KRTU REPORT-17-10-2023

Cannon’s

It was a pleasure to play again KRTU. The course was in good condition with well-maintained greens but very slow and tricky, and cost a lot of strokes to everyone. Six of us were the first time playing at KRTU and in the end, we had good reviews from them. Thank you Zak Zainal for your help in making the bookings and getting a good deal for us and we offer him an LC Cap and a sleeve of balls as a recognition for his efforts and support. We welcomed Frigg Steinmann for his second game with us and I heard he had a great golf experience. The winner today was (again!!) Iain Wise with 100 for 34 points followed by Ricardo Castro with 85 (lowest gross) for 32 points and in third place Josef Winter with 94 for 31 points. After the game, we had a good lunch at the terrace with a good beer promotion, and all happy. With these results the year competition saw Iain Wise jump to first place with a comfortable 73 points, followed by Josef Winter with 78 and David Cheung with 67, but with 2 games to go all still open and we will see some changes. Next week we will be in JB (2 full flights) for our annual way games with the regular game to be held at Forest City Classic course, the first away game at Senibong, and the second away game at Palm Resort, Cempaka course.

Cheers

Ricardo

IMPIAN REPORT-10-10-2023

Cannon’s,

Three full flights teed off from hole one at Impian before 8:00 am and we all finished before noon. The course is always in good condition with nice greens. The weather was hot and humid. The winner today was Iain Wise with a nice 96 for 39 points, beating Fritz Katzengruber OCB by 1 point difference on the back nine, and in third place was Josef Winter with a reasonable 90 for 36 points. Bernhard only played nine holes and had to rush to buy the cake for his wife’s birthday, it seems love is still in the air…With these results for the October competition, Josef is now leading with 68 points, second by David Cheung with 67, and Iain with 66, so all are open for the last three games including the JB away game. We had a fantastic lunch at Kajang Fei Chuai Restaurant, fully sponsored by WL Chia to celebrate his 60th Birthday with special dishes and cool beers. Chia got a special Portuguese bottle of red wine as a birthday gift, and thank you again Chia for organizing such a feast and supporting our society, really very nice of you. This is the true spirit of Loose Cannons and let us keep this spirit always alive and strong. We all wish you a happy year full of happiness and good health.

Cheers

SERI SELANGOR REPORT-03-10-2023

Cannon’s,

We teed off at 8:00am with three full flights! It was very busy at the clubhouse, not with golfers but with a sort of conference going on with all the people in nice black suits with ties and so on. Not for us, we came to play golf in nice weather, sometimes a bit warm, but we didn’t see too much of the have which has come over West Malaysia. The course was in a variable condition, the fairways were not always that nicely cut, and some of the greens were sandy, especially the green on hole # 10 was in a very bad shape with machine marks but nevertheless fast.

So, all in all, a very good morning to play golf.

As usual, we had our lunch in the Beer Factory, where we welcomed Andrew Robinson!! Having had various (nine in total) eye operations, it was good that he joined us again for lunch.

We also welcomed Andy Morrow, haven’t seen him for quite a while, but it seems that he now has some more time to play with us. The last time he played with the Loose Cannons was in December 2021, also at Seri Selangor!!

During lunch, with a lot of beers (30 in total), and pizzas (long waiting times) we celebrated the scores: Ricardo was third with 33 points, Andy was second with 35 points, and Bernard was best of all with 36 points. Congratulations Bernard!

The September champion was Ricardo, who received the prize for being the best last month!

Last but not least we congratulated Iain on his birthday today. As he gave us a generous gift for the kitty, the lunch was still bearable in price. Thanks, Iain and enjoy!

Next week we will play at Impian.

NILAI SPRINGS REPORT-26-09-2023

Cannon’s

This morning we teed off at Nilai Springs well in time with two full flights. We played first the Island nine followed by the Pines nine. Always a good course to play on, well maintained, and hard greens. It must have rained quite a bit the previous night as some of the fairways were quite wet and soggy. The greens were very hard and undulating, so not always easy to read.

The weather was OK, although after 14 holes we had to take shelter for some 15 minutes to let the rain pass, and we could finish the full 18 holes.

Our nineteenth hole, lunch, was at the East of Highway, which was very full and noisy. Anyway, we had a good lunch and we had a nice contribution from Markus, who didn’t pass the lady’s tees on one of the holes.

The third place today was for Fritz with 35 points, Hans was really on the shot with second place with 36 points, and Iain topped everyone with 37 points. Well done Iain!! With these results, Ricardo is the September Champion with 75 points, second Fritz with 73, and third place Iain with 66 points. For the annual competition, Ricardo now with 84 points passed Bernhard and leading now by 1 point, and in third place, is now Jan with 51 points, so all are open for the last 3 months’ games.

We welcomed Frans as a new member of Loose Cannon with his fifth game. We could have done that with Charlie as well, but he chose not to turn up for lunch.

Next week we will play at Seri Selangor.

