DANAU REPORT-15-07-2025

Cannon’s,

Three flights started before 8:00am on hole # 10. The first 5 holes the weather was sunny and pleasant, but after that it got very hot and dry till the end of the game, making Reinli consume more beer. Course was in good condition, with nice but difficult greens as always, but its golf. The last 5 holes we were behind a jumbo flight and can you believed, they were 8 players, but luckily they let the first 2 flights pass them and we all finished the round before noon. Any way we complained with the Marshall on this situation but not much to change as we just get some smiles and “so sorry boss” as an answer. The winner today was again Reinli Tan (lots of improvement with the new set of clubs) with a massive 43 points, followed by Ricardo Castro (lowest gross of 73) and Jan van Driel both with a solid 39 points, and in third place Bernhard Romahn with a reasonable 35 points. For the monthly competition Reinli is now the new leader with 77 points, second is Jan with 73 and Ricardo in third place with 72 points. Next week, lets show off our golf skills at Impian.

Cheers

BKT BERUNTUNG REPORT-08-07-2025

Cannon’s,

We teed off with three flights, one 3-ball and 2 full flights before 8 am at Bukit Beruntung, under a very dark cover of clouds. And yes, the first flight just teed off and had to stay in the buggy for 10 – 15 minutes because of heavy rain. The other two flights found shelter in the driving range.

After the rain stopped, the weather was nice and cool. The rain didn’t have that much effect on the course. The quality of the fairway and greens was really nice. That was reflected in the scores as well (or are we so good…..??)

The first flight was really flying through the course (including Fritz with stomach problems!), and had to wait after the game about 1 hour until the second flight came in. That flight was also reduced to a 3-ball as Reinli was exhausted from the previous evening/night activities. Marc Louette played his third game.

The last couple of holes the sun came out and we finished in real nIce sunny, not too warm weather. The winner today was Frans Bakker with 36 points, second was Martin Belderink with 35 and in third place Jan van Driel and Steve Collins both with 34 points. With these results Jan is now leading the monthly competition with 66 points, followed by Iain Wise with 63 and Josef Winter with 61, so all still open for the last 3 games of July. Lunch was enjoyed in the restaurant Full Moon, where Martin sponsored the lunch because of his 200th game!! Many thanks and well done, Martin.

Next week we’ll play at Danau. See you next week.

Cheers

THE ROYAL KAMPUNG KC REPORT-01-07-2025

Cannon’s,

What a time to play Royal Kampung Kuantan club, with great course conditions, dry fairways and excellent greens. You can see a lot of upgrading on the buggy station, buggy tracks, looker room and a lot of cleaning around the fairways and greens areas, so for sure they are on the right track improving the course and facilities. Weather was hot, dry, sunny and a nice blue sky all morning. Marc Louette played his second game and for sure more to play. Flights 1 & 2 started on the hole 1 and flight 3 started on hole # 10. Everyone struggled between holes 1 to 9, with the water traps and the result was a lots of balls lost and many penalties. The winner today (after 15 years) was Reinli Tan with a nice 106 for 34 points, second was Ricardo Castro with 79 for 33 and Jan van Driel and Iain Wise shared the third place with 32 points. Ricardo Castro also received his June champion prize. Lunch at Jet Mei Seafood with nice food and cool beers. Next week Bkt Beruntung is the place to be.

