Results – Impian Golf & Country Club – 3rd July 2018

Sixteen Loose Cannons had signed-up for the game at this very nice course, they all made it in time except for myself as I was hit ~ 20 degree from behind while cruising at a comfortable speed on the triple lane highway. Time for my oldie to visit the body-shop again.
Weather was nice, the course played a bit difficult today as the green were sanded. As many times before the slow walking playing members added to the time consumed, but in general takes more time to play.
Nine assembled at the Crab House for the post game lunch, the food is good but the surroundings is like a mini war-zone area.

Congratulation to the English and Swedish football teams to their victory and I look forward to see them play each other in the 1/4 final in Samara on Saturday.

Results – Kota Seriemas Golf & Country Club – 26 June 2018

Kaz at the hole 11 tee boxKota Seriemas were in pretty good nick compare to when we played it last time Feb 26, although some greens still had the hollow tining not completely recovered from. We were the only players at that early hours and the weather were cloudy at first with a little bit of wind until the sun came through, quite nice actually.

No one run away with a high number of points so at the top three it were pretty tight.

IMG_9890

We had 3 full flights this morning at Amverton Cove and we started promptly at just before 8:00am. The course was in pretty good shape and the weather pleasantly cool. We made good time round the course then retired to the usual restaurant just over the bridge after the game for some much needed refreshments. Food was passable but surprised a Chinese restaurant had run out of chilli!!!

The winner this week was Kaz Takita with a score of 91 for 38 points. Runner up was Geoff McLaws with a 77 (best gross of the day) for 36 points. Full results below:

For many of us this was the first time to play The Mines and what a great experience it was.Registration was smooth and uneventful and the same should have been said about our 2 Tee Box Start had not a number of our players ignored your Temporary Convenors clear written instructions and in their excitement to start stormed off to Tee Box 1 rather than Tee Box 10.Having finally decided they needed to storm back to Tee Box 10 they risked falling behind a pretty large contingent of LEGGS Lady Players. But Robinson was having none of this and led his foursome straight onto the Teebox and fired away before the Ladies could raise a word of complaint. This probably raises serious doubts whether the Annual Competition v LEGGS will take place this year !!!!
The course was in great condition. For a change we had truly professional well trained Caddies and we all finished right around the 4 hour mark.So for a change not a word of complaint from anybody !!!!!
This was also a day of surprises as far as the finishing spots were concerned.Usual prematch favourites Collett,Morris,Geddes and Castro athough playing pretty much to handicap were unable to match the form of 3 of our outsiders who upset the form book and came in as follows

The kitty was amply funded with Birthday Contributions from Martin,Stan and also from Peter to mark his record breaking day.
Amid obvious signs of discontent from the Membership over the Organizational Screw Up on Tee Boxes 1 and 10 it became clear over lunch that Temporary Convenor Wiggins position was no longer tenable. Our Cultural Attache Kaz Takita suggested that the only honourable way out was a Ritual Disemboweling and Beheading but this was voted down by the narrowest of Margins of 8 to 7 and TC Wiggins was allowed to resign with immediate effect but with the stipulation that he would never run for office again
With that Tony Morris was immediately voted in as new temporary Convenor and his first acts were to order lashings of more beer and rebook The MINES for next week

Results – Sungai Long – 30th May 2018

img_0864Today we had the pleasure of playing Sungai Long and boy what a joy it was.The course was absolutely immaculate. From Tee to Green everything was in perfect condition and we couldnt have asked for more. With Berger and Wiggins forming the perfect starting partnership Registration was a breeze and 16 eager golfers were chomping at the bit for a fast start @ 7.50 and a timely finish at 11.45 – 12.30
Even our Resident Greyhound Tony was in  very laid back mood today and played at what for him was a very leisurely pace.Although it should be noted his playing partners kept him very busy driving the buggy, keeping the scorecard, looking for numerous lost balls (Paul) and raking bunkers

