Results – KGSAAS – 21st January 2020

All arrived in good order to complete our registration in time and what did we see when we walked down to the starters hut, quite a number of Koreans in their buggies. With a little bit of pressure on the starter we managed to tee-off alone from the President nine.

The course is known for being soggy during the wet season, the President nine lived up to that, Alam Shah a bit better.

The greens which normally are quite good were not good either with spots of different speed, as a whole a disappointment.

But the food and service at the restaurant maintain its usual good quality and buy two jugs of beer and get one extra were still on offer.

Results

Despite the condition of the course  we had three players who played better than their handicap;

– Winner on count back, Paul Geddes with 38 points

– Runner up Iain Wise

– Third Ricardo Castro 37 points

Today the 10th of September we LCs played KGSAAS Alam Shah and President nines. We were down to nine players as Kevin has to pullout due to back injury. A lot of other LC were overseas as well.

Alam Shah was in excellent condition and the President almost as good. Weather yeah, less hazy at start more of it when we finished.

Winner of the day was Siegmund Maierbrugger with a score of 85 for 42 after a correction was made to Ricardo Castros’s incorrect score.

With Hans Berger out with a cold, we only had 14 players today at KGSAAS (or rather SAASGCC) under the careful organisation of Aftab Ahmad. We got off at 7:45am from tee boxes on President and Sultan courses with no holdups to talk about. Course conditions were good and the weather was pleasant. After the game, we had the usual pleasant lunch at the clubhouse.

Results

Our winner today was Ted Parslow with a score of 87 for 37 points, beating Stuart Taylor (84, 37 points) on countback. Best gross was Stuart Taylor with 84. Full results are tabulated below:

Results – KGSAAS – 2nd July 2019

This morning at KGSAAS we had 4 flights teeing off on Sultan and President 9’s. Unfortunately we had 2 players missing in action: Josef Winter went to the wrong golf course and Paul Geddes was late but eventually, these 2 players caught up with the rest and joined us for the game.

Weather was very cool which was pleasant and the course was good apart from the greens which had all been sanded recently.

Lunch after the game was at the club and some of us stayed probably longer than we should have over many beers after the game.

Results

The winner today was “local boy” Hans Berger with 99 for 39 points with Ricardo Castro runner up with 82 for 38. Full results below:

Results – KGSAAS – 12th March 2019

With some Loose Cannons members away in Malacca for 3 days tour we had some leftovers here in KL gagging for a game ……. so we decided to play KGSAAS as many of those players missed the game last week at this course. We had 3 full flights with 12 players and after a very efficient check in we tee’d off on President and Shah Alam 9’s at just before 8:00am ….. with only a minor delay because Robert Mulliss had to change out of his “illegal” cargo pants into something more becoming!

The course was very quiet but after heavy rain overnight the course was a little wet with many of the bunkers flooded. The greens however were fine and played very nicely. After the storms of last week there was a lot of evidence of downed trees and branches throughout the course but the maintennace crews were tidying this up very well.

After the game we had a pleasant lunch at the club and managed to spend the carryover with a well judged RM49.99 per head for all players who stayed for lunch.

Results – KGSAAS – 5th March 2019

We were four full flights as Paul Geddes responded to the empty slot announcement, many thanks for that.
Weather was very nice although a bit hazy in the early morning.
Being a member I have a “hate – love relationship” with this course, Alam Shah nine is most of the time in good condition and nice to play whereas the President/Sultan nines are commonly soggy and the grass is now of a cow type.
We welcome Aftab Ahmad back to Malaysia from California, this time he will stay for six month and this was Joe Lacy’s last game before heading for Portugal, his new retirement home.
And the winner was Joe Lacy with 39 points
Shared second with 38 points, Ricardo Castro and Paul Geddes
Third with 36 points, Martin Belderink
Lowest gross, Paul Geddes 79
Most players assembled at the Golfers Deck for lunch, Martin Walsh reduced the bill a bit as he just have had his birthday, many thanks and happy birthday.

We had 5 flights this morning and a total of 18 players at KGSAAS. Erol brought along his guest, Mike Fay, to join us today. With an early tee-off of 7:45am we made good progress round the course and we were finished by 12 noon or shortly thereafter. The course was very soggy causing plugged balls in the fairway and difficult shots around the green due to the wet ground but in spite of this we had some good scores.

We all had lunch after the game at the club and a big thank you to Kevin Wiggins who donated RM200 to the pot for his birthday.

Results

Kevin Wiggins was our clear winner today with an excellent score of 88 for 40 points. Runner up was Stan Constantinides with 91 for 38. Best gross of the day was an 83 from Geoff McLaws. Full scores below:

Results – KGSAAS – 30th October 2018

All 18 players managed to turn up on time for an early tee-off for the October Trophy game at KGSAAS on a cool and thankfully dry morning — thank you from the Temporary Convenor.
We welcomed back Andrew Robinson and Charles Blanchet after prolonged absences.  Check-in was a breeze – they are well organised here and easy to work with, and flights had been emailed to them in advance.  Sigi very generously paid the full fees for his flight and donated his partners fees towards the lunch bill — thank you very much Sigi !!!!
The course was not too busy and we were away well before 8am with split flights on the President and Sultan nines.  The weather soon became steamy and humid, and there was a lot of moisture on the greens and fairways.  Overall the course was reasonable considering it is the wet season – and all courses are currently a bit soggy.  Greens were fairly true and the fairways playable.
Most flights finished around mid-day with one flight delayed to 12:50 after being caught behind a couple of slow groups.
Attention Stuart – for the handicap record – Andrew Chez and Peter Barker played off the blue tees.  All others played whites as usual.
Winner on the day with 37 points was Ricardo – well done to him – the only player to beat his handicap.  Hans Berger joined us for lunch and presented Ricardo with his Trophy.  Second place was Bernard on 35 points and third was Stan with 34 points – well done guys.  Lowest Gross was 83 by both Andrew Chez and Ricardo, and most exercised was Dave.
14 cannons stayed for lunch washed down by some very welcome jugs of cold beer.  Bernard, Berni and Tony stayed for a while at lunch, but Ray unfortunately had to quit the golf after 9 holes due to flu/fever symptoms.
The surplus funds from the morning, coupled with Hans’ members discount card, covered the whole of the lunch bill, which led to raucous cheering and a few shouts from the cheaper seats of “we love Sigi”!

The monthly trophy game this month was held at KGSAAS and although we were booked for an early tee off at 7:30am because of heavy rain we were delayed by about an hour. The first few holes were rainy (so at last I could try out my new rain jacket!) but otherwise the course was in good shape. Soon the sun was out and there were blue skies making for a pleasant morning’s golf and the rain making things a little cooler.

After the game we had lunch and the prize giving ceremony at the clubhouse terrace.

Results

The winner of the August Trophy was Geoff McLaws with a score of 76 (best gross) for 38 points.

Runner up was Tony Morris with 91 for 37 points. Full results below:

IMG_9027

Our first game of May was held at KGSAAS in Shah Alam with 6 full flights teeing off on the President and Sultan courses at 7:30am. It was a beautiful morning and the course was in fairly good condition. The greens on the Sultan 9 had been sanded but were still running very well.

After the game we had lunch on the terrace and with a kindly contribution from Joe Lacy (late Birthday celebration) the cost was very good.