BERJAYA HILLS REPORT-24-06-2025

Cannon’s,

Berjaya Hills Golf & Country Club is wonderfully located in the hills north east of KL, offering scenic views and cool weather. Nine of us had a good drive up the mountain side for a wonderful and unique golf experience. This time the course was dry, fairways were in good conditions, bunkers were very messy and in need of repair and re-sanding, the greens were not to bad only a few with some parts potholed and patchy, making putting a random lottery, but much better then the last time we played here. We had a pleasant weather, blue sky, sunshine with some nice clouds formations, a good combination to take some nice pictures. The winner today was Ricardo Castro with a solid 77 for 36 points, Reinli came second with a nice 106 for 35 points, and in third place Bernhard Romahn with 88 for 32 points. Bernhard had 22 points on the first nine, but on the second nine his game went down hill, losing a great opportunity to archive a special score. With the last game of the month done, Ricardo is the June champion with 75 points, followed by Reinli with 68 and in third place Roland and Fritz ended up both with 67 points. For the year competition and with the final June results, Ricardo solidified his first position, with 96 points, second is now Bernhard with 50 and Iain Wise and Martin MIddleton are sharing the third place both with 47 points. Half year done and still a lot to fight for the points. Post game lunch at Restaurant 126 down in the valley at Bkt Tinggi, with nice food and cold beers. See you all next week at Royal Kampung for another and different gold experience.

KGSAAS REPORT-17-06-2025

Cannon’s

The Loose Cannons gathered this week at the beautiful KGSAAS Golf Club, where 11 players across 3 flights teed off on the Sultan Course, later continuing on to Alam Shah for the second nine. Each flight was accompanied by two caddies, and with the course not too crowded, we enjoyed a relaxed pace throughout the round.

We were especially pleased to welcome Marc Louette, who joined us for his very first game with the group.

The weather was on our side: pleasantly overcast, cool, and with only a brief drizzle of less than 30 minutes. Despite recent rains, the course held up well – not too wet – although the greens on the second nine were noticeably bumpy, adding an extra challenge to our putting game.

It wasn’t the most high-scoring day, but we’ll gladly blame those back-nine greens!

🏆 Josef Winter took first place with only 30 points (gross 90).

🥈 Frans Bakker also scored 30 points but lost narrowly on countback.

🥉 Third place was shared between Roland Steiner and Reinli Tan, both with 29 points.

Unfortunately, Roland couldn’t join us for lunch, but the rest of us headed to the clubhouse where we celebrated with a couple of well-deserved cold beers.

We had two special milestones to honor:

🎉 Erol celebrated his 400th game with Loose Cannons – an impressive achievement! He generously marked the occasion with a donation of 400 RM.

🎂 Dave, who had his birthday in May, was also celebrated and contributed 200 RM to the kitty. A heartfelt thank you to both for your generosity, and congratulations again!

Cheers

A FAMOSA REPORT-10-06-2025

Cannon’s,

Four brave Cannons, traveled to Famosa Golf Resort (“A Galaxy far, far away”), to play the second game of the month in style. Crocodile and Palm course was the choice and no regrets, this two nines were in great condition, with nice fairways and very good greens. Palm nine definitively the best nine of the 3 courses, even long but with nice holes to play and great layout. Weather was cloudy and very pleasant all morning. The winner was Ricardo Castro with a short 82 for 31 points, but enough to beat the German duo Bernhard Romahn and Josef Winter both with 29 points, Martin came last with 28 points. Ricardo had is prize for the May champion and the June competition Ricardo is now leading with 70 points, second is Josef with 65 and in third place Bernhard with 61 points. Besides of our regular LC game, Monday we played Orna and today, myself, Josef and Bernhard we had a nice round at Tiara Melaka and the privilege to have lunch with our LC father, Mike Smith. It was a nice mini tour with good food, new restaurants and great fun, and for sure we will repeat again.

BKT KEMUNING REPORT-03-06-2025

Cannon’s,

The first game of June was held at Bkt Kemuning with 3 flights starting on hole 1 before 8:00 am. The weather was cloudy and cool, due the big storm early morning for 1 hour, with strong wind and heavy rain, but all stop before our game started. The winner today was Ricardo Castro with a solid 74 for 39 points, second was Roland Steiner with a nice 88 for 38 points, and Fritz Katzengruber and Jan van Driel, booth sharing the third place with 37 points. The course was wet but playable, with slow but nice greens. I miss the lunch due my trip to the East coast, but I heard it was nice and everyone enjoyed the food and the cool beers.

