Cannon’s,

The first game of the Ipoh away competition was played at the magnificent and lush Royal Perak Golf Club. Three flights were ready to tee-oof before 9:00 am with bright sunshine, blue skies and very dry conditions. Excellent fairway conditions and beautiful greens. Marc Louette and Charlie Chow had a good game booth with 39 points, followed by Roland Steiner and Jan van Driel booth with 37 points, putting them on the driving position to win the competition. We had lunch at the club and celebrated Reinli Tan birthday and he contributed with 300.00 rm to the bill. Marc had a symbolic prize for his good performance.

SECOND AWAY GAME AT MERU VALLEY

Back to Meru Valley to play the second game of the away competition, playing now the Valley & River nines. When we arrived at the club, it was raining and sunny at the same time, making a rainbow appear in the sky, but when we started the game, the sky was overcast and the temperature was perfect and cool, which lasted practically the whole morning, ending with sun and very hot and dry conditions. We welcome Marc Louette and Uwe Lukas as the tour virgins. Course conditions was very good but the Valley greens were quite in bad shape but overall played well. For the most birdies competition David was the winner with 2 birdies and for the team competition the Magnificent Four team (Ricardo,Bernhard,Charlie,Marc) were the winners with a combined score of 270 points, second place for the One I-position team (Josef,Jan,Uwe,Diederik) with 259 points and the last team was the Par-Tee Animals (David, Martin,Roland,Reinli) with 228 points. The Ipoh champion was Charlie Chow with a combined score of 79 points, second was Marc Louette with 77 and in third place Jan with 75 points. Well played Charlie, great scores all week and a well deserved win. To close in style the tour, we had a tour dinner and prize giving at the hotel roof top restaurant. In the evening we had the tour’s closing dinner along with the awards ceremony. It is worth to mentioning that all participants were rewarded with a good number of prizes and at the end with a lucky draw. Thank you all for your participation especially those who came from abroad. It was a good crowed, lots of fun and I’m sure everyone enjoyed this week in Ipoh. Its always satisfying to see a good turnout at our tours, and I extend my gratitude for your support to our society. A special word to our sponsors (Interprint, Airdry, The Corkman and the Four Points by Sheraton hotel) for your support during 2025 and especially for the away tour competition. See you guys to the next tour maybe end of March or beginning of April.

Cheers

MERU VALLEY REPORT-07-10-2025

Cannon’s,

The first regular game of October was held at Meru Valley Golf Resort as part of the Ipoh away games itinerary. The early morning was rainy and windy, but by the time the first tee-off was over, the weather was fantastic, with bright sunshine and deep blue sky with nice clouds formations. Its been six years since we last played here, and with a mixture of nostalgia and fond memories, it was with emotion that we once again had the opportunity to play on this wonderful golf course. We also celebrated Chia’s birthday during lunch and everyone was grateful for the 300.00 rm contribution given by the birthday boy, extending the celebrations to the dinner with a special birthday cake. We welcomed Uwe Lukas and Diederik Brinkman visiting Malaysia directly from Phuket and Singapore. Back to the main subject, we first played the Waterfall nine, finishing on the River nine. The fairways on booth courses were in excellent condition and very good greens. The Waterfall nine was much more challenging with difficult and narrow fairways than the River, creating great difficulties for some of the players, especially the one with Jet Lag. Today’s winner was Charlie Chow with and excellent 96 for 37 points, followed by Diederik Brinkman with a solid 94 for 36 points, and in third place was Roland Steiner with a nice 93 for 34 points. The next game will be at Seri Selangor.

KINRARA REPORT-30-09-2025

Cannon’s,

With the reopening of Kinrara, today we tested all the work made by the new management and we were pleased to see major improvements specially on the greens and a major cleanup around the course, making the course much more attractive to play. With the special promotion, the number of players has been a large influx, and the car park has become too small to accommodate this “invasion”, with many forced to park their cars on the main street, gas station and McDonald’s parking, truly never seen before. We all started on hole # 1 and the first 9 holes the pace was smooth finishing in 2 hours, but the worst was yet to came on hole 10th and 11th there was congestion with 3 to 4 flights waiting their turn to tee-off, making the total game time over 5 hours. Today’s winner was again Steve Collins with a solid 94 for 39 points, Clive Gordon came second with 31 points, and Ricardo Castro and Fritz Katzengruber shared the third place with 28 points. With these results, Steve Collins are the September Champion with 82 points, followed by David Evans with 77 and in third place Ricardo and Jan booth with 74 points. In the annual competition,Ricardo remains solid in first place with 128 points, Jan maintained and reinforced his second place, distancing himself from third place now with 76 points. Bernhard even he is not playing this month, maintains third place with 58 points. We finished the morning program at the East of Highway with nice flavors of food and refreshing beers. We closed the month of September on a high note, it was a very competitive month leaving everything open for the last game, even thought it was a shame that in the last 3 games there was a very low turnout. As you know, next week we will play our 2025 second away games in Ipoh and all the 13 participants are looking forward for a great week of golf and fun.

