BKT UNGGUL REPORT-28-01-2025

Cannon’s,

We had an enjoyable golfing morning. Thanks to the rain and drizzle, and no sun at all, it was cool, and sometimes even a bit chilly. A great day to be out!

Thanks to a large, and slow, group who teed off just before us, we had to juggle around the course a bit, but in the end, we all managed to tee off on different holes and the whole round took us about 4.5 hours.

It is important to come on time to the course. If everyone would have been on time, we could have teed off before the big group!!

Anyway, the course was in a good condition, the greens a bit sandy, which made it not always easy to read the speed, but the rest was good. And yes, we have to be very aware of the many, many monkeys on this course.

The scores were a bit variable, the lowest stableford was 22, and the winner was our local man, Tony, with a whopping 40 points. Bernhard with the lowest gross of 83 couldn’t reach that level. With the final game of the month results, Iain Wise is the January champion with 72 points, followed by Ricardo Castro and Jan van Driel also with 72, but Iain had the highest score (42) from all of us, well done Iain and see you again on the field for the next battle.

We had lunch at the club, where we welcomed Steve Collins for the first time, and Lim Hong for the fourth time.

KGSAAS REPORT-21-01-2025

Cannon’s,

Three full flights started on Alam Nine, with very soggy fairways and difficult greens, crossing over to the President Nine, with much better fairways but very slow greens, costing everyone many strokes. The weather was very humid and hot. Lim Hong played his third game leaving only two more games to reach paradise. Today’s winner was Jan van Driel with 36 points, the second was Martin Middleton with 35 and Ricardo closed the podium with 34 points. With these results, in the January competition standings, Iain Wise, Ricardo Castro, and Jan van Driel all with 72 points, but Iain has some advantage because for now, he scored the highest number of the two best 2 games. After over a year, Bipan Kapur finally joined us and we were happy to see him again. Next week I will be out of town, Jan will organize the game at Bkt Unggul. Happy Chinese New Year to everyone and see you guys in two weeks.

Cheers

TASIK PUTERI REPORT-14-01-2025

Cannon’s,

Back to Tasik Puteri for the second game of the year. With a much better organization from the counter to the starter, the game speed improved a lot, as now finally they starting following the tee times with a gap of 8 minuts between the flights. The weather was hot and dry, with a good fairways and greens condition. The winner today was Iain Wise with an excellent 88 for 42 points, followed by Ricardo Castro with 38 points, and in third place Jan playing his hdc with 36 points. Ricardo Castro is leading the monthly competition with 71 points, second Martin Middleton and Jan van Driel with 67 followed by Bernhard Romahn with 66, so a lot to fight on the last 2 games. Thank you to Tony Morris for his 200.00 rm contribution to the lunch and we had a nice birthday celebration. Next week, lets try KGSAAS.

Cheers

BANGI REPORT-07-01-2025

Cannon’s,

The first game of the year was held at Bangi, with almost four full flights. We all started on the Kajang nine and crossed to the Putrajaya nine. The weather was wet in the beginning with drizzling rain and cool temperatures, but the sun finally came out in the last hour and became quite hot. The course was reasonably good with some parts of the fairways soggy, especially on the back nine. After one year of renovation, they reopened the Putrajaya Nine, but the massive number of three cute off the course looked naked and lost all character. Helmut was the first winner of 2025 playing Bangi for the first time with a nice 37 points, second was Frans Bakker with 36, and in third place four players all with 33 points, Ricardo Castro, Josef Winter, Reinli Tan, and David Evans. After the game 10 of us rushed to East of Highway restaurant for lunch and to celebrate Josef’s birthday (better late than never), who contributed generously with 400.00 Rm to the bill. Happy New Year and see you all next Tuesday at Tasik Puteri.

Cheers
