Results – Tasik Puteri Golf Club – 22nd February, 2011

We had a great day in TP. The greens on the first 9 were very good although a little slow, but they were true. The second 9 were poor as they had sanded them all and it was so difficult to get the ball rolling to the hole.

Raymond Keys took the trophy with an excellent 46 points even though he only managed to hit three fairways! Barry was second with 42.

Best gross, John, 84.

After the green fees and F& B were paid we have RM70 in the kitty for next week.

Thanks to David Hughes who stood in as Convenor as Mike Smith was away getting his eye replaced. He will get his 2nd eye done next week and hopefully should be back soon with his new “eagle vision”. Speedy recovery Mike!

Results – Tasik Puteri Golf Club – 11th January 2011

15 players said they would play but only 13 actually made it to Tasik Puteri on a damp and overcast morning that threatened rain but mercifully stayed dry. With cool conditions and a course in very good order; especially the greens that were both fast and true,Β scoring should have been lower than recorded but…… Andrew Robinson, back from the snow fields of England, ran out the winner OCB with 37 points from R/U Tony Morris. Lowest gross was 88 by Hans Berger (clearly the cut of 10 last week only brought out the best in him!) and the most golf was played by Barry Cousins with a score that won’t be recorded here. Lets just say it was a score Australia would have been proud of recently.
M&M was enjoyed by 10 of the 13 plus Raymond Keys who declined the golf, but knows where a tasty meal can be had! The makan was good as we have come to expect at the Equatorial without being outstanding but the camaraderie was excellent.

Results – Tasik Puteri Golf Club – 30th November 2010

There was an excellent turnout of 19 Cannons for thisΒ months Trophy Game at Tasik Puteri. Unfortunately there was a small competition of 10 flights running parallel to our 5 flights, and this in spite of being assured over the phone the week before that there was no competition that day!Β  For the first flight out it was plain sailing but the last 2 flights were badly held up. Eventually we all finished.Β  The weather was sublime and the course in pretty good nick.

Winner with a gross 83 for 36 points, + 3 bonus points was John Laidley, cut 4.Β  Runner-up with a gross 92 for 34 points, + 4 bonus points was Bernhard Romahn, cut 1. John had the lowest gross and Vincent played the most shots with 114. Full details:

Lunch was taken at the Equatorial Restaurant, and very good it was too. The early arrivals had to wait over an hour for the final Cannons to arrive just before 14.00 hrs!Β  We were joined by Mike Smith who brought along the Trophy to present to John – it turned out to be the December Trophy……

Finances for the day:
Income: B/FD 20, Collection 1900, Second collection at Equatorial 330 – Total 2250

Next week is the Trophy Game for the month and we will return to TASIK PUTERI for the final time this year. Results – Tasik Puteri – 19th October 2010

There was a good turnout for Tasik Puteri this week with 15 starters. Check-in was a slow affair with the computer down and the Doris on duty not being the sharpest pencil in the box…….!

Lunch was taken at the Equatorial Restaurant where we celebrated Alan Holgate’s birthday – only 25 more years to go for a telegram from the Queen…..! Β Alan generously donated RM100 to the kitty and a bottle of Oban Single Malt Whisky which was soon polished off – once the cork had been extracted!Β  Reinli kindly donated a bottle of Chivas adn several bottles of wine were in evidence alongside the beer, juices and so on.Β  Mike made a short address to Birthday Boy and we all stood and sang Happy Birthday, with certain Tony Morris embellishments. Β Alan then responded with a very long-winded speech – ‘thankyou!’Β  There was one bottle of wine and half a bottle of Chivas left over and these have been added to the Cannons cellers for future consumption.

Β Β  Β

The were a couple of instances of late arrivals to mention. Β  Richard overslept and arrived an hour late at the course so missed the first couple of holes.Β  And Mohamed circumnavigated Rawang Town a few times on his way to the Equatorial…..Β  And Mike and Dick, who joined us for lunch, had apparently been shuttling backwards and forwards through tunnels on the way to the Equatorial?Β  They really should all instal Garfields?

The PINK LADY CHAMPIONSHIPΒ on Friday 29 October has attractedΒ 9 Cannons who have now all paid Reinli. On the day those over 55 will play off the white tees and Tom will play off the back tees!
The XMAS LUNCH is slated for Friday 10 December at the Coliseum and Mike/Andrew will progress matters accordingly.