Cheers

BKT JALIL REPORT-23-09-2025

Cannon’s,

The course at Bukit Jalil was in a very good condition this morning. Even after the heavy storm yesterday, the fairways and greens were well kept. If anything you could say that some of the greens were a bit patchy, but on the whole a good speed and not easy. To be honest, it is a good course, not easy, a lot of challenges, and good to play. I think we should play this more, in spite of what some of our members are saying…..

The weather was good to start with, with getting hotter during the last nine holes. In particular on this course, where the buggies are not allowed on the fairways, that was a trying combination.
Anyway, with Hans coming in late (‘wrong turnoff’) and Steve really late (“everything went wrong this morning”), we all had a good game with a good lunch and Sapporo beers at the club.
Hans celebrated that he came out of the hospital 5 years ago (it is indeed that long ago!!), and he was so generous to pay for the lunch. Hans, we are very happy that you picked up golf again and that you are one of the most faithful players in LC. Thanks for the lunch!!

The 4th place today was for Steve with 32 points, the third place for Roland with 33 points, and second was Jan with 34 points, beaten on count back by Josef, also 34 points.

For the monthly competition David Evans still leading with 77 points, followed by Steve Collins with 75, and in third place, Ricardo Castro and Jan van Driel booth with 74, so all open to play next week.
Thanks and well done and see you next week at Kinrara.

Cheers

KGSAAS REPORT-18-09-2025

Dear Freinds,

A Beautiful Round of Golf

What a wonderful round we had today! With only four players, it was just a single flight out on the course. The weather treated us kindly with light sunshine, and since everyone showed up early, we were able to tee off shortly after 7:30.

We played the President and Sultan courses, both of which were in excellent condition. It couldn’t have been more relaxed: no group in front of us, none behind us – so we played completely at our own rhythm.

Despite these good conditions, and although everyone gave their best, the scores didn’t quite match the beautiful setting. The day’s winner was Steve Collins with 30 Stableford points, Josef followed in second with 27, edging out Marc, who also had 27, and David Evans with 21 points. With these results, David Evans still firmly leading the monthly competition with 74 points, Ricardo Castro is second with 74, Steve Collins in third place with 73 points, so still a lot to fight for, on the last 2 games before Ipoh trip.

We wrapped things up with a good lunch at the club, ending what was, overall, a thoroughly enjoyable day of golf.

Cheers

BKT KEMUNING REPORT-09-09-2025

Cannon’s,

It was a raining morning on the way to Bkt Kemuning, but all finished before our tee time, and we had such a pleasant weather all round, even overcast, so well organized by our convenor, :-))). Today we had three flights (11 players) and we all tee off from the hole one and we had a quick round with no long waiting. The course played very well (look the results) with dry fairways, even many of them was no grass, but we all managed good shots, and very nice greens. Today’s winner was Steve Collins with an excellent 92 for 43 points (you can see a lot of improvement on his game), second place with another excellent result was David Evans (his favorite course) with 96 for 41 points, and in third place was the August champion with one more excellent result of 90 for 39 points. With these excellent results, the monthly competition, David Evans is now the leader with a solid 77 points, followed by Ricardo Castro with 74 and in third place is Jan van Driel with 71 points, so with 3 games to play I can predicted all still open a lot of changes on the standings for the final prize. Lunch at the usual restoran with a good number and today we had a special contribution of 500.00 rm from Frans Bakker, who will not be playing with us so often due some family changes, but you are a full member and you know the door are always open for you at any time to play with us. Thank you again for your generous contribution and hope see you soon. We also had a guest Elliot Crouch (Steve’s nephew) for his first game and he got one LC sleeve of balls as a welcome gift. Next week the place to play the third game will be at KGSAAS on 18-9-2025 due the PH on Tuesday.

RAHMAN PUTRA REPORT-12-08-2025

Cannon’s,

No doubt, the best time to play Rahman Putra. The weather was hot and dry with beautiful blue sky all morning. Fantastic course conditions with nice fairways and perfect greens. Lakes course are not easy to play, but today’s conditions helped to shorten the distances with very dry fairways, and well maintained. It was a pleasure to see David Evans, who join us for lunch and contributed generously paying for all the beers. We all looking forward to seeing him playing golf with us very soon. Today’s winner was Ricardo Castro with 79 for 33 points, second was Bernhard Rohman with 32 points, and in third place with his best round, was Marc Louette with 109 for 29 points. Today no one was able to play their handicaps, showing how difficult this course is. Also nice was to see Montano Yee playing with us, after a long absence. Bernhard is now leading the monthly competition with 65 points, followed closely by Ricardo with 63 and Frans with 61, so lots to play for the last 2 games of the month. Next week, Nilai is the chosen club to play the third game of August.
