Twelve Cannons played the third Ramadan game at Glenmarie Gardens course with overcast but nice weather. The course was in good condition with some fast greens to play. As usual last minute they imposed 2 caddies per flight, making our cost rocket, but with the promotion still razonable. The winner was Frans Bakker with a solid 89 for 38 points, Iain Wise was second with 94 for 35 points, and in third place, Josef Winter shot 33 points. The course was empty and we all finished around 12:00, time enough for a good shower and head to Pantai Seafood restaurant and enjoy a great meal, this time our F&B expert Iain made a good selection. Roland played 100 games and contributed with 100 rm and Iain with 200 rm celebrating the Newcastle victory over Liverpool. for the bill. Frans is now leading the annual competition with 72 points, second is Roland Steiner with 69, and in third place is Fritz Katzengruber and Martin Middleton booth with 67 points.
Ten of us turned south, for a second Ramadan game at the immaculate Kota Seriemas Golf Club. The weather was hot with a nice blue sky most of the round, but on the last 3 holes the sky turned black and started raining for about 10 minutes, but we were able to finish the round dry and happy (for some). The winner today was Roland Steiner with a fantastic 89 for 37 points, second was Bernhard Romahn with 36 points, and in third place were Martin Middleton and Fritz Katzengruber both with 35 points. For the monthly competition, Ricardo is leading with 64 points, second, Bernhard with 63, and in third place Josef with 61. lunch was at the usual Sek Hao Fu with a good food selection by Fritznice and cool beers. The first Ramadan game was held in nice hot weather in Impian, with good fairways and reasonable greens. Three flights of three players each started before the official tee time and with the empty course, we all finished below four hours. We welcomed Peter Andrews for his first game, Clive Gordon completed the mandatory 5 games and became a full-LC member, and Steve Collins played his fourth game. Jan van Driel was the winner, with 35 points even Peter Andrews got 39 points, but following the LC rules, guests can’t win any prize until they complete the first 5 games. Second place was Ricardo Castro and Clive Gordon with 33 points, followed by Steve Collins with 29 points. This was the first game after the Bintan trip, where five of us had a great tour.

The first Bintan away game was played on the sea view course at Bintan Lagoon International Golf Club. The weather was overcast but very pleasant, always with a strong wind blowing all the time no stop. Its interesting layout is much more friendly than the one we played the day before at the Laguna Bintan course. We were all alone on the golf course, making a very fast round finishing the two flights before noon time. Course in great conditions, very fast greens on the first nine, slowing down a lot on the second nine. Josef had the best stf points with 35, Bernhard 34, followed by Jan with 29 points. Very nice day at the golf course, with very professional caddies, making our life easy (maybe for some).

The second away game was held at Ria Bintan (Ocean Course), with nice weather, hot and sunny with a beautiful blue sky, and of course strong wind. On the first day of playing the fun game, the course was absolutely beautiful conditions, dry with fantastic greens. Following the preview days, we were alone at the golf course, making our play no more than 3 hours for the first flight. Bernhard had the best stf of the day with 39 points, followed by Martin with 35 and Ricardo with 32 points. With these results combined with the first away game, Bernhard is the Bintan champion with a total of 73 points, second Josef with 62 (OCB), Martin in third with 62, fourth place to Ricardo with 59, and the last place was Jan with a total of 57 points. Bernhard also won the Most Birdies competition with a combined (3 games) total of 4 birdies. For the Team competition, both teams finished with exactly 98 points each but team 1 Martin & Ricardo (The Fairway Squad) won OCB with the first criteria with the best stf on two games out of the three games with 37.5 and 33.5.

As part of the Bintan tour, the last regular game of February was held at the beautiful Laguna Golf Bintan. The weather was overcast most of the time making a pleasant round to play and a lot of wind. The course conditions were great, with beautiful greens and nice fairways to play. Some of the holes are on the ocean side, with beautiful scenery, beautiful waves, and of course even more wind, but very relaxing view. The winner was Martin Middleton with a rocket score of 82 for 43 points, and according to him, his best score from the last 25 years, so maybe we need to wait 25 years more to witness such a special score. Second place was Josef Winter with a solid 87 for 38 points, followed by Bernhard Romahn with a nice 86 for 35 points. With these results, Martin Middleton is the February champion with 76 points, second Ricardo Castro with 74, and in third place Josef Winter with 72 points. After the first 2 months annual competition, Ricardo Castro is now leading with 28 points, second Martin Middleton with 25, and third place Iain Wise with 24 points. See you all next week at Impian.

Before the Bintan tour, we had the third game of the month at Nilai Springs. We played the Pines nine first and then crossed to the Mango nine. The weather was overcast most of the round, only the last hour being very hot and sunny. The Pines course was wet and challenging, and the Mango course was the opposite conditions with both nines with excellent greens. Steve Collins played his third game. The winner today was WL Chia with an excellent 83 for 43 points, followed by Ricardo with a solid 79 for 35 points, and in third place, Jan van Driel and Josef Winter both with 34 points. With these results, Ricardo still leads the Monthly competition with 74 points, Josef Winter second with 68, and Frans Bakker third with 67 points. Fritz Katzengruber contributed to our lunch bill with 200.00 rm, to celebrate his birthday and he got his deserved birthday gift + the LCOTY 6th place prize. On Saturday we are off to Bintan, and I’m looking forward to seeing you all on the 4th of March.
