Results – Monterez Golf & Country Club – 10th October 2017

IMG_5699

While the Batam Away group were heading off for 3 days of golf in Indonesia the stragglers arranged a game here in KL. Registration this morning at Monterez was easy and was helped financially by a very good deal if using Maybank or CIMB debit cards where we could get a rate of RM68 per player for that flight. Thanks to Allan Wright and Stan Constantinides we got cheap rates for 2 flights. Normal rates were RM106 so all in all a good deal.

As expected Monterez was quite moist given the recent rain and its tendancy to get wet easily. However apart from a few plugged balls on the fairways the course was generally in good shape and the greens very good. The slopes on the greens and the pin positions however made it quite tricky. Weather was good but did get a bit hot near the end of the round.

We had an excellent lunch after the game at the nearby Choong Foong Seafood Restaurant and lunch was well washed down by many cold beers kindly aided by a kind RM200 input from Paul Geddes for a recent birthday. Happy Birthday Paul!

Results – KGSAAS – 3rd October 2017

IMG_5622

We played at KGSAAS today on the President and Sultan 9’s. Course was in fairly good shape although the fairways seem to need some attention with cow grass growing through and what looked like tiny daisies growing on the 9th hole of the President 9. They have been cutting back the trees and the rough quite extensivle so the course looks very tidy now. Weather was also great and we got round in good time by around 12:30pm with lunch taken at the club.

Welcome to our guest today … Niall Murray … introduced by Emlyn Jones.

Results – Kota Seriemas Golf & Country Club – 26th September 2017

IMG_5540

The monthly trophy game for September was held at the scenic Kota Seriemas Golf & Country Club. Although the early morning weather looked very doubtful with a large band of rolling dark clouds coming in over the course it cleared up quickly and the conditions were very pleasant all the way round. The course was in good condition and we all got round fairly quickly with the first 2 groups finished and in the restaurant by 12:30pm.

The after game lunch was at Loon Sing Restaurant which tends to be expensive for what it offers and it would probably be just as well to head back down the road to East of Highway Restaurant in future.

Many thanks to Iain Wise who donated RM200 to the kitty to celebrate his recent 200th game.

Results – Seri Selangor – 19th September 2017

IMG_5433

We returned to Seri Selangor after a long period where they were renovating the course. There have been some improvements but it is really far from ready with scruffy fairways, dug up areas and some extensive GUR area around some greens. The greens were very good however apart from hole no 18 which is now a temporary green as they work on the proper green. So we may have to leave it a while till we return here.

We had 4 full flights and got off from 2 tee boxes sharply at 8:00am. After the game we had lunch at our regular Pantai Seafood Restaurant which was very good.

Results – Danau Golf Club – 5th September 2017

IMG_5280

There were only 3 flights this week for our outing at Danau Golf Club. We all set off at 8:00am sharp from the 10th tee over the difficult terrain of Danau – nothing much has changed with heavy thick rough making it difficult finding balls and playing from – best policy was to try and stay on the fairway. The greens were in good condition however albeit a little tricky with the slopes and the hole positions.

Weather was good and although the skies darkend near the end of the round we got finished before the rain came in later. It is a tough course and most players confirmed it was not one of their favourite courses.

We welcomed a new player today – Eric van Donselaar – introduced by Emlyn Jones. We hope to see him again.

Lunch after the game was at Restoran East of Highway which was excellent as usual.

Results

Kaz Takita was the winner today with 97 for 36 winning on count back from Hans Berger with 98 for 36 – well done Kaz. He didn’t make lunch so his winnings went into the pot to pay for lunch … cheers Kaz!

Best gross of the day was Stuart Taylor with 93 and most golf was Martin Belderink. Full results below:

Results – Palm Garden Golf Club – 29th August 2017

The monthly trophy game for the month of August was played at Palm Garden Golf Club and with some golf vouchers gathered from the last game there we had some discount (well some of the players did!). We had only 4 full flights this week and got off from two tee boxes promptly at 8:00am.

The course was in very good condition and is always a joy to play here with beautiful fairways and excellent greens. From the white tees the course is short so making some birdie opportunities for a few players. The weather was kind as well and was actually a bit cooler than normal.

After the game we all had lunch at the club restaurant with their excellent fish and chips being a firm favourite.