SEREMBAN INTERNATIONAL GOLF CLUB REPORT-29-05-2025

Cannon’s,

Due to the special traffic restrictions in KL during this week, the game was moved to Thursday to avoid any problems with road and highway blocks, and Seremban International was the choice for our last game of the month. Two full flights started on hole # 10, before 8:00 am with quite dark clouds in front of us, and strong wind, bringing some rain between hole 17 and hole 4, finishing the round with a nice cool weather. We had the honor to play with the club Vice-President Mr. Tengku Nazreen (Reinli’s freind) who help me to organize the game and lunch with VIP service and a big thank you for his hospitality and friendship. It was challenging to play this course from the blue tees, very dry fairways, running quite hard, getting a bounce and ending up a yard off, and in a horrible lie happened a few times, lots of traps specially on the back nine where is easy to find small pounds and water drainage all the way. The greens were difficult to put, due to the pin position and tricky lines, but everyone enjoyed playing this course and for sure, we will be back soon. We also celebrated Marvin Gan his 5th game, and he got a special gift and now he his a full LC member. Mr. Nazreen had 38 points, but following our rules, no win for guest until they became a full member, so Josef Winter was the official winner with 90 for 34 points, second place was Ricardo Castro with 32 points, and in third place was Bernhard Romahn with only 30 points. With these final results, Ricardo is the May champion with a solid 81 points, followed by Bernhard with 69 and in third place, Jan van Driel with 66. For the Player of the Year competition, Ricardo reinforced his first position, now with 76 points, Iain Wise is second with 47, but very close are now Bernhard with 46 and Martin Middleton with 45 points. With almost half year played, we still a lot to play and lets open the June competition at Bkt Kemuning.

NILAI SPRINGS REPORT-20-05-2025

Cannon’s,

Two flights started on Mango nine, and cross over to the Island nine, with very hot and humid weather. Some of the fairways the grass was quite burned, maybe to much chemicals, but overall the course played well, with very nice greens, even they were very fast and tricky as usual, costing to many of us extra puts. The winner today was Frans Bakker with an excellent 86 for 41 points, beating Ricardo Castro who played the lowest gross, of 74 for 40 points, and in third place was Martin Middleton with a reasonable 90 for 34 points. For the May competition, Ricardo Castro cemented his first position with a solid 81 points, second is Jan van Driel with 66 and in third place Bernhard Romahn close the podium with 64 points. Steve Collins played his 5th game and became a full Loose Cannons member, well done Steve and welcome to the family. Lunch at the club and Reinli Tan and Steve Collins contributed for the beers bill due to their consistency playing behind the ladies tee, so we are looking forward for the next games for more free beers. See you all next week at Seremban International Golf Club for our last game of the month.

BKT JALIL REPORT-13-05-2025

Cannon’s,

After a long absence of 2 years and 4 months, we back to Bkt Jalil with 2 full flights for a nice round of golf. The course was wet but playable and we need a lot of golf management and a good distance reading to get the ball on the green to avoid some plugged balls if played short. Martin Middleton and Frans Bakker played the course for the first time and I hope they enjoyed the round, but when I saw the results, I can feel a lot of frustration in the air. Any way, after they finally dropped the caddies and green fees, we have now one more option to play time to time. The weather was very hot and humid, with a nice blue sky all morning, the fairways even wet they played well, but the greens were quite fast and tricky. The winner today was again Ricardo Castro with an excellent 76 for 38 points, followed by Jan van Driel with 98 for 30 points, and in third place was Martin Middleton with 28 points. With two games to complete the May competition, Ricardo Castro is now leading the pack with a solid 79 points, followed by Jan van Driel with 64 and Tony Morris with 58 points. Lunch again at East of Highway restaurant, with only 5 players + Andrew Robinson who got his birthday gift. We all wish to Iain Wise and all the Kloger’s a great extravaganza trip to South of Chon Buri. See you all next week at Nilai Springs for our usual game.
