This morning was a wonderful morning for a game of golf. The course was in good condition, the weather was overcast and every now and then a breeze could be felt. In other words: magnificent. If you would like to make a comment, it is about the greens of the first nine (we played Alam Shah and Sultan). They were variable in speed and therefore difficult to read.
But the scores were good: Ricardo (lowest score of 82) and David shared third place with 34 points, Jan came in second with 35 points and Iain smashed his handicap with 38 points, and again a round below 100!!
We finished the game with lunch at the club, and we will see each other again next week at Staffield.
We started with two full flights, in time, and it was warm to start with. Luckily the clouds came up during the second nine.
The course was in good condition, as usual, and the greens looked faster than they actually were. But no complaints. Some of the bunkers were very difficult to play as it rained heavily the night before. That was also the reason that the buggies were not allowed on the fairways.
Two guests joined us, David Pearce, who played with us before, and Frans Bakker, who played his first game with us and received the welcome sleeve of balls.
The scores showed that it wasn’t easy this morning. Number three, Chia, had 29 points, number 2, Iain, walked away with 32 points and the winner was Roland with 34 points. Roland received the 50 Ringgit as the week’s prize.
An early start today couldn’t prevent a very sticky and humid day. Warm and tiring were the remarks I heard. Anyway, the course was in good condition with fast and very undulating greens. Always a challenging course, Seri Selangor. We teed off with three full flights and 10 of us joined for lunch in the Beer Factory, where we met up with Andrew Robinson. Haven’t seen him for a while, and he is still undergoing all kinds of operations, but he is keen to come back to the group to take his chances on the golf course. Andrew, it would be so good to see you again on one of our flights!!
The results show that the course isn’t easy: the shared third place was for Martin and Dave with 31 points. Ricardo had the lowest gross score with 87. The winner(s) were Fritz and Chia with both 33 points, but there can only be one real winner and that was Fritz with 18 points in the last nine, whereas Chia had 16.
Well done Fritz!!
We also congratulated Bent on being the champion of the month of June!
Next week, we will play Impian.

APPRECIATION GIFT FOR JOSEF WINTER. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
The first game of May was held at Seri Selangor on a very hot morning and the course was in perfect condition but with very fast greens. We all tee off from hole 10 and it took 4 hours and 30 minutes to finish the round with 2 slow flights in front of our first flight waiting for every hole to tee off. The winner today was Bernhard Romahn with a nice 83 for 37 points, followed in second by David Cheung with a reasonable 91 for 34 points, and in third place was Ricardo Castro with 83 for 33 points. Only 6 of us went to the nearest restaurant Beer Factory for a nice meal and cool beers. The next 5 games, Josef Winter will be organizing the games until the end of May. See you guys in July, stay strong and keep supporting our Society.
Cheers

READY TO USE AT THE GREEN HOLE # 17. DO NOT HESITATE.
The last Ramadan game was held at Palm Garden, with 3 flights sharp at 8:00am, with the first flight teeing off at hole # 1 and flights two and three at hole # 10 and we all finished around noon time. The course is always in good shape with tricky greens, some of them fast some quite slow, which cost extra stocks to everyone. The winner today was WL Chia with a good 89 for 37 points, followed by our guest Charlie Chow who played his third game with a reasonable 94 for 35 points, and in third place Ricardo Castro and David Cheung booth with 33 points. With these results the monthly champion is WL Chia with 71 points, the same points as Ricardo Castro but Chia won, and followed the first criteria, from the two best games he had the highest score (37), so congratulations to Chia, well done. Joe Huggies (guest of Michael Fenner) played his first game with us, and got a nice LC sleeve of balls, compensating for his loss on hole 12 as a welcome gift and we are looking forward to seeing him again. Hans Berger requested lunch at the club and kindly sponsored 100% of the bill celebrating his birthday with us in advance we had a few jugs of beer and nice food, so Hans once more thank you for your support and offer, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY. The next game will be at Seri Selangor.
Cheers

