Results – Perangsang Templer – 25th June 2013

Only 12 players, eventually turned out for the Trophy game at Perangsang. Numbers were down as a result of concern over the haze. As it turned out only light haze was experienced and on the second nine the sun actually broke through. Considering the past few days, conditions were much better than predicted, and in fact quite pleasant…. The course was dry and good runs and some unlucky bounces were had by all. The greens were slow, after heavy watering on the front 9 , but the back 9 which had been lightly sanded were fast and true.

The winner on the day , and breaking his duck was Graham Cadman with a 94 for 45 points, cut 9. Well done. He beat , what in effect turned out to be a head / head match with Aftab Ahmad 94 for 42 points. Cut 1. Lowest gross was by Geoff, 82. Full results attached.

This was Aftab’s last game for a couple of months as he is off to California. Safe trip.

10 players enjoyed a superb meal at Selayang Tang Dynasty, the recently renovated restaurant, where we were also made most welcome.

Results – Perangsang Templer – 26th March 2013

13 players at Perangsang for the March Trophy game. We welcomed a new player, Ian Dickson, who will hopefully become a regular.

After the very heavy overnight rain, several of the bunkers were full of water and no run was apparent on the fairways. Weather was very pleasant with a slight breeze. The scores, were generally better than expected, bearing in mind the wet conditions. Lowest gross was by Geoff Mclaws with 81 just beating Bernard with a 82. The winner , as predicted from the first

flight, was Hans Berger with 93 for 45 points, cut 9…Second was Bernard with 43 points cut only 1.

An excellent lunch followed at the Tang Dynasty , where much to Andrew’s delight the Jacobs Creek Merlot was only 49 RM per bottle. He considered buying all their stock…!!

Report

A beautiful day for golf, the course had dried up very well and was in excellent condition. The greens were good, and an enjoyable day was had by all. Followed by, I hear a good lunch.

Pre registration worked well and the club proved very helpful. We teed off on time and all flights were back in around 4 hours. Certainly we will play this course again in the circuit.

Now they have our birthdates on file, next time will be even easier. Also the course is very good value.

No longer the bridesmaid… Stuart Taylor was the winner with 89 gross for 41 points. At last, he has a cut of 5….Second was Andrew Robinson with 94 for 40 points. Cut 1. Lowest gross was by Geoff Parslow with an excellent 79 for 39 points.

Cannons all,

Just after noon on Monday Perangsang called me to say they had “a small tournament” in the morning and our tee time was now 08:40. After protesting, pointing out that we were given a “confirmed” tee time of 08:00 they told me that this was a “last minute arrangement” and there was nothing they could do about it. No apology. As it was then too late to make other arrangements I had to go along with it. Guess what? They lied. There were in fact TWO competitions; both arranged well in advance judging by the banners and other paraphenalia. We finally got started at 09:20 by which time I wished I had stayed in bed. What a bunch of arseholes.
The course was very wet after recent heavy rain and consequently the fairways hadn’t been cut in days and were very long which led to many plugged balls and much time taken up searching for lost balls. The greens were OK but very slow. Glen retired hurt after a few holes and 2 others quit having other commitments.
The winner with 39 points was Andrew Robinson and the runner up OCB was Ian Geekie. The lowest gross was 90 by Andrew and the most golf was played by Ray Funnell & Vincent Vijayan with 109. Andrew is cut 4 and Ian is cut1.
Due to the delay only a small group took M&M at the Annex when I picked up the tab to celebrate my birthday. The surplus will go into the kitty and some of it will go to the Lunch on the 15th.
Regarding the XMAS LUNCH please CONFIRM your attendance ASAP.
