Results – Perangsang Templer – 25th June 2013

Only 12 players, eventually turned out for the Trophy game at Perangsang. Numbers were down as a result of concern over the haze. As it turned out only light haze was experienced and on the second nine the sun actually broke through. Considering the past few days, conditions were much better than predicted, and in fact quite pleasant…. The course was dry and good runs and some unlucky bounces were had by all. The greens were slow, after heavy watering on the front 9 , but the back 9 which had been lightly sanded were fast and true.

The winner on the day , and breaking his duck was Graham Cadman with a 94 for 45 points, cut 9. Well done. He beat , what in effect turned out to be a head / head match with Aftab Ahmad 94 for 42 points. Cut 1. Lowest gross was by Geoff, 82. Full results attached.

This was Aftab’s last game for a couple of months as he is off to California. Safe trip.

10 players enjoyed a superb meal at Selayang Tang Dynasty, the recently renovated restaurant, where we were also made most welcome.

Andrew has confirmed the Restaurant is open again after reno.!!

Results – Tasik Puteri – 18th June 2013

A very hot day at Tasik, especially the Tasik nine. 16 players turned out, starting from 2 tee boxes. The course was very dry, good run on the fairways and true greens resulted in some good scores. The winner on the day was Hans Berger with a 92 for 42 points. Cut 6 ..  second on count back from Graham Cadman was Andrew Robinson, with 91 for 41 cut 1. Lowest gross was Geoff Mclaws with 81.

The game celebrated Barry’s 250th game for LCs. An enjoyable lunch followed and with Barry’s generous supply of wine , a good time was had by all. Barry also donated two bottles of “nectar” , which were won by Kevin, 4th place and Ray for 10th place. Thanks Barry.

Results – Nilai Springs Golf Club – 11th June 2013

23 Players turned out in beautiful weather, and the course was in excellent condition. Much improved since our last visit. The greens played true, and all the positives contributed to some excellent scores.

The winner on the day, was Iain Wise with a 91 for 47 points. Sorry Iain, cut 11….. He beat a three way tie on 45 points, of Aftab Ahmad, Ray Funnell, and the second place went to Hans Berger on count back, with a 91 . Cut only 1…..   Lowest gross was Bernie Schobert with an impressive 80.

Results – Amverton Cove Golf & Island Resort, Carey Island – 4th June 2013

Many thanks for Ted in helping to arrange the LC s first outing at Amverton Cove. An enjoyable morning’s golf, helped by efficient and welcoming staff, was enjoyed by most on this newly established course. 24 players teed off on time, off the recommended blues, quite amazing, as most did not get too lost. The sanded greens were quick and true and the undulations caused a few 4 putts…. The water attractions apparently ate a few balls. The scores were higher than expected on what appeared to be a short and not too
demanding course.   We had 4 guests. Hopefully 3 of them, Paul, Hans and Bernie will be joining us on a fairly regular basis.

4 People were tied on 40 points. Iain Wise, Joe Zorich, Hans Bohi, and the eventual winner on countback was Barry Cousins. Barry has been cut 4 and Hans 1.

An enjoyable, good value, lunch was had by most of the participants by the river.

Results – Staffield Golf Resort – 28th May 2013

Report

Weather conditions and course conditions were excellent for this Loose Cannons trophy day at Staffield. Although the greens were tricky and rather fast with difficult pin locations, causing some players 4 putts .. and dare I say even 5 putts.. but they ran true. We had a full 5 flights of 20 players with 19 players finishing …. Andrew Robinson had to unfotunately retire after 3 holes as he had “lost his grip” ….. caused by a cut in his finger from a broken wine glass …. so no surprises there.
The winner by quite a margin was Geoff McLaws with a consistent 38/38 for the 2 nines with a total gross of 76 and 46 points (cut 10) including a wonderful eagle on the par 5 9th hole on the Northern Nine. Runner up was Kevin Wiggins with a gross 87 for 40 points (cut 1).
We welcomed back to the Loose Cannon’s fold, Mr Richard Moss, this being his first game post-hip replacement. He managed the 18 holes very well with his new bionic hip and no doubt he looks forward to many more games in the future.
Also of note, Bernard Rohman apparently managed to drive his buggy directly into a bunker as he drove at top speed over a mound ….. just a pity we do not have photographs or video of this incident ….. perhaps the following video may fill in this gap however ….. (hope he raked the bunker!!)

An excellent post-game lunch was enjoyed by 17 of the attendees at the Restoran Shengee in Mantin …. 15 of us had almost finished all the food when Joe Zorich and Peter Jackson strolled in looking hungry ….. due to their post game leasurely jug at the club.
