Results – Bukit Kemuning – 12th May 2015

Report

Only 14 players teed off on time from 2 tee boxes on a sunny, hot and very humid day. The humidity was certainly cleared on the way back with exceptionally heavy rain , all the way back to KL.. !!

The course was in generally good condition, with the greens being fast but a little bumpy.

9 players eventually made it to the restaurant, after one of the leading cars lost two of the following vehicles….. and an enjoyable lunch was had by all. Andrew kindly bought the beers to celebrate his belated birthday.

The winner was Brian Stubbs with 98 for 36 points. In second place was Robert Mulliss with 103 for 35 points. Lowest gross was Geoff Mclaws with a 83. Well done to all. Surprisingly 8 out of the 14 starters were within 2 stableford points. Full results below:

Results – Bukit Kemuning – 7th January 2014

Report

Bukit Kemuning was drier than expected, only a few soft patches, and played well.  The greens were in good condition and were even paced. Pleasant weather conditions which warmed up later, resulted in a good morning’s golf.

First week of using USGA H/Caps, so no cuts for the winners. It will be interesting to see how the new system evolves.

The winner was Jason Winter with an excellent 76 for 39 points. He just beat his work comrade Ted Parslow who scored 81 for 38 points.

The excellent lunch arranged by Barry was somewhat extended as simple directions to get to the restaurant,1 km away from the club, seemed to cause rather a lot of difficulties…. Eventually we only finished up 2 members short….!! There has however been some negative feedback on the lunch arrangements particularly with the food being served a long time before all members had arrived resulting an latecomers getting some meagre leftovers (at a hefty price as well!)

Results -Bukit Kemuning – 3rd September 2013

Results

The course was in good condition, but after the previous day’s storm the greens were a little slow. Only 3 Flights teed off on time in pleasant conditions.

The winner, for his second win, was Allan McNicoll with 99 for 39 points, beating the lowest gross of 83 by Ted Parslow, 37 points. Cut 4 and 1 respectively. Full results attached.

The excellent wine prize as kindly donated by Erol was won by Ted Parslow with a total of 110 points. Stuart and Graham finished up with 102. Well done Ted and enjoy the wine. Interestingly, when hopefully we will have a similiar competition Allan with his good round today, finished in 4th place only 2 shots behind the runners up. Shows how placings can easily change.

Results – Bukit Kemuning Golf & Country Club – 14th November 2012

Report

Cannons all.

A couple of weeks of exceptionally heavy rain in the Klang Valley left Bukit Kemuning very wet and barely playable. To make matters worse the Wednesday game was sandwiched between 2 public holidays (we don’t play on PH’s) which meant that a lot of KL folk had taken the week off and, with nearby Kota Permai reportedly closed because of the wet conditions, Bukit Kemuning was packed with 40 flights and progress was horribly slow.
The greens however were in surprisingly good and firm condition but the fairways were very wet and soft and the rough under water in many places leading to a lot of plugged and lost balls and some horrendous scores. But looking on the bright side, we got to play golf albeit in very hot and humid conditions and as usual, enjoyed ourselves. But the 5 hour plus round left some of us exhausted. It was too much for Barry who pulled up lame after 9.

The winner was Stuart Taylor with a remarkable 40 points and the runner-up was Geoff McLaws with 37 points.
The lowest gross was 82 by Geoff McLaws and the most golf was played by Allan McNicoll with 120.
Stuart is cut 4 strokes and Geoff 1 stroke.
Lunch was taken at the club and was attended by everyone except Erol. A lot of amber nectar was drunk and RM20 a head was needed to top up the pot but a good time was had by all. It was with sadness that I took this opportunity to announce my retirement from the duties of convener and Andrew Robinson was duly coerced into the position of Loose Cannons Convener for the foreseeable future. Thank you and good luck Andrew. Hopefully I will be able to make the occasional game but will follow the activities of Loose Cannons with interest.
The Kitty stands at RM1202 and some of this will subsidise the Christmas Lunch at the Coliseum. Andrew will brief you on this.
My thanks to the Loose Cannons for their support over the past 9 years. I wish you all well. Our official 10th anniversary will be celebrated on or near the 6th January 2014.

Results for Bukit Kemuning Tuesday 10th July 2012

It’s quite a while since we last played Bukit Kemuning and much has been done by way of improvements to the golf course during our absence, The new buggy track is now complete and many new trees have been planted. They have improved the drainage and some improvement to the landscaping is evident and the general maintenance of the course is to a high standard.

And now for a bit of a moan. This is a ‘buggy on track’ course and kerbs have been introduced in places to prevent buggies from running onto the course but where there are no kerbs golfers still habitually park the buggy with 2 wheels on the grass, even some of us LC’s. The result is ugly bare patches along the edge of the buggy track which Bukit Kemuning are re-turfing. Please guys, take the lead and keep the buggy on the track at all times.

After the recent rain there were some worries that the course may have been a bit wet but these proved to be unfounded and the course was in excellent condition with plenty of run on the fairways and deceptively quick greens. The bunkers were all in good order and although there were quite a number of other players on the course we were all round in just over 4 hours. The weather too was kind with a freshening breeze developing over the closing holes.

We had a good turnout of 16 players today which included a guest introduced by Geoff McLaws.

The winner was Geoff McLaws with 43 points and the runner-up was Geoff Parslow with 42 points. The lowest gross was shared by the 2 Geoff’s with 76 and the most golf was played by Alan Holgate with 113.
Geoff McLaws is cut 7 strokes and Geoff Parslow 1 stroke.
Ray Funnell returned a score of 43 points but was penalised 2 strokes for improving his lie.

Lunch was taken at the nearby Restoran O & S Seafood, arranged by Barry Cousins and excellent it was too, and very fairly priced at RM643 for a lot of food and 13 large bottles of the amber nectar.

Results – Bukit Kemuning Golf & Country Resort – 3rd January 2012

Cannons all,
16 players turned up at Bukit Kemuning on a fine morning. The course was in reasonable condition but the fairways hadn’t seen a mower in several days and the rough was also very long and thick leading to much searching for stray balls. In mitigation I suppose the recent very wet weather has restricted access for the grass cutting machinery.
The winner was Barry Cousins with 42 points and the Runner-up was Andrew Robinson with 39 points OCB. The lowest gross was by Andrew with 88 and the most golf was played by Alan with 114. Barry is cut 6 strokes and Andrew 1 stroke. The full scores and your adjusted handicaps can be found in the attachment.

This was Barry Cousin’s 70th birthday and he generously hosted lunch at a nearby Seafood Restoran which was excellent. Barry had also laid on Beer, Wine & Whisky to help celebrate the occasion which I understand moved on to another location for some, and continued well into the evening. As one survivor put it “dog box for me the next the morning”.
Thank you Barry.
