RESULTS AMVERTON COVE-06-04-2021

Dear All,

Amverton Cove always is a nice, well-maintained course to play. Enough challenges around with a lot of water in play, and at the same time good opportunities to score. But… as well a lot of places where you can lose your balls! The weather was great and the course relatively quiet when we started. We teed off nice and well, with one three-ball and two full flights. Some last-minute cancellations whatever the reason for this. The last two flights took a bit of time to get to the restaurant, but it was worthwhile waiting. The restaurant was again a good choice. Isuka may be a bit more expensive, the quality of the food is certainly better than the restaurant where we used to go.
The scores of today were again very good with 5 of us played their handicap or better. We welcomed two new guests, Simon and Michael. Welcome to the club!
The highest Stableford was scored by Simon, one of our guests, and the winner of the day was Ricardo with 40 points, with a gross score of 79, just 7 over the par of the course! Well done! The mystery prize of a sleeve of balls today went to John, as having the highest gross score on the first nine.

See you all back next week, at Glenmarie.

RESULTS BKT KEMUNING-30-3-2021

Thanks Jan for the report and Ricardo for the photos.

Dear All,

The course was in a good condition, certainly when taking into account the rain of the previous day. The greens a bit changing, form fast to less fast to slow, some damage in the fairways, but on the whole, a good course to play. The weather started nice, but you could feel the heat approaching. The last holes were therefore for some of us a struggle to get through.
Lunch was in a new restaurant, and, combined with three of us ordering, it gave us a new variety of food! In the right combination with some beers, it was a good experience.
And then the scores…….. We know that you have to score well to have a chance to win here, but today you needed a real monster score. Ricardo had the lowest gross score of 83. Six players played their handicap or better. The fourth-place of Iain with 39, two-second places of Jan and Robert with 40 points, and the winner was Andrew Morrow with 48 (!!!) points, Well, his lower handicap will reflect this next time. His handicap was based on games last year with the last game played in July. We welcomed a new player, Bipan Kapur, who joined us for his first game in the Loose Cannons. Welcome Bipan, the mystery prize was for you.
Most of the attention went of course to the real golf player in our midst. Tony Morris with 500 games, the fastest player in Malaysia, was honored with a special LC shirt. Tony, congratulations on this real milestone. A very faithful and consistent player, who keeps the speed in the game. Up for the next jubilee! Thanks to his very generous gift, the costs for this copious lunch were kept within nice limits. Many thanks, Tony!
The results of today’s game, the monthly competition of March, and the standings of the 2021 competition are below:

RESULTS BKT BERUNTUNG-23-3-2021

Thanks Martin for the report and Ricardo for the photos.

Gents,
My last day in the office was welcomed by 16 players! On top of that all 16 stayed for lunch as well……….unprecedented. But that’s the LC way; play and lunch. Most of us were early except for Hans Berger who was on the way to Slim River and Reinli who was stuck in his last pint of Guinness. Bukit Beruntung is an interesting and value for money course. The greens are really nice, just very slow. We took off by 8:00 am with flight 4 welcoming the 2 ‘missing in action’ a while later. Despite a little drizzle most of us had an enjoyable round of golf finishing around midday, well in time to make it for lunch in Full Moon restaurant. Today’s winner Siggy came home with a monster score of 85/42 collecting several prices (one last ‘C’ for you Mike W.). He got the RM 50 plus the ‘Golden Nut’ that he donated himself as a prize for the LC’s. We also found out how we can distract Siggy when he is playing well………… The rumors will be spread, just wait! Graham Cadman in second (93/40), long battling with Siggy (same flight) for the 1st place, but then the pressure became too much on the last 2 holes. A sleeve of balls for his battle with der Kaiser. A special thanks to Tony, who came in 3rd (87/39), for helping us to get some discount due to his membership. So a free ride for him today.
We also welcomed back Reinli after a very long break. A sleeve of balls for him too.
2 other players with lowest gross (85); Ricardo and Bernhard. We all can picture Bernhard running around like a headless chicken, finding a ball which is not always his, hits it anyway…….. 2 strokes penalty……. “whas se f**k em ai doing” We got him a ball marker. Will he use it????Thank you all for the nice shirt and plate that you bought me as a goodbye present.
Lunch at Full Moon was excellent as well as the Tigers and very affordable. We finished the day by 14:00 pm.
This day was supported by the kitty money that I had left. There is still around RM 500 balance which I will hand over to the new team. Tony came up with a good suggestion to use this money to support playing a ‘quality’ (more expensive) course sometimes. It was a pleasure serving you. See you on the golf course. Martin

