AMVERTON COVE REPORT-08-11-2022

Cannon’s

It’s always nice playing Amverton, feeling the fresh air, and enjoying the nature around us. The course was in reasonable conditions to play, even wet, especially on the first nine, and a lot of the machine tracks on the fairways with sandy greens, making some reading quite difficult to see the lines, but overall playable and we all enjoyed the experience and company. Three full flights with three new guests, Mike Ravlich, Marvin Gan, and Montano Yee, and all got an LC sleeve of balls as a welcome gift. Thanks to David Cheung, Reinili Tan (Well comeback), and Ricardo Castro for introducing Loose Cannons to the new potential members, and we are looking forward to seeing them many times. The winner today was Ricardo Castro with an excellent 77 for 39 points, in the second two players with the same points, Roland Steiner and our guest Montano Yee with 34 points, followed in third place by Josef Winter and Bernhard Romahn booth with 32 points. For the November competition, Josef Winter still leading now with 70 points, second, Iain Wise and Bernhard booth with 68, and in third place, Roland with 67 points, so a lot to fight for in the final two games of the month. Sadly next week no game due to the lack of volunteers to organize the third game. Thank you all and see you guys in 2 weeks’ time. Stay safe.

Cheers

Ricardo

BANGI REPORT-01-11-2022

Cannon’s,

We back to Bangi and played Kajang and Putrajaya nines as Bangi nine is still not ready, maybe next year. Three full flights starting on Kajang nine, the course was in reasonable conditions with playable fairways and tricky greens, but overall a pleasure to play again Bangi and you can see the improvement on the course in terms of landscape and the new robot delivering the food. The winner today was Josef Winter with 86 for 38 points, beating OCB Iain Wise with 93 for 38 points, followed in third place by Bernhard Romahn with 87 for 36 points. Tony Morris after a few holes was not feeling well and decided to stop playing and we wish him a fast recovery. Ricardo Castro got his prize celebrating his winning in the October competition and also a sleeve of balls as a birthday gift. After the game, only four of us (quite sad) had a good lunch at East of Highway and Ricardo Castro contributed with 285.00Rm covering the full bill. Next week’s game will be at Amverton Cove.

Cheers

IMPIAN REPORT-25-10-2022

Cannon’s

The last game of October was held at Saujana Impian with eight brave players who make the long trip to Impian. Normally the starting is always very busy but surprisingly was very quiet with only two flights in front of us on hole # 10. The first nine was sunny and hot but quickly changed to quite overcast with some dark clouds but no rain all morning. The course was ok, playable with difficult greens and tricky pin positions which cost extra puts expressed on the final scores without exceptions. The winner today was Iain Wise with an acceptable 100 for 31 points beating Mike Williams on OCB (88/31) followed in third by Bernhard Romahn with 93 for 30 points. OC Tan became a full LC member playing his 5th game. For the monthly competition, Josef couldn’t handle the pressure and Ricardo Castro took the first prize, so with these results, the LCOTY competition saw Ricardo Castro with another 20 points increasing his distance to second place Helmut Dicknoether with 52, and in third is now Iain Wise with 51 points, so 6 players are in contention to fight for the podium. Only four of us had a good lunch at East of Highway restaurant, hope more can join us in the future. Next week, we will be playing the very far Bangi, stay safe.

Cheers

Ricardo

A’FAMOSA REPORT-18-10-2022

Cannon’s,

Finally, we decided to play Famosa, and seven of us were happy to make the trip and play a different course, and we should do that at least twice a year. Unfortunately, our LC father Mike Smith couldn’t make the short trip and play with us and we are looking forward to playing with him in December on our away game back to Melaka. We played Palm and Rocky nines, so no crocodiles, and we were all safe. Fairways were in good shape with nice and slow greens, with overcast weather. The winner today was Roland Steiner with a reasonable 93 for 37 points, second was David Cheung with 89 for 36 points and in third place was Josef Winter with 93 for 32 points. With these results for the October competition, Roland and Ricardo are now on the top with 75 points followed closely by Josef Winter with 72 points. After the game, we had lunch at a nearby Chinese restaurant arranged by Mike Smith…thanks, Mike. The food was cheap with cool and nice beers. The next game will be at Impian.

Cheers

SERI SELANGOR REPORT-11-10-2022

Cannon’s

We had a quite busy early morning with a big group tournament going on, starting with a shotgun and our 3 flights were split into two holes, flights one and two started on hole 13 and flight 3 (4 balls) started on hole 16. Overall organization from the club and starter was not bad mixing the normal flights with the tournament flights which worked quite good, only the problem was in front of flight 1 we had a Jumbo flight with 5 players, which is crazy and understandable due to the busy booking. Anyway, we complained and one of the par three let us go thru and we were able to finish our round in 4 hours but flight two finished close to 5 hours. The course conditions were good but the greens were very fast and some difficult pins positions reflected on the scores with seven of us scoring more than 100. The winner today was Ricardo Castro with his best score ever 76 for 41 points, sharing second place, with three players, Bernhard Romahn, Bent Serritslev, and WL Chia all with 33 points, and in third place two players Roland Steiner and Oc Tan with 28 points. Oc Tan completes his fourth game and one more will be a full member, congrats to Tan. With these results, October competition standings show Ricardo Castro in first place with 75 points, second, Roland Steiner with 66, and in third place WL Chia with 65, so all are open for the last two games. Next week we are playing A Famosa. Stay safe and see you all at Famosa.