Results

IMG_5233The winner of the August Trophy was Andrew Cseszko with an excellent 76 for 39 points with Ray Funnell runner up with 101 for 38 points. Best gross of the day was Andrew with his 76 and our Convenor, Hans Berger, got the most golf award. Full results below :

Results – Tasik Puteri – 22nd August 2017

IMG_5130There were 5 flights today at Tasik Puteri and we all got off efficiently on the Putera and Puteri 9’s at 8:00am sharp. Weather was good, rather cool and overcast for the first hour or so making it a pleasant morning. The course was looking a little more scruffy than it usually does with overgrown tee boxes and various patches of long grass and GUR on the fairways. The greens were good though and provided some putting challenges on some of the holes.

We had lunch at the club after the game and as usual the food was rather ordinary and took a long time to come for many of us. I would recommend we return to the usual Chin Heong Restoran Chinese Restaurant at this venue the next time.

Results

Some good scores today at the top of the table with quite a few players bettering the ir handicap. The winner was Iain Wise with an excellent 86 for 44 points and continuing in hos post-holiday golf form. Runner up was Tony Morris with 86 for 43 points. best gross of the day was Geoff McLaws with an 81 and most golf was shared between Allan Wright and Aftab Ahmad. Full results below:

Results – Impian Golf Club – 15th August 2017

A rainy day in paradise !
With Stuart Taylor having to drop out at the last minute due to illness, 19 LC’s (including the returning of our beloved resident convener, Hans Berger from the frozen North with a few more kilos and looking forward to be at the hot seat again) braved torrential rain & dark, treacherous roads to play at the Impian Golf & Country Club earlier today. The heavy rain continued unabated until ~ 7.45am resulting in some delay in teeing off, but eventually 4 flights teed-off on #1 with 1 flight joining a queue on #10.  Rain continued sporadically throughout the morning, with thunder audible and very dark skies overhead; however there was no further interruption due to rain so, despite these issues, play was generally reasonably quick with all players finishing by ~  1.45pm
The course was, as usual, in beautiful condition, if a bit soggy and challenging for some (including your stand-in temporary scribe).

Results

The winner was Stan (finally)  with 92 for 36 points. Runner-up was Iain Wise with 95 for 35 (even with 6 blobs ) ahead of Ricardo with 88 for 34. Lowest gross was Ricardo with 88 and the most gross was Ray Funnell with 114. Full results listed below:

Lunch should be at Fei Wai Seafood, but was closed with different name, so we switch to Ken Well seafood restaurant just opposite side attended by only 10 of us. Good food, good company, plenty of good humored banter and 10 nice cold Tiger to help it along. 200 Rm donated by Iain Wise to commemorate his first EAGLE ever, and 50.00 Rm from Roger as a fine to celebrate his fantastic tee shot who ended up before lady’s tee.
Thank you Tony Morris, Stan Constantinides, Hans Berger, Brian Buckley, Roger McGowan, Reinli Tan, Kevin Wiggins, Iain Wise and Martin Belderink to your kind donation to the SILOAM HOUSE.
Thank you all for your support and understanding during this 6 weeks hoping everyone enjoy the prizes, lucky draws and some adding competition bringing to Loose Cannons games more taste and join. Stuart, thank you so much for your support, time and consideration, really appreciate. 33 players were playing during this 6 weeks and hope more members can join us more often. My job is done and now is Mr. Berger’s time to show off.

Results – Bukit Jalil – 8th August 2017

It was cloudy and steamy day when 12 players teed’ off at Bukit Jalil today starting on the front 9 at 8:12 am. The course was as tricky as usual and the greens were running rather quickly generating quite a few multiple putts from all players. Flight one finished in 4 hours, but flight 2 and 3 they were quite slow causing some angry faces and some delay for lunch.
After the game we had lunch at the club with cool beers and quite a reasonable food for the club standard. Bernhard order seafood rice but the seafood was replaced with an succulent kampung chicken, and with a loud complaining from Bernhard they finally brought one more rice with 2 mussels on the top.

Results

The clear winner today was Kaz Takita with an excellent 94 for 39 points. Runner up was Iain Wise with 95 for 36 points (with sleeping puts), Martin Belderink coming 3rd with 96 for 35 points. Ricardo was best gross of the day with his “excellent” 91 and Roger McGowan had the most golf played with 106 so he got his honorable ball to open the battle next week . Full results below :
