The last game of June was held at Royal Kampung KC also known as Kelab Golf Diraja Kampung Kuantan. The weather was overcast and very humid early morning, but during the game specially on the back nine was sunny and very hot. The course conditions were perfect with reasonable fairways and nice greens. You can see around the course some improvements on the buggy track and very neat around the fairways and threes. Very hard course, with many water traps and tricky fairways corners, making the round quite challenging, and Reinli and Fritz experienced exactly that losing 23 balls between them.Thank you again to David Pearce to make this game possible and I hope we can comeback soon. Today’s winner was Jan van Driel with a remarkable 85 for 42 points (I believe his best score ever), and with these performance he became the June champion with a impressive 78 points. Second was Ricardo Castro with a solid 75 for 39 points, finishing the monthly competition in second with 77 points and in third place was David Pearce with a nice 95 for 35 points. Steve Collins was relegated to third place on the June competition with 76 points due the Jan’s and Ricardo high performance. Any way the five games of June were very competitive until the final hole and congratulations to everyone. After the game 10 of us had a nice meal at Jet Mei Seafood restaurant. Back to south to play Nilai Springs with very hot weather specially the back nine. Three flights started on the Island nine crossing over to the Mango nine. The course was in excellent conditions with very well maintained fairways and very good greens. The winner was Steve Collins with a solid 91 for 39 points, followed by Jan van Driel with a nice 92 for 36 points, and in third place was Clive Gordon and Ted Parslow booth with 34 points. Following these results, Steve is now leading the monthly competition with 76 points, Ricardo is now second with 76 points and in third place Josef and Clive booth with 70 points. Nine of us had a nice lunch at Sek Hao Fu. Lets get ready for the last game of the month.

Three flights started on time on hole one and hole ten with hot and dry weather. As always the course conditions were excellent, with speedy greens specially on the first four holes. Ricardo Castro continuous his good form with one more victory with a solid 78 for 37 points, beating OCB (18 against 15) Steve Collins, and in third place our legend Ted Parslow with a nice 92 for 33 points. With these results Ricardo still leading the monthly competition now with 75 points, Steve in second with 73 and Josef in third with 70 points. Ten of us had an excellent lunch at Kajang Fei Chuai restaurant with 5 special dishes. During the lunch we also celebrated Sieggy’s 200 games milestone mark, and Martin Belderink his late birthday, with booth of them contributing with 200.00 rm each to the bill, and they got a nice box of balls as a gift. Welcome back to our Ted Parslow and David Pearce. Next week lets play Nilai Springs.

The second game of June was held at Danau golf club, with very hot weather. Flight one and two started on hole 1 and flight three on hole 10. The course was in good condition with playable fairways and speedy greens with the famous tricky pins position, making most of the players upset loosing a few points on the greens reflecting the final high scores. The winner today was Ricardo Castro with a nice 76 for 38 points, followed by Steve Collins with 32 points and in third place was Siegmund Maeibrugger with 30 points. Following these results, Ricardo is now leading the monthly competition with 68 points, second Steve also with 68 and in third place Josef with 67 points. Nine of us rushed to East of Highway restaurant for our usual lunch and also to celebrate David Evans birthday and he got a nice box of balls as a birthday gift. Thanks to David for his 200.00rm contribution to the bill. We also had a emotional toast to the late David Hewitt known as “Hastie” who played 88 games with Loose Cannons between August 2004 to May 2011. Our sincere prayers to our friend David and family, may he rest in peace.

Dear Friends,

It is with sadness that we report the passing of David Hewitt a long serving Loose Cannons member. David lost his fight to cancer on Sunday 17th of May 2026 which he had been gallantly battling for over a year.

David came to Malaysia in 2004 working as a chemist for ICI. During his time based in Kuala Lumpur he was a regular player with Loose Cannons from August 2004 to May 2011 with 88 games on his belt, and also a long Klogs member participating in many local and away games, with the last tour in May 2006 to Bangkok. In 2011 he left Malaysia and returned to Sidney where he had made his home. It was during his play with Loose Cannons that he acquired the name Hastie, as related by Mike Smith, “David had the habit of deciding to walk particularly on the par 5 holes, invariably he would end up in the wrong place and with the wrong club. The consequential delay and slowness whilst this where rectified infuriated his playing partners and prompted our friend the late Barry Cousins to sarcastically nickname him “Hastie”, and the name stuck.

