Loose Cannons- A Snapshot of 2013

I meant to prepare this annual slideshow review at the end of last year and only just remembered now. Anyway let’s see how much you remember of the wonderful year of 2013 and the many games that Loose Cannons golf group enjoyed at the numerous golf courses in and around Kuala Lumpur.
Here is the 2013 snapshot video review. ….. enjoy!

Results – Bukit Kemuning – 7th January 2014

Report

Bukit Kemuning was drier than expected, only a few soft patches, and played well.  The greens were in good condition and were even paced. Pleasant weather conditions which warmed up later, resulted in a good morning’s golf.

First week of using USGA H/Caps, so no cuts for the winners. It will be interesting to see how the new system evolves.

The winner was Jason Winter with an excellent 76 for 39 points. He just beat his work comrade Ted Parslow who scored 81 for 38 points.

The excellent lunch arranged by Barry was somewhat extended as simple directions to get to the restaurant,1 km away from the club, seemed to cause rather a lot of difficulties…. Eventually we only finished up 2 members short….!! There has however been some negative feedback on the lunch arrangements particularly with the food being served a long time before all members had arrived resulting an latecomers getting some meagre leftovers (at a hefty price as well!)

Results – Perangsang Templer – 30th December 2013

Report

The Trophy game was played at Perangsang GC. with 6 full flights.  We welcomed several visitors, highlight being two fathers and sons. Average age was certainly much lower this week…!!

Again we were lucky with the weather. The course was a little wet after the previous evening’s storm but was in good  condition. A few of the greens had been sanded but overall the course played very well.

The winner, even after complaining about jet lag, was Allan McNicoll with 96 for 41 points. Well done. Second again… was Ted Parslow with lowest gross of 83 for 40 points.

Results – Bukit Unggul – 23rd December 2013

Report

We were lucky with the weather again, and the course had dried out and buggies were on course. BU  as as picturesque as ever, but as always falls short in other areas…. Ted and Geoff had the opportunity of talking to May Wong during the lunch….!!
“Falls short in other areas” is polite and does not explain fully the course conditions at Bukit Unggul ….. The course was in appalling condition with large swathes of uncut rough impinging on the fairway, large gouged holes and washouts on the fairways, and the greens as usual were abysmal – bumpy, covered in sand and all the edges rough and sandy. This course is sadly in a large downward spiral with a lack of funds being available for routine standard maintenance – this will have a significant effect of putting off golfers playing there and hence further reducing revenue. Unless a cash injection is made this course will sadly only become worse.
Tony had arranged the lunch, which was good and washed down by wine, kindly donated by Erol, apparently John L had been very generous on wine deliveries , during his stay with Erol…! The club also bought two jugs and a bottle of wine. A good time was had by all. The winner was Tony Morris with 88 for 39 points, cut 4. In second place was Graham Cadman, finally returning to the “rostrum” with 98 for 38 points, cut 1.

Thank you.
