after we finished the last nine. Of course, the fairways were a bit soggy in some places, but not too bad. At least we didn’t lose any balls because of water on the fairways.

Because it was quite late we decided to have a bite at the club (no beers of course…..) and we had that with the “respectable” number of three players. First time I think we had such a small group at lunch. I do want to remind everyone that lunch after the game is seen as part of the game, so please try to attend!

The winner was Ricardo with 84 strokes and 33 points. Chia, who played his third game finished second and Josef as third.

Next week Bkt Beruntung

Cheers

BUKIT UNGGUL REPORT-07-06-2022

Cannon’s

Bukit Unggul is a great course to play. The surroundings are stunning and the course itself is well playable for middle to high handicappers and the low handicappers have to use their heads a bit more. In some places, the course was a bit soggy, but that was not too bad. With good weather, not too hot, we had a very nice morning. We had lunch at the club, good food, and was reasonably priced.

That the course was in a good condition was shown by the scores. The two “home players” Mike and Tony ended up 1st and second. Mike with a very good 42 points (score: 77) and Tony with 41 points.

We welcomed David Cheung on his 5th game and is from now on officially a Loose Cannons member! Chia played his second game, so has another three to go.

We also had a new guest amongst us. Siggy took his colleague Frigg with him.

Jan played his 100th game with a donation of 100 RM for the lunch. He received a sleeve of balls for the occasion.

The player halfway down the list, Tony, received a sleeve of balls. In 4th place was Helmut who received a sleeve of balls, Bernhard ended up third and got a nice and real LC cap, while Ricardo was the runner-up and received a nice Portuguese bottle of wine. TASIK PUTERI REPORT-24-05-2022

Cannon’s

It was nice to play again Tasik Puteri, after a long absence and the course (Puteri & Putera) was in a good condition but slow greens, costing a few more extra strokes to everyone. We welcomed Chia to his first game with us (Sleeve of balls as a welcome gift) and congratulations to our new two full members Hans Benn and Roland Steiner (Sleeve of balls, LC Cap, and LC tag as a gift) to commemorate the moment. Also our birthday boy Dave Evans got his late gift (Pair of Puma socks). Great results with only one player scoring below 30 points which reflects how playable was the course today. The winner today was Helmut Dicknoether with an excellent (his best score ever) with 84 for 46 points, followed by Bernhard Romahn in second with another impressive score of 82 for 42 points, and in third place was Ricardo Castro with an excellent 79 for 40 points with one Eagle on his belt (Putera par-five hole # 13) and Hans Berger with an impressive 111 for 40 points (well done Hans). With these results, the May competition shows now in first place Helmut Dicknoether with 85 points followed closely by Ricardo Castro with 79 and Bernhard Romahn with 76, so the last game will be an interesting fight for the monthly winner competition. We all wish safe travels to Dave Evans and Erol Akinci and hope to see you guys soon on the golf course. Next week will be the last game of May at Nilai Springs, so wish you all a great week and stay safe.

Cheers

AMVERTON COVE REPORT-17-5-2022

Cannon’s,

Nice and cool morning at Amverton with 3 flights starting to tee off before 8:00am. The course is always in a good shape with most of the greens quite slow costing some extra puts to most of us. Hans Benn was playing his 4th game with us and next game Hans will be a full member. The winner today with an impressive 97 for 41 points, was our birthday boy Dave Evans (Thanks for the 200.00Rm contribution), second place was the consistent Helmut Dicknoether with 92 for 39 points followed in third place by our guest Hans Benn with a respectable 85 for 36 points. With these results the LC of the year standings, Ricardo still kept the first place but Dave jumped from six to second place closing the race for the final 2 games, with Iain, Josef, and Siegmund also having a good chance to grab the first place. After the game nine of us had a good lunch at I Suka restaurant in a kind of Japanese room style with a nice view of the river. Next week some of our members will be in Cambodia playing with Klogs and we all wish them a great tour, lots of fun, and a safe comeback to Malaysia. Next week we will be playing Tasik Puteri with 3 flights booked. Enjoy your week, stay safe and see you guys soon.
