BKT BERUNTUNG RESULTS-15-02-2022

Cannon’s

We back again to Bkt Beruntung, the course and greens were in good conditions and the weather was

quite humid and hot. This week we only had 2 flights and all came early except Tony who had some

problems with the alarm early morning, but he managed to reach the tee box on time. The winner today

was Ricardo Castro (lowest score) with 85/35 followed closely by Iain Wise with 96/34 and in 3rd place

was Bipan Kapur with a reasonable 103/32 points. Besides the prize ceremony for today’s winner, we also had the prize for Bipan as a January champion. One note for Bent who complete his 4th game, so one

more game and will be a full-LC member. We had our lunch as usual at Full Moon with excellent food,

cold beers, and very reasonable prices.

Cannon’s,

The last time we played Kinrara was before the Covid era and it was the best timing to come back

with almost no rain the course was quite dry even with bad greens. We had quite good

scores with 5 players scoring below their handicaps with the winner (Iain Wise) with a fantastic 87/43

followed by Bipan Kapur with 94/41 and in 3rd place Helmut Dicknoether with a reasonable 90/40 points.

For lunch, we decided to try the Makanan Laut Yoke restaurant, not far from the East of Highway, with

good food and reasonable cost for the beers.

SERI SELANGOR RESULTS-03-02-2022

Cannon’s

We had our CNY game at Seri Selangor with the Three flights teeing off at hole #1 around 8:00am.

The course and greens were in a good condition and the weather was not so hot. The winner

today was Ricardo Castro with 84/36 (lowest gross) followed by our guest Vind Sidhu, playing

his 3rd game with us with 93/32 and in 3rd place was Mr. Consistency Erol Akinci with 110/29.

After the game, we went for the first time to the nearby Beer Factory at Sunway Gisa Mall, and

we all agree this place is a very good option when we play Seri Selangor. Bent also played his 3rd

game and Neil Fenwick are now a full-LC member completing his 5th game and hope he can

remember this fine day. We also had a nice contribution of 200.00Rm from our birthday boy Toni Morris

and used to pay for the drinks, thanks again, Tony.

Next week the game will be held at Kinrara. Happy CNY to everyone and most importantly stay safe.

IMPIAN RESULTS-11-1-2022

Gents,

The second game of the year was held at Impian and we witnessed something unique, our guest (almost full member) had a fantastic HOLE IN ONE at Par 3 Hole # 12 with a magnificent shot that landed softly on the right side of the green and took advantage of the sloop the ball just went straight to the hole with our caddie screaming Hole in one boss, hole in one… Congratulation Bipan, well done, and hope we can see more from you playing with us. After all the excitement we had a good and fast run and surprisingly the course was quite dry, making the ball run more than 30m and also with some strange bounces. The winner was the Mister consistency Erol Akinci with 102/39 followed by our Hole in One guest Bipan Kapur with 100/104 and 3rd place was the unpredictable Tony Morris with 98/29. After the game, we decided to stay for lunch at the club due to the Hole in One prize being consumed on the same day at the club so Bipan organized all the formalities and kindly offer the lunch to 4 of us, thank you Bipan. See you guys next week.

SERI SELANGOR RESULTS – 28-12-2021

All Cannon’s,

The last game of 2021 was held at the always difficult Seri Selangor. For the last 2 years, they have been doing a lot of work, cleaning renovating the buggies track, and later some renovation at the Clubhouse. The course was in good conditions with difficult greens, sometimes fast, some slow, increasing the difficulty to put and judge the right direction. The winner was Andrew Morrow with a fantastic 95/42 following by Erol Akinci with a great round but not enough to beat Andrew with 103/38 followed by Ricardo Castro with 89/31 adding the lowest score of the day. Following these results, Erold Akinci is the December winner and Jan van Driel is the new LC OF THE YEARD CHAMPION, well done Jan, and congratulations. We welcomed our guest Vind Sidhu for his first game with Loose Cannons and we are looking forward to seeing him more times. Seven of us rushed to Bar Roca joining Andrew Robinson and Barry Cousins for a nice lunch and cool beers. We wish a great 2022 to all our members and hope we can see you guys more often at the golf course. See you all next year.

Cheers

BANGI RESULTS-21-12-2021

Cannon’s

It was nice to be back in Bangi and play Putrajaya and Kajang courses. After 3 cancelations we had 2 flights with 3 balls starting around 7:30 with Martin rushing after his taxi broke out on the highway and we all finished around11:00. Even with the heavy rain, we had last weekend the courses were in a good shape, only the first 9 holes on the Putrajaya course were with too much sand, making putting quite difficult to judge the speed and direction. The winner today was Bernhard with 86/36 following by Erol with 106/35 and Dave with 104/33. After the game 5 of us went to Bar Roca for lunch, followed by some cool beers and nice food. A thought to our convenor Jan, hoping his current situation can be solved very soon and he can enjoy life and golf again with us. See you all next week at Seri Selangor for the last game of the year. Merry Christmas again to all extended to all your families and closest friends and stay safe.

LC KL CHRISTMAS LUNCH-17-12-2021

ANDREW AND JAN SPEECH,
Gents,

After a two-year gap due to Covid, it was good to be back with the traditional Cannons Xmas Lunch. This event has always been held at the historic and iconic Coliseum – sadly it has closed for good. Opening in 1921 this year would have been its centenary. A great shame for a building that should have been granted heritage status and so we settled for Hucks Cafe in Bangsar – a very chic and comfortable place for the 12 of us attending the food and service was first rate respect was paid to the Fallen Cannons within an upstanding toast – now 12 on the list sadlyThe traditional madness with novelties was not appropriate at such a venue – but this did not prevent the two virgins Andy Morrow and Neil Fenwick being inducted to the Cannons Hall Of Fame in a suitable manner and there were crackers all around and Andy was also the proud winner of bringing the crappiest bottle of wine – some sort of mangosteen nonsense from Sarawak – and he was fined accordingly. And as the beer and wine flowed so did the jokes and general revelry merry time was had by all.

Andrew Robinson

All Cannon’s

Our Loose Cannons Christmas lunch was again a very lively time together. Now in Huck’s Cafe, in Bangsar, as the Colisseum was sadly closed down. We were with a group of 13, with 2 virgins, Neil and Andrew, who were inaugurated first. Andrew commemorated the Loose Cannons who departed from us, and Jan had a short look back on the crazy and extraordinary year, 2021 has been. The Loose Cannons played only 6.5 months out of 12 due to the various restrictions we had in the country. For various reasons the Loose Cannons group is getting smaller and smaller, but that didn’t have any effect on the good atmosphere, jokes, and songs we had on Friday. Well-fed, with a good quality lunch (even the salmon…..!) and good, and less good wines, we went home again at 4. A very good tradition, which we certainly want to continue.
Andrew, a big thank you for organizing this together with Ricardo.