David has been described by many of his golf partners friends as a typical English gentleman. Beneath the surface was a man with a dry and witty sense of humor.

On behalf of Loose Cannons members, our sincere and deeply condolences to his wife Ping, children, grandchildren and family. Our prayers for our friend David who will be sadly missed and may he rest in peace.

Good time to play KInrara and we can see all the improvements around the course. The greens were excellent, with playable and dry fairways. The weather was overcast but hot and humid. Josef was on fire winning today’s game with a solid 86 for 39 points, followed by Clive Gordon and Steve Collins booth with a nice 36 points. Lunch at Da Kitchen, unfortunately with only 5 members, but we all enjoyed the tasty food and cool beers. Ricardo got his prize for the May champion. Next week lets try Danau.

It was nice playing Bkt Jalil again, with very hot weather and a nice blue sky. The course condition were difficult especially the first 9 holes (1-9) with very wet fairways, and uncut grass, making it very difficult to hit the irons Greens were nice but quite fast with tricky pin positions. Following his good form this month, Ricardo won for the third week in the row with a reasonable 81 for 34 points, followed closely by Josef with 95 for 31 points and in third place two players (Iain and Clive) booth with 29 points. Roland (10 cm) and Fritz (25 cm) almost had a hole in one on 13th. With these results, Ricardo are the May champion with a solid 78 points, Bernhard finished in second with 74 points and in third place is Clive with 74 points. May results are closed and for the LCPOTY Bernhard still leading now with 62 points, followed by Siggy and Fritz booth with 44 points and Ricardo with 39 points. Lunch at Da Kitchen with nice food and cool drinks. During lunch Ricardo distributed the 2025 season prizes to Jan, Iain, Roland and on behalve of Diederik & Lukas to Roland. Jan got a gratitude gifts to thank him for his constant support to our society updating our hdc report every single week. See you all next week at Kinrara for the first game in June.

Back to Tasik Puteri for the 3rd game of May with very hot weather and a nice blue sky. Three flights started on time at Puteri nine crossing over to the Putera nine, with booth of the courses in excellent conditions, with very good fairways and greens. The winner was Ricardo with an excellent score of 75 for 40 points, followed by Martin Middleton also with a solid 89 for 39 points, and in third place was Tony with a nice 94 for 36 points. With these results, Ricardo is now the leader of the May competition with 78 points, followed by Bernhard with 76 and Clive with 74 points. After lunch at the club we delivered the 2025 season prizes to Tony Morris, Steve Collins and Martin Middleton. Stay tune and see you next week at Bkt Jalil for the last game of the month.

Nine brave Cannon’s drove all the way to the “far far away A Famosa galaxy” to play a nice round of golf. Three flights started before 8:00 am on the Palm nine, crossing over to the famous Crocodile nine, with hot but overcast weather. The course as always was in good condition with nice fairways and very good greens. Frigg Steinmann flew all the away from Switzerland :-)) to play his 3rd game with us. Today’s winner was Ricardo Castro with a solid 78 for 38 points, beating Fritz OCB, and in third place was Bernhard with a nice 87 for 37 points. In the monthly competition, Bernhard and Ricardo now both have 76 points, but Bernhard is in first place due to his better score in game one staying Ricardo in second place, and Clive closely in third place with 74 points, so there’s still a lot to fight for. For lunch and thanks to Mike Smith tip we tried the Han’s restaurant in Alor Gajah (just 6 min away from the club) and no regrets, the food was excellent and very cold beers. Myself, Josef, Bernhard and Marc we extend our trip until Friday in Melaka for a few more games. Next week lets go to Tasik.

The first game of May was held at Bangi with 3 full flights starting on Putrajaya nine and second and third flights on kajang nine with very hot weather and nice blue sky with some cotton clouds formations. The course was in good conditions, very dry fairways and nice greens. Very good results again with Bernhard beating Clive OCB booth with 39 points, and in third place was Ricardo with a solid 78 for 38 points. After the game we all rushed to East of Highway restaurant for a good meal, 2025 season prize given and also TO celebrate Siggy’s birthday with a nice contribution of 220.00 rm for the bill and he got a very nice box of balls as a birthday gift. Great morning of golf and a very nice lunch and prize giving celebrating the 2025 season. Dave Evans got is prize for the April champion with a fantastic 80 points,definitely well deserved. Next week time to play A Famosa and lets try to be famous.
