With everyone arriving on time (it’s amazing what the threat of a fine will achieve) 18 LC’s teed it up on the Puteri & Tasik 9’s at 7:45 and with no one ahead of us and excellent cool weather we were mostly all round in under 4 hours. The course was in good condition; particularly the Tasik 9 where the large greens were very nice.
Despite grumbling about the Tasik 9 (which he say’s he hates) the winner was Ray Funnell with 101 for 41 points (23 points on the Tasik 9!!!). Ray you are cut 5 strokes. Runner-up OCB was Tony Morris with 90 for 41 ahead of Ricardo Castro and Kevin Wiggins who both recorded 39 points. The lowest gross was 80 by Geoff McLaws.

Lunch was at the ever reliable Chin Hiong with 16 of us enjoying good grub and plenty of amber nectar. Ray couldn’t make lunch (which was just as well as he would have got a lot of stick) so his RM50 went into the pot. Thanks Ray.

It was a beautiful morning today as 6 full flights tee’d off on the Putera and Tasik nines at Tasik Puteri. The Putera nine was probably in the worst shape we have seen it for a long time … the greens were bad and very slow. The Tasik nine however was good although again some of the greens were suffering a bit. The weather was great and we had no hold ups round the course so we were all finished and then took lunch at the usual Chin Heong Restaurant close to the highway exit ….. well apart from Roger McGowan who had some navigational issues …. thank God he is still not flying!

Looking back at the last time we played Danau Golf Club … it was February 2016 … and it was duly noted at that time how tough this course was … how tough the rough was … and how this caused slow play due to players looking for multiple lost balls. It was the same story when we played Danau today. We had 5 flights, all off one 9 to start, unfortunately and it took us 5 hours to complete the round …. with no one in front of our group … so no excuses … it was slow play by our groups. Something we should consider and try to get better at …. even in tough conditions such as Danau.
