Before the Bintan tour, we had the third game of the month at Nilai Springs. We played the Pines nine first and then crossed to the Mango nine. The weather was overcast most of the round, only the last hour being very hot and sunny. The Pines course was wet and challenging, and the Mango course was the opposite conditions with both nines with excellent greens. Steve Collins played his third game. The winner today was WL Chia with an excellent 83 for 43 points, followed by Ricardo with a solid 79 for 35 points, and in third place, Jan van Driel and Josef Winter both with 34 points. With these results, Ricardo still leads the Monthly competition with 74 points, Josef Winter second with 68, and Frans Bakker third with 67 points. Fritz Katzengruber contributed to our lunch bill with 200.00 rm, to celebrate his birthday and he got his deserved birthday gift + the LCOTY 6th place prize. On Saturday we are off to Bintan, and I’m looking forward to seeing you all on the 4th of March.

We had a great sponsor presentation at Four Points Hotel KL City Center, with a very nice welcome from all the staff and the Complex General Manager Mr. Bipan Kapur, with a lovely menu choice at the Mesh private room. The food was super delicious and well-presented in a very stylish and cozy atmosphere. Pity the number of attendees was so low, but we all enjoyed the moment. Thank you again to the LC members who made such an effort to come to the event and support our society. THE SECOND EVENT WAS AT THE CORKMAN IRISH BAR AND RESTAURANT IN CHANGKAT, KUALA LUMPUR.

The second event was held at our new 2025 sponsor THE CORKMAN IRISH BAR AND RESTAURANT in Changkat, with a casual evening with nice finger food and cold drinks. We all enjoyed the event, thank you to the staff and to Benji Sheehy for opening this sponsorship to the Loose Cannons Society with great support. A flag and a frame with our 2025 shirt will be displayed at the bar. From now Corkman is the official bar restaurant in Malaysia. Enjoy during the year, great Irish dishes and drinks, using our membership card.

After Danau’s game, we had a nice lunch at Kajang Fei Chuai restaurant and the 2024 season prizes presentation with thirteen attendees. Pity that were missing some of the players and our sponsor Siggy. Everyone was happy with the season prizes and we had a pleasant event closing the 2024 season in style. Back to the infamous Danau (for some), to play the second game of February. The weather was hot, dry, sunny, and blue sky all morning, with nice course conditions, with dry fairways and nice greens. Three full flights started 15 min early on hole 10 and we had a very relaxing round finishing around noon. The winner today was Frans Bakker with a solid 89 for 37 points, second was Bernhard Romahn with a nice 85 for 35 points, and in third place, Josef Winter with 89 for 34 points. In the February competition, Ricardo Castro continues to lead the pack with 72 points, followed by Josef Winter with 68 and Bernhard Romahn with 66 points, so a lot to fight for in the last two games. After a refreshing shower, we all rush to the restaurant for a fantastic meal and the 2024 season prize presentation.

Back to the north playing Bkt Beruntung East course, with 13 players starting before 8:00 am with the first and second flights finished before noon. The weather was beautiful, occasionally sunny, not so humid with some wind, making for everyone a very pleasant morning of golf. The course was wet, especially the first nine, but overall was playable, with sandy greens. Lim Hong played his 5th game and became a full-LC member he got an LC cap and one LC sleeve of balls as a gift for his achievement. Kevin Tucker and Steve Collins played their third and second game. The winner today was Ricardo Castro with a solid 75 (lowest gross) for 39 points, the second was our guest Kevin Tucker with a nice 96 for 36 points, and Josef finished the podium with a reasonable 91 for 34 points. This was the first game of February, next week we will play at Danau for the 2024 season prize given, then Nilai Springs, and the last game will be in Bintan at Laguna Golf Bintan followed by the two away games.