Cheers

STAFFIELD REPORT-04-10-2022

Cannon’s,

The first game of October was held at Staffield and we play Western and Northern nines. Fairways were in good shape with fast greens and sloppy pins positions. We had 1 caddie per flight and they were very good. Our overseas guest Lukas played his 3rd game and he will be back in November to become a full member. We also had two birthdays to celebrate, Iain Wise and WL Chia who contributed 150.00Rm and 180.00Rm respectively for our lunch and drinks and we all wish them the best and many returns. Today the winner was Josef Winter with an excellent 86 for 40 points, followed in second by another German Roland Steiner with a nice 93 for 38 points and in third place two players, Ricardo Castro (Lowest gross) and Mike Williams with 82 and 85 for 34 points. We all agreed to play for our 3rd game the very very far Famosa course (a different galaxy from Staffield) :-))))).. as I heard the conditions now are very good and also we have good Chinese restaurants options near the club, so let us try a different course from our usual menu. Next week (11-10-22) we will be playing Seri Selangor at KL galaxy, so no excuses. Stay safe.

PS: Happy birthday also to Paul Geddes.

Cheers

TEMPLER PARK REPORT-27-09-2022

Cannon’s,

Always a pleasure playing at Templer Park and getting involved with the majestic landscape around the 18th holes. The course is always in a good shape with changeling greens and difficult pin positions, making many of us increase our number of puts, but overall a great course to play many times. We welcomed a new guest, Diederik Brinkman, introduced by Roland Steiner, and he got an LC sleeve of balls as a gift for his first game with us and we are looking forward to seeing him again very soon. Oc Tan also played his 3rd game and just needs 2 more games to become a full member. The winner today was Ricardo Castro with an excellent 79 for 38 points, followed by Helmut Dicknoether with 93 for 36 points, and in 3rd place was David Cheung with 91 for 35 points. With this final monthly game results, Ricardo Castro and Bernhard Romahn finished in first place with 74 points, and Bernhard became the September winner because from the best 2 games between the 2 players, because he had the highest score on of the his best games of 42 points, so congratulations to Bernhard, and well done. For the LC player of the year competition, Ricardo Cemented, even more, his first position, now with 132 points, followed now by Helmut with 52 points who relegated Bipan and Iain to the third position booth with 48 points. Next week let’s welcome October games at Staffield and stay safe.

Cheers

BUKIT UNGGUL REPORT-20-09-2022

Cannon’s

It was a pleasure to play again on this special course surrounded by jungle with overcast and humid weather all morning. First nine we played wet fairways with nice greens, the second nine was much dryer with a few sandy greens, but overall good conditions for a good game of golf reflected on the results with only one player scoring below thirty points. The winner today was Bernhard Romahn with an excellent 81 for 42 points, followed in second by the local member Mike Williams scoring the lowest gross 78 for 40 points, and in third place the return of the Jedi, Paul Geddes with 82 for 37 points. With these results, the monthly competition Bernhard is now leading the pack with 74 points, second W Chia with 73, and third David Cheung with 72, so all open for next week at Templer Park. We welcomed Michael Fenner-Smith for his first game with us, receiving a sleeve of LC balls, and hope we can see him more times playing with us and becoming a full member. David Cheung got his voucher to commemorate his August victory. Thanks to Mike Williams for helping me with the registration ladies, and helping to get good rates and caddies. See you all next week and remember stay safe.

OBITUARY HAKAN KULP-SEPTEMBER 2022

Cannon’s

Hakan Kulp sadly passed away last week after a long struggle battle with cancer and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

From the Loose Cannons records, Hakan joined our Society on January 14th, 2020, and played seven games with us, all at his favorite course Tasik Puteri winning one with a fantastic score of 43 points (above picture showing very proud his prize). He was due to play more games but it was difficult for him to play more times because of medical reasons.

He also played twice for Klog’s Society as a guest of Jimmy Leggatt, his close friend, and became a full member, but unfortunately for the same reasons, he was not able to play more times.

A very likable and true gentleman guy who will be sadly missed. Our deepest condolences to Hakan’s family.

Rest in Peace Hakan

TASIK PUTERI REPORT-13-09-2022

Cannon’s

It was nice playing again Tasik Puteri even in the last two years we have been seeing the course conditions getting worse due to the lack of maintenance and the increasing night activity with the wild boar. Today the course was ok kind of hard fairways with some of them almost no grass and easy to top the ball, with good greens, slow on the first nine, and a little faster on the back nine. The winner today was the club master member, I’m sure with some inside tips with an excellent 87 for 43 points, followed by Ricardo Castro (lowest gross of the day) with 81 for 36 and another club member (here it looks like the inside tips didn’t work well) :-)))) with 91 for 36 points. After the game nine of us, we had a good lunch at the club. Next week we will be playing the infamous Bkt Unggul.

Cheers
