Results – Tropicana Golf & Country Resort – 15th January 2013

20 Players all managed to find Tropicana, one with a little difficulty, and we teed off on time. Unfortunately only 1 box was available. The course was in excellent condition, greens were fast and true and as many of us discovered the bunkers were deep and rather plentiful….!!
The winner was Klaus, scoring an excellent 85 for 46 points. Cut a large 10 points. Second was my “nominated favourite” Erol with 93 for 44. Only cut 1. Should be good for next week!!
I had the fortune of watching the lowest gross by Ted Parslow of 81, and no doubt he will enjoy asking Geoff the scores during the week. Hans “Bunker” Berger focused his game this week on doing a full and thorough review of most of the bunkers on the course …. by the end of the round his success out of the sand was definitely improving.
Many thanks to Geoff and Ted, for getting the special rate. A good day was had by all. 17 players then went to lunch at the local Star restaurant as recommended by Glen, and a good spread was rapidly devoured along with numerous amber coloured drinks.

Next game will be on Tuesday 15th January at TROPICANA GOLF & COUNTRY RESORT. Please be at the course by 0720 hrs with booked tee off at 0745 hrs.

A good turnout of 19 Players teed off on time at 0745 hrs on the Sultan and Alam Shah 9 s. Great golfing weather, light cloud and even a little breeze…..KGSAAS was not in its normal excellent condition, with some long , uncut rough, varied uncut fairways, and a few of the greens had been deluge effected. But all had a good morning’s golf.
The winner on the day, with an excellent lowest gross 79 for 43 points was Geoff McClaws. Cut 7. Next time out handicap 4. The now customary bridesmaid was Stuart Taylor with 90 for 42 points. Cut only 1.

Next Game – KGSAAS – 8th January 2013
Next week we will play at the excellent KGSAAS on TUESDAY 8th January.

Registration worked well, and the first flight teed off, on time, at 0745. hrs. Flights had to be changed slightly as two players got a little lost and one person, claimed no E Mails, went to the wrong course.
The first 9 was the Hills and the second was the front 9 on the Lakes. Both courses played long and the rough, after all the rain was tough, as a result the scores were higher than usual with only 7 of the 16 starters breaking the 100. The greens were in excellent condition, but some of the pin positions were somewhat challenging….
Geoff Parslow had an excellent round of 80, for the lowest gross of the day. The winner was Ray Funnell with a 98 for 38 points, cut 4 and Stuart Taylor was again the runner up with 96 for 37 points. – cut 1.
Lunch was taken at the club and all bar one person joined the beer free banter.

Next Game – Rahman Putra – 3rd January 2013
4 flights have been booked, so far, for the HILL course at RAHMAN PUTRA for WEDNESDAY JANUARY 2nd. We will again try pre – registration, and hopefully will get a prompt start. Tee off 0745 hrs. Please be at the club by 0720 hrs latest.
Costs will be 130 RM ,incl 26 RM for lunch. Caddies included and are
compulsory.

On a beautiful morning 17 players, after 2 Cannon withdrawls, including a flight of guests, teed off from 2 boxes, with a prompt start at 0745 hrs. The staff at Staffield was very helpful and the benefit of pre registration certainly helped us with the start, as our buggies had been separated and we teed off before the other flights.
The course was in its usual excellent condition, especially the greens, but some areas, especially around the greens were inevitably a little soggy.
Unfortunately only 15 players completed their rounds, as apparently it was getting too warm. After the recent deluges, personally, good to see the sun shining.
The winner on the day was Jeff Pearce with 95 gross for 41 points – cut 5 . Gordon Wingate got in the frame for the first time with 88 for 40 points – cut 1. Jeff won it on the last hole, as on the last box he was all square with Ray, who inexplicably put 2 drives into the lake….!! Lowest gross was Geoff P. with 82.

Results – Bukit Unggul Golf Resort – 18th December 2012

This was the annual Xmas game with all LC’s required to adorn some festive hats …. traditionally Santa hats or antlers, but this year we saw some new hat styles being used. It was a merry band of 12 festive Loose Cannons golfers who headed out on an initial drizzly morning over the rolling hills of Bukit Unggul. The course condition was very good, albeit slightly wet in places, the weather remained overcast and cool and with no one to hold up play we made good time round the 18 holes and were back in the clubhouse around midday for lunch and beverages.
Ray Funnel kindly arranged for some additional novelty prizes (2 sleeves of golf balls) for two NTP’s on the par-3 holes number 2 and 14, plus a pleasant surprise gift for the runner up.
The winner was Andre Holm with 89 and 42 points. The runner up was Stuart Taylor with 91 and 41 points who received a rather nice bottle of whisky which he kindly opened up during lunch for any takers. Andre is cut 6 and Stuart cut 5.
Lowest gross was Ted Parslow with 87. Most golf was Dick Staufer with 115 who was welcomed back after a long time away from our LC outings.
