Results – Tasik Puteri Golf & Country Club – 20th December 2011

Cannons all,

This was the Christmas game and in the spirit of the occasion all participants had been asked to wear appropriate festive headgear at assembly and on the first Tee. A couple of us didn’t heed this request but at least Bernhard volunteered a fine of RM50 for his misdemeanour. Thanks Bernhard.
The 15 LC’s and one guest enjoyed fine weather at Tasik Puteri which was in good condition if a little soft underfoot in places. With few other golfers on course at the start of the round it was good progress for most but flight 2 off Tee 10 returned almost an hour after flight 1 for some inexplicable reason. Come on guys; we need to speed up our play. The golden rule here is ALWAYS be ready to play when your turn comes.
The winner was Andre Holm with 38 points from Bernhard Romahn with 37 points. The lowest gross was Bernhard with 90 and the most golf was played by Alan with 127.
Andre is cut 4 and Bernhard 1.
The full results together with your handicap adjustments can be viewed in the attachment.
M&M was taken at the EQUATORIAL and very good it was too.
The venue for next weeks game will be announced later.
May I take this opportunity to pass on seasonal greetings.
To my liberal friends and those of a politically correct leaningPlease accept with no obligation, implied or explicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the summer/winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2012 , but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped form their great nations. Not to imply that these countries are necessarily greater than any other country in the world. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, colour, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.

To the rest of you
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Results – Perangsang Templer – 6th December 2011

Cannons all,

Just after noon on Monday Perangsang called me to say they had “a small tournament” in the morning and our tee time was now 08:40. After protesting, pointing out that we were given a “confirmed” tee time of 08:00 they told me that this was a “last minute arrangement” and there was nothing they could do about it. No apology. As it was then too late to make other arrangements I had to go along with it. Guess what? They lied. There were in fact TWO competitions; both arranged well in advance judging by the banners and other paraphenalia. We finally got started at 09:20 by which time I wished I had stayed in bed. What a bunch of arseholes.
The course was very wet after recent heavy rain and consequently the fairways hadn’t been cut in days and were very long which led to many plugged balls and much time taken up searching for lost balls. The greens were OK but very slow. Glen retired hurt after a few holes and 2 others quit having other commitments.
The winner with 39 points was Andrew Robinson and the runner up OCB was Ian Geekie. The lowest gross was 90 by Andrew and the most golf was played by Ray Funnell & Vincent Vijayan with 109. Andrew is cut 4 and Ian is cut1.
Due to the delay only a small group took M&M at the Annex when I picked up the tab to celebrate my birthday. The surplus will go into the kitty and some of it will go to the Lunch on the 15th.
Regarding the XMAS LUNCH please CONFIRM your attendance ASAP.

Results – Nilai Springs – 29th November 2011

Cannons all,
The day didn’t start well with my alarm going off at 7am instead of the intended 6am and it didn’t improve much as I hooked my first drive OB kind of setting the trend for most of the next 17 holes. But if my problems were bad they paled into insignificance compared to Andre who spent most of the morning touring south Selangor visiting places like Kajang, Putrajaya, Staffield and Nilai old town en route to joining us at the 9th. And to make matters worse he paid for his round TWICE. Andre. You owe Erol RM100.

NS was in good condition and with buggy on fairways for the most part the 12 LC’s were all round in good time. The winner of the Monthly Medal was Bernhard Romahn with 38 points off the stick and 4 bonus points giving him a total of 42 points. The runner-up was Tony Morris with 37 & 4 for 41. The best gross was shot by Ted Parslow with 83 and the most golf was played by Alan Holegate. Bernhard is cut 4 and Tony 1. The full results and your adjusted H/C’s can be found in tha attachment.

A word on Handicapping. Simon claimed that his H/C, advised as 19, should have been 20 since he played off 19 last week. In my haste to get to the first tee I had left the Data Sheet in my locker so couldn’t dispute this. Simon, you were capped at 20; your USGA H/C being 17.
Tony protested that he should not have come second since Ray Funnell also had 37 off the stick and 27 on the back 9. Unfortunately Tony, the monthly medal game uses the “Bonus Points” to calculate the positions and on that basis you were second and you are indeed cut 1.

A LOOSE CANNONS Milestone. Last week Andrew Robinson became the first Loose Cannon to reach 250 games which I’m sure you will agree is a significant achievement. In recognition of this a small ‘one off” award is being arranged and will be presented to Andrew later this month.

Watch this space for next weeks game.
