SWING FOR HUMANITY PROJECT SECOND DONATION TO KECHARA SOUP KITCHEN SOCIETY (FOOD BANK) REPORT-06-12-2025

Cannon’s

As announced last week, this morning, we visited the Kechara Soup Kitchen Society’s main office and food distribution counter. Every day, people rely on this organization for basic food to survive. Our donation of 2,500.00 rm from our 2024 contributions, will help the daily operations such as the Soup Kitchen, Food Bank, and Empowerment programs helping not only the urban homeless in the main cities (KL, JB, Penang, Melaka & Ipoh) but also all over Malaysia poor communities even reaching the Orang Asli settlements in the mountains, jungles, and rain forest areas. A big thank you to Josef Winter, the only LC member who made an effort to participate and support me in this event and learn more about this organization, and to James from Airdry. Below is a summary of Kechara’s activities and main programs as follows:

Dear Ricardo,

Pleased to meet you today and thank you for your contribution.

Kechara Soup Kitchen (“KSK”) is a non-profit organisation established in 2008 with an aim to provide food and provide basic sustenance for the homeless and the urban poor in Malaysia. Apart from Kuala Lumpur, KSK has other operating centres located in Penang, Ipoh, Bentong, Melaka and Johor with volunteers across the nation to serve the community in fulfilling our mission to assist anyone regardless of their race, religion, culture or background.

Our operations include:

  • Soup Kitchen: providing fresh hot food to more than 1,300 homeless and urban poor clients every week; assisting with medical support, arranging for welfare aid, and setting up job interviews.
  • Food Bank: distributing RM250 worth of dry food provisions to more than 4,000 registered families regularly; redirecting more than 4.0 million kilograms of surplus products from supermarkets to more than 179,000 underprivileged individuals so far.
  • Empowerment: teaching baking and sewing skills to 150 individuals from underprivileged families, providing them with the necessary facilities and projects to become financially independent; and providing educational assistance and materials to school-going Orang Asli children.
  • Alice Wong
