DANAU REPORT-28-10-2025

Cannon’s,

The last game of October was played at one of the most hated golf courses in KL, either because it’s to soggy or wet, or because the greens aren’t fair, or because the pin position is ridiculous, or because the hole # 2 has a very strange layout, or because it’s to dry and maybe because the quality of the grass, or maybe the sunrise is not so nice comparing to other courses. These are the excuses for some of our high-level members give, which Danau not meeting such quite high expectations. Any way I always enjoy to play Danau and I believe most of us have the same feeling. The course was dry with playable fairways and yes the greens were very fast with difficult pin positions, but gentleman that is the beauty of golf, playing different courses with different challenges, different layouts, different greens speed etc…etc….etc….making these difficult challenges easier to overcame, appreciate the moment, and think about how lucky we are to be able to play golf every week regardless of the golf course. Back to the main subject, the winner today was Ricardo Castro beating OCB Roland Steiner (92/33) with a solid 79 for 33 points, and in third place was Fritz Katzengruber with a nice 98 for 32 points. With these final results Fritz are the October champion with 71 points, followed by Ricardo with 69 (nice number) and in third place Roland with 67 points. For the LCPOTY and only two months to finish 2025 Ricardo solidified the first place now with 142 points, second still Jan with 76 and Bernhard is now third with 66 points. Diederik paid a visit from Singapore and hope see you soon again. We also celebrated Helmut Dicknoether birthday with a nice box of balls and he contributed with 200.00 rm to the bill. Lunch was good with excellent food and thank you again to Chia for helping me to organize the dishes in advance and secure the private room. It was a very intense and interesting month with our trip to Ipoh, and lets end the years beautifully.

Cheers

Ricardo Castro

KELAB GOLF KINTA IPOH FUN GAME-06-10-2025.

included on our tour schedule, we’ve been trying to play different golf courses when tour outside of KL, and I must say this one was one of the most different and very interesting golf experiences I ever had and I think all of us with such a unique layout and difficult tee box positions, and especially finding the next tee box and where to hit the ball was diffidently a challenging for everyone, with some flights ending playing the wrong green and the wrong fairway. The weather was very hot and dry and the course was in good conditions. I’m sure everyone wants to try again this course.

Cheers

SECOND AWAY GAME AT MERU VALLEY

Back to Meru Valley to play the second game of the away competition, playing now the Valley & River nines. When we arrived at the club, it was raining and sunny at the same time, making a rainbow appear in the sky, but when we started the game, the sky was overcast and the temperature was perfect and cool, which lasted practically the whole morning, ending with sun and very hot and dry conditions. We welcome Marc Louette and Uwe Lukas as the tour virgins. Course conditions was very good but the Valley greens were quite in bad shape but overall played well. For the most birdies competition David was the winner with 2 birdies and for the team competition the Magnificent Four team (Ricardo,Bernhard,Charlie,Marc) were the winners with a combined score of 270 points, second place for the One I-position team (Josef,Jan,Uwe,Diederik) with 259 points and the last team was the Par-Tee Animals (David, Martin,Roland,Reinli) with 228 points. The Ipoh champion was Charlie Chow with a combined score of 79 points, second was Marc Louette with 77 and in third place Jan with 75 points. Well played Charlie, great scores all week and a well deserved win. To close in style the tour, we had a tour dinner and prize giving at the hotel roof top restaurant. In the evening we had the tour’s closing dinner along with the awards ceremony. It is worth to mentioning that all participants were rewarded with a good number of prizes and at the end with a lucky draw. Thank you all for your participation especially those who came from abroad. It was a good crowed, lots of fun and I’m sure everyone enjoyed this week in Ipoh. Its always satisfying to see a good turnout at our tours, and I extend my gratitude for your support to our society. A special word to our sponsors (Interprint, Airdry, The Corkman and the Four Points by Sheraton hotel) for your support during 2025 and especially for the away tour competition. See you guys to the next tour maybe end of March or beginning of April.

Cheers

MERU VALLEY REPORT-07-10-2025

Cannon’s,

The first regular game of October was held at Meru Valley Golf Resort as part of the Ipoh away games itinerary. The early morning was rainy and windy, but by the time the first tee-off was over, the weather was fantastic, with bright sunshine and deep blue sky with nice clouds formations. Its been six years since we last played here, and with a mixture of nostalgia and fond memories, it was with emotion that we once again had the opportunity to play on this wonderful golf course. We also celebrated Chia’s birthday during lunch and everyone was grateful for the 300.00 rm contribution given by the birthday boy, extending the celebrations to the dinner with a special birthday cake. We welcomed Uwe Lukas and Diederik Brinkman visiting Malaysia directly from Phuket and Singapore. Back to the main subject, we first played the Waterfall nine, finishing on the River nine. The fairways on booth courses were in excellent condition and very good greens. The Waterfall nine was much more challenging with difficult and narrow fairways than the River, creating great difficulties for some of the players, especially the one with Jet Lag. Today’s winner was Charlie Chow with and excellent 96 for 37 points, followed by Diederik Brinkman with a solid 94 for 36 points, and in third place was Roland Steiner with a nice 93 for 34 points. The next game will be at Seri Selangor.

Cheers