BUKIT BERUNTUNG REPORT-19-09-2023

cannon’s

Back again to Beruntung with 2 flights and good weather. Course conditions were nice and very pleasant to play even some holes you need to think about what club to use from the tee. we had four travelers who just come back to Malaysia, Josef and Iain just come back from Europe, Frans from Thailand, and Jan from Sandakan, so a lot of stories to update. Frans Bakker played his 4th game and the winner today was Josef Winter with a nice 88 for 38 points, beating Ricardo Castro (lowest gross of 79) OCB, so quite a tied fight for the winner, and on the third place Jan van Driel with 30 points. With these results, Ricardo still leads the monthly competition with 75 points followed by Fritz Katzengruber with 66 followed by Bernhard with 65 points. After the game, we had a nice lunch at Full Moon restaurant.

Cheers

BKT UNGGUL REPORT-12-09-2023

Cannon’s

Always a nice place to play a round of golf, with good weather, and the course in good condition but the buggy track at some points gets damaged and very bumping to go in and out to the fairways. We all played from the blue tees with quite good scores even for the higher handicapers. Markus Nijmeijer played his 5th game and became a full-LC member and got some gifts to celebrate the moment. The winner today was Fritz who beat Ricardo by 1 point, 38 against 37, and in third place was Dave Cheung with a reasonable 34. We stayed at the club for lunch with some cool beers and good food. Next game Bkt Beruntung.

Cheers

AMVERTON REPORT-05-0902023

Gents,

The plan was to tee off with almost three flights at Amverton, but one after one dropped off leaving us with 7 players for a nice early tee off. As always, the course is beautiful, well-maintained and quiet. Great weather to play, and the only thing we could say is that the greens were very slow, and therefore difficult to read. But we made very good progress and therefore we could have a timely and good lunch at the restaurant Kang Guan next to the bridge.

Markus played his fourth game, which means that next time he will be a full-LC member!

Interesting scores as there was quite a gap between the top two and the rest. Fritz and Jan shared third place with 28 points, and Bernhard ended up second with 35 points. The winner this week was Ricardo who played exactly his handicap and ended up with 36 points!! During the lunch, we also congratulated Jan for being the August month champion.

Next week it will be Bukit Unggul.

BKT KEMUNING REPORT-29-08-2023

Gents,

Only 1 flight this morning at Bukit Kemuning. It was very quiet at the course anyway. We managed to tee off at 7.30 and finished, even after the shower in about 4 hours.

The course was in good condition, the greens were a bit slow, and the grass was a bit long, but that was the only remark this morning.

After the game, we stayed at the club for lunch, as the usual restaurant was closed, another one as well, and we were with a small group anyway.

Markus with his 3rd game, finished fourth with 22 points, Jan third with 29 points, and Dave with 32 points had to leave the first place to Bernhard with 33 points. With these results, Jan won the August competition with 77 points beating Ricardo by 1 point, and in third place Roland with a reasonable 70 points. For the annual competition, Ricardo keep chasing Bernhard, now with only 11 points separating the first and second place, followed in third place by Roland with 48 points, and with the last 4 months’ games all still open for the podium.

Next week we’ll play at Amverton Cove.

RAHMAN PUTRA REPORT-22-08-2023

Cannon’s

Always a difficult course to play, The Lakes at Rahman Putra. As the name says, a lot of water on the course. And this time even more than we expected! We started at 9 am because a mistake was made at the club. Only one flight was booked while we were with three full flights!

Anyway, the start was with a grey sky, the drizzle started at hole 4 or so, and a couple of holes later, the skies opened up, and it poured down with rain. We tried to play on, but it really was too much, and a minute later the siren went off meaning that we had to leave the course.

We all played 10 holes, so the scores were made as you see below.

It is a shame, as it is a beautiful course, so it won’t be long before we will be back. Frans Bakker played his 3rd game and Markus Nejmejer his 2nd game.

Next week we’ll play Bukit Kemuning

KOTA SERIEMAS REPORT-15-08-2023

Cannon’s

Today at Kota Seriemas we teed off with 3 full flights, including 4 guests. Frans Bakker and Clive Gordon played their second game for the Loose Cannons and Dave Humphries and Markus Neijmeijer, played for the first time. Welcome guys!! The result was that in this game 4 Dutch players were on the course, and also during lunch!!

The course was in very good condition, and the weather was pleasant to play, but the greens were very tricky. A bit off and you could find yourself further away from the hole than where you started.

Anyway, the scores were generally good, and that was celebrated during lunch at a restaurant we hadn’t been to before. It was a good choice!

We had 3 players in third place: Fritz, Bernhard, and Dave with 33 points. Ricardo ended up second with the lowest gross score of 80 and 36 points. Jan was first today with 38 points!

During lunch, we welcomed Markus with a sleeve of balls, and we celebrated the July winner David and the winner of the day Jan.

Next week we will play at Rahman Putra.