Results

Our 3 players in the winning circle all played above handicap so congratulations to
Stan 89/39
Niall 77/38
Andrew 100/37
Screen Shot 2018-05-31 at 6.57.20 AM
Correction : Niall Murray’s gross should be 77 NOT 78 in above table.
Additional Congratulations of course also go out to Stan for winning the Coveted Monthly Medal, which  comes with a Prestigious Trophy and so much prize money it cant be mentioned (Rory eat your heart out !!!!!) and (Fat Lady keeps your hands off !!!!)
Your temporary Convenor for the Day Wiggins (I cant do this much longer for obvious health reasons) felt he had got away with a pretty stress free day as Tony being the self sacrificing person that he is took it upon himself to organize the F&B to perfection for 8 of us (or was it 9 ???) which surprise surprise came to 50 RM a head
I didn’t think there was really anything else to report but in the best interests of the societyI think I need to point out to the membership in no uncertain terms that we have a totallyno go policy as far as DRUGS are concerned. I am sad to report that our 3rd place finisher today after a few beers at lunch mentioned that on Monday afternoons he is in the habit of taking a certain performance enhancing drug for recreational reasons and then goes on to point out that said drug is known to positively affect performance even into the following day. An immediate check of his scores did in fact demonstrate that whilst his Friday scores are totally crap, his Tuesday scores do show a marked improvement. Andrew enough is enough. This cant go on.You have to change your play date day.Weekends are probably tough so I strongly suggest you change to Wednesdays !!!!!
Finally we all wish Hans a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him leading the charge again asap
Your temporary convenor Wiggins….. who cant keep doing this too much longer !!!

Results – Templer Park – 22 May 2018

Todays convenor with Martin, Bernard and Tony16 LCs teed off from Templer Park CC’s 1st and 10th tee at 8:30 under bright morning light.

The course was in its usual fine shape with rather fast green for front nine and bit slower green in the back nine.

We were not affected by rain the whole game but it was rather muggy with no wind which affected many players with their concentration (as they claim).  It might have been one of the factor for only 3 players scoring below 100 today.

Results

Winner was Geoff McLaws with 81 for 32 points. Runner up was a three-way tie between Bernard Romahn, Brian Stubbs and Kevin Wiggins all with 28 points. Best gross was Geoff with 81. Full results below:

Results – Seri Selangor Golf Club – 15th May 2018

IMG_9311

With many players away on the KLOGS tour to Vietnam there were only 11 players today for our game at Seri Selangor Golf Club with Kevin Wiggins acting as Convenor as Hans was on the KLOGS trip. We started early and were off before 7:30am. The course was in good condition and as tricky as it always is. Weather was overcast making it relatively cool all the way round.

We noticed some course improvements with a new deep pot bunker placed at the right side of the green on Hole No 11, which was duly checked out by Paul Collett!

IMG_9301

We were finished just after 12 noon and 7 of us made lunch at Pantai Seafood for some great food and the most welcome cold beers. And just for Hans’ attention we had a lovely large plate of huge prawns ……..

Results – Tasik Puteri – 8th May 2018

IMG_9182

We had 21 players today for our game at Tasik Puteri – a rather odd number so we ended up having 4 flights of 4 and a jumbo 5-ball flight at the rear. We all had to start on the Tasik course as there was a competition on the other two nines and then we crossed over to the Puteri course. The weather was perfect with blue skies and even a light cooling breeze making it a pleasant round. The course was in good condition but the greens on the Tasik nine were markedly faster than the greens on the Puteri course.

We finished by 12:30 and then departed for lunch at the Chin Heong Restaurant close to Rawang. Andrew Robinson and Siegmund Maierbrugger who were celebrating birthdays kindly added some cash to the coffers to help out for lunch. Happy Birthday boys!!

Results

With 2 players on a best score of 39 points we had to do a countback with Stuart Taylor and Siegmund Maierbrugger both on 39 points. They had identical back 9’s of 20 points so we had to look at the last 6 holes at which point Stuart was the winner this week. Best gross of the day was Geoff McLaws with a 79. Results – KGSAAS – 2 May 2018

IMG_9027

Our first game of May was held at KGSAAS in Shah Alam with 6 full flights teeing off on the President and Sultan courses at 7:30am. It was a beautiful morning and the course was in fairly good condition. The greens on the Sultan 9 had been sanded but were still running very well.

After the game we had lunch on the terrace and with a kindly contribution from Joe Lacy (late Birthday celebration) the cost was very good.
