For our first away game on Wednesday, we played a totally different course from the day before at Forest City. We played Tanjong Puteri Golf Resort. A real plantation course, old and well established with a lot of very mature palms along the fairways. Combined with a lot of bushes, trees, and water, a very nice course to play. Excellent quality fairways and sometimes a few bumpy greens, we enjoyed it very much. Not too much sun combined with a good breeze, we had a splendid morning. Not too far away from the hotel, we went back to enjoy the pool and an excellent steak dinner in the evening.
Thursday was the second day of the two-day competition. Now we played Horizon Hills, which we played last year as well. Again a different course with different challenges. Hot weather, a lot of sun, and tiredness crept in. Horizon Hills is a high-quality course, which certainly calls for playing more. During our lunch at the club, we had the prize ceremony, well organized by Ricardo, with Jan ending last, Ricardo third, Helmut second, and the most consistent of all was Bernhard with 69 points over the two days. With also a prize for the most birdies (4), Bernhard went home heavy with prizes.
Concluding: we had a great golf outing, a lot of fun together, and 4 great courses to play. JB is a good area with so many choices of courses to play of very high quality.

Great trip and good fun at JB. Looking forward to the next away trip somewhere in Malaysia.

Tuesday we had our official regular Loose Cannons game with 1 full flight. Helmut arrived that morning having seen some lightning on the North-South highway. We played the Classic Course of Forest City Golf Resort. With the experience for the previous day at Ponderosa, we decided to play off the blue tees (total 6589 yards). The course is a gem. It is a fairly new course and it was unbelievable, the quality of the tees, fairways, and greens. And not to forget the bunkers!! Some of them were real beaches or deserts, huge in size, and many splattered around the course. Combined with large and abundant water hazards, a real challenge. That showed clearly in the scores: the lowest gross score was 100 and the highest 110. But, with those disappointing scores, we enjoyed ourselves on this course. Helmut was the winner this time. We enjoyed a good buffet lunch at the course, which was paid for by Jan, who celebrated his birthday a couple of days ago.

A very nice morning we had at Impian. Contrary to our experiences, the course was not wet, in spite of the rain the last few days, and it was not busy at all! We teed off at hole 10, about 10 minutes ahead of our planned tee-off time, and we finished well before noon with our 18 holes. The course was in very good condition, the greens on the first nine, just sanded and still a bit wet, were slow. That was compensated on the back nine with fast greens. It has to be said that Hans captured a number of those greens with fabulous putts from some 20 feet or so. The course is never easy, which was reflected in the scores. Hans and Jan shared third place with 28 points, Ricardo came in second with 30 points and Tony was the day winner with 32 points.

After heavy rain the day before, the course of KGSAAS was in a good condition. Of course, the fairways didn’t give any roll, but they were very good playable and apart from some small spots not soggy at all. The greens were good, in particular on the second nine, fast and not easy to read. We played with two flights, a two-ball, followed by a three-ball, and we had the course almost to ourselves. The result was that we were all having lunch at 12 and Ricardo and Dave had to wait about an hour before the rest came in. A very enjoyable morning it was again.
The winner was Helmut (again), who played exactly his handicap with 36 points, Dave ended as second and Ricardo and Iain as shared third.

A beautiful morning on a beautiful course. Amverton Cove always is a pleasure to play on. This morning it was particularly quiet. Our small group, 1 flight only, enjoyed the good condition of the course. The greens were very difficult to read. Most of the time very slow, and sometimes faster, which caused us to miss a lot of puts. The one who mastered the course best was our winner, Erol, with 39 points and Ricardo and Jan in second and third place respectively. Erol, congratulations on the voucher! As the course was empty, we teed off early and had a good pace, as a result of which we had an early lunch at ISuka. Driving home was a bit of a challenge with heavy downpours, which caused some delays on the motorways.
Next week we will try our skills at KGSAAS.

It was a hot and long day at the Hills course at Rahman Putra. We teed off a bit later than usual and hoped for, because of all the members who started walking ahead of us. And that also caused us to wait and wait and wait. I think we broke the record for taking 5,5 hours for the full round of golf. And it was getting warmer and warmer. It wasn’t easy to keep on concentrating during all 18 holes. Some of us were much better at it than others…..
Anyway, the course was in a very fine condition, only on hole 10 the wild boars had done quite some damage to the fairway. Talking to the course manager later, he said that they have a real problem there and they weren’t sure what to do about it (electric fencing was too dangerous for the members………).
So we had a late lunch at the club, with several prices to give away. The winner of the day was Siggy with an excellent 38 points!! Well done. The second was Ricardo and the third was Bernhard. Ricardo and Siggy had the lowest gross score of 88 and Jan broke his own record to take 112 strokes over the 18 holes…..
The October winner was Helmut, so he got his well-deserved prize. The birthday boy was Ricardo, with his prize and making sure we didn’t have to pay anything for lunch. Many thanks, Ricardo!
Next week is Amverton Cove on the program, we haven’t played there since April.