Barry joined Loose Cannons in 2005 and was a regular and enthusiastic playing member with 353 games on his belt until the 4th of September 2015 his last game at Bukit Kemuning when health problems prevented him from continuing. In those early years, Barry lived in Kota Kemuning and was a member of Kota Permai Golf Club and helped us with bookings there at the member’s guest rate. Barry spent many years in Hong Kong where he met his wife Noel. Barry & Noel came to Malaysia under the Silver Hair program…the forerunner of MM2H.
I last spoke to Barry on Friday the 14th of April before his flight to Switzerland and we had a good chuckle over some of his misadventures which included his TVR catching fire and leaving Tasik Puteri. And the replacement BMW collided with a very large oil palm tree….also leaving Tasik Puteri. Then there was the Malacca away when Barry mistook the instructions of “baggage allowed”. Apparently, in HK this meant something else!
Barry was a world-renowned Philatelist and author of several books on Irish Stamps. Barry was very active in the British ex-pat community and was always ready to help.
Barry was diagnosed with cancer 3 years ago and fought it without complaint but when it became terminal Barry took a pragmatic decision. I salute you Barry Cousins, a man of great courage and pragmatism. Barry will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

The third game of April was held at Tropicana Golf Course, with two flights we tee off at 8:00am at East 2 Nine with nice fairways and fast greens. Back nine we played the West 3 nine also in the same conditions with a good game speed finishing around noontime. Roland beat OCB Iain to claim the first spot with 96 for 33 points and third place went to Siegmund with 98 for 28 points. The final results reflected how difficult is Tropicana, with tricky greens costing extra putts to everyone. Mark Davies played the second game with us. With these results in the monthly competition, Ricardo stays firm in first place with 71 points followed by Roland with 67 and Iain with 63, so still open for the last game at Palm Garden. Lunch was at the club with nice cool beers and reasonable food.
It was nice to play again KGPA after a long time because is so hard to get slots in the morning and this time I manage to have three flights with a Ramadam promotion. We played Hills (flights 1 and 2) and flight 3 started Lakes Nine. Hot weather and slow players in front of us but we enjoyed the well-maintained fairways and excellent greens. The winner today was Ricardo Castro with 80 for 36 points, followed by WL Chia, Roland Steiner (Birthday Boy), and Robert Mulliss, all with 34 points. Lunch was at nearby Bar Roca and Roland sponsored our lunch contributing with 200 rm celebrating his birthday we all say thank you and Happy birthday young Roland.
Great morning at Glenmarie playing the Gardens course, with very nice conditions and nice greens even most of them sandy. This was our first Ramadam game and the course was not so busy with only 18 flights but in the back nine we were behind these fantastic players playing from the blue tee playing their third shot only about 200 meters from the tee box, but they keep going proudly playing their happily slow game without care about the 5 flights they were holding behind them. Anyway was a fun game, very hot and we manage to reach the restaurant before 1pm. The winner today was Ricardo Castro with 81/34 points followed by the strong Austrian, Siegmund with 94 for 32 points, and in third position was Helmut with 96 for 31 points. After the game, only 5 of us headed to Pantai Seafood restaurant where we had a nice meal (Ramadam package), ordered by our F&B expert Tony Morris and of course with nice and cool beers. Ricardo received his prize for today’s victory and March champion. Thanks to everyone to keep supporting our society.
Cheers

WELCOME GIFT FOR MARK DAVIES, FOR HIS FIRST GAME WITH LC.
We back to Tasik Puteri and played Tasik and Puteri courses and the first nine were quite wet and difficult greens to put. We had 2 groups in front of us with quite slow players which makes some of our members quite nervous and complained to some of the players later we saw the Marshall but as usual, nothing happen. Any way overall was a nice morning with great company. The winner today was Iain Wise with a nice 34 points, the second was Tony Morris with 33 points, followed by 3 players with 30 points sharing the third position. With these results the champion of March is Ricardo Castro with 67 points, beating Tony Morris OCB with the hights score from the best 2 games (36). For the LCOTY competition, Bernhard still holds the first position with 40 points, followed closely by Ricardo with 31 and Martin and Montano booth with 20 points are sharing the third position. Birthday Boy David Cheung contributed 120.00Rm for the drinks. Next week will be playing Glenmarie for our first Ramadam game.