And again a very good choice to play at Kota Seriemas. I was a bit afraid of the condition of the course after the prolonged and heavy rain the day before, but we were all pleasantly surprised. No real soggy places on the fairway, the greens were in very good condition, so a pleasure to go around the course. It is not a very easy one, we know this, but a good challenge keeps us on our toes during the morning. We had a good and relaxed start, not too busy during the first nine, and we got a slow flight before us on the second nine, but actually not too bad.
We enjoyed a good lunch at East of Highway, also a place which we haven’t been to for a long time. First the scores: A bit on the low side, with only Iain beating his handicap with 37 points. Well done Iain!! Helmut, Bernhard, and Dave shared second place with 32 points.
We celebrated Helmut’s birthday (also at his first tee-off….) and thanks to his generous gift, the costs for lunch were kept relatively low. We also celebrated Iain’s birthday, as I forgot last time to take a present with me………
We had a couple of announcements, and emails have been sent out to that effect:- Next week we play Rahman Putra- Shirts 2022 can still be ordered, now through Ricardo- The away days are planned for 7 – 9 December in JB- Our Christmas get together is on 17 December

It was a pleasure to play Staffield again. As we know it is a course well maintained, and also this time we were not disappointed at all. In spite of the rains we had over the last couple of days, this course was in very good condition. From tee to green, no comments at all, only good ones. We all enjoyed ourselves in the morning, although some of us had one or two problems with our own game…As the convener, I decided to play the bunkers again, as the course told me that this was OK, so we were prepared, until we saw the sign at the first tee, that bunkers were not in play. So that is how also conveners get overruled!
We welcomed Hans Berger back again!!! Hans, it was good to see you again on the course, and also during the lunch afterward.
We had two full flights this morning, and we all stayed for lunch. This is a very positive and unique happening. It is part of our philosophy that our golf match only finishes after lunch together. It does enhance the community spirit and the chatting around the table is more than welcome!
The scores showed quite a large spread with Bernhard hammering the course with 39 points!! Congratulations, Bernhard. The second was Jan, playing exactly his handicap, and Erol finished third with 32 points. Hans received the mystery gift for being with us again after a very long time. The winner of the month of October is Helmut, which we will celebrate next week, together with his birthday…….

Our summary of the game at Nilai was: a good course (we played Mango and Island)  in a nearly perfect condition, from tee to green. And indeed it was, the course was in a great shape, which could not be said from the players who were using it……, but more about that later.The weather was very good to us, not too much sun, a good breeze every now and then, and we finished the 18th hole when the first rain came down. That rain changed into a pouring deluge later, which caused some problems on the road back to KL. In spite of the variable quality of golf we played, we enjoyed the morning out.And these were the scores: Iain was the only one who conquered the course, and stayed below the 100 strokes: 94 – 36.  so he deserved the voucher!! Even the winner of the last two weeks, Helmut scored much lower: 102 – 30. Jan and Bernhard closed the ranks with respectively 101 – 28 and 100 – 23. Anyway, this is golf…. Because of the weather we enjoyed some drinks and food at the club, and next week we will see each other at Staffield.

We had a very good and pleasant game at Bukit Beruntung today. We remember the course from years back, frequently dug up by the wild boars, but since the fencing has been installed, the tees, fairways and greens are in a very good condition. Always a pleasure to play there in the middle of a nice mix of forest and oil palm plantation. At times so quiet, that really nothing can be heard…………The only thing to take care of is to be aware of the monkeys trying to steal stuff from the buggies!
The scores were quite good, although we had some balls strayed off in the trees or half in the water, but that didn’t harm our fun and skills to get good scores this morning.
Helmut won (again!!!), now with 92 – 42, Iain was second with 92 – 38, Jan third with 95 – 34 and Bernhard closed the ranks with 90 – 33. So Helmut received the voucher and Bernhard belts as a September Champion, to keep his shorts up, after having too much food and drinks.A good lunch with some beers at restaurant Full Moon was our reward after the game.