And LC of the Year updated standings: Good advantage for Sigmund to win March and a few players fighting for second and third place:

RESULTS KGSAAS 16-3-2021

Thanks to Jan for the report and Ricardo for the photos.

We had a nice early start, one of the first off on the course, and everyone was present well in time!!The course was good, the first two holes a bit wet after the rain the nght before, but for the rest nice and dry. Only the greens were varaible, sometimes fast and sometimes you really had to give it a whack to get it moving. But it didn’t spoil the fun of playing, and from what I heard, everyone enjoyed themselves again.
We welcomed Hans Berger again. He didn’t play but decided to join us for lunch. Good to see you, Hans!
The other Hans (Bodewes) got his bag tag as being a new member last week, and John received the sleeve of balls and his bag tag as a new member, having played 5 games with us. Welcome John!!
The scores were very variable as well, as you can see below. Ricardo had the lowest gross score with 88. Not as low as he wanted, but….. He also won the mystery prize for the most birdies.Iain ended up as third with 33 points, Josef second with 36, and Jan as first with 38 points.
Lunch was at the club, well sponsored by Siggy, as a result of which cost were kept low. Thanks, Siggy!
All scores are here including the standings for the March competition.

RESULTS TASIK PUTERI 9-3-2021

Thanks Jan for the report and Ricardo for the photos.

Dear all,
The course was in a good condition, the weather was good, and the greens were slow. I think that was the short summary of Tuesday’s game. It’s always pleasant to play at Tasik Puteri, where you really have to score well to get on top. Also this time that was clear from the scoring.
First we have to congratulate Bernhard and Robert for their respective birthdays, and we thank them for their generous contribution for the lunch! We were all very happy to see Hans Berger back on the field. Hans, don’t worry about the golf, that will come back. Keep on practicing with us. Use the small tool you received, save you a lot of bending down.
John played his fourth game, so one to go, and Hans Bodewes played his fifth game, so he was welcomed as a new member of the Loose Cannons. A sleeve of special LC balls as a welcome gift.
The scores were very good as mentioned. To play your handicap and end up as sixth says enough. The winner above all was Dave, who walked off with 42 points!!! Well done Dave, the voucher is yours!
The total list of scores is:

The standing for the March competition is (you have to play at least 2 games in the month to qualify):

See you all next week,

Report Bukit Jalil 2-3 2021

Thanks to Jan for writing the report

First plan was to start with 3 3-balls, but very late Monday evening, Bernhard decided to join, so we started with 10 players. Thanks Bernhard for joining us. The course again was in a good condition, with fast greens on the first nine and a bit slower on the second. The pin positions were on some green very difficult and that took some of us quite some extra putts to get the ball in the hole. The first flight had to wait a very long time until the last flight came in, but after that we had an enjoyable time during lunch. For some of us, preparing lunch took a very long time, but the price/quality is actually quite good there.

We had nevertheless good scores as you can see below. Two players, Josef and Tony, with 36 points and 3 with 37 fighting for the winning place. This was won by Bernhard on count back. Good for you that you decide to join, Bernhard!! The 50 RM voucher is yours.

As this course can also “eat up” balls very easily was true for some of us. Therefore Graham was the winner of the mystery prize for losing most balls. He won a most needed sleeve of balls.

We also could announce the winner of the February competition. Two games only because of the lock down. It was a battle between Ricardo and Jan, but this month Jan was the winner of the month.

We welcomed again John, now for his 3rd game, and Hans for his 4th.

No birthdays to celebrate this time, maybe next week………???

As it was announced yesterday that we can travel between KL and Selangor, we can spread out our wings a bit, and not be restricted to only the courses nearby. I will inform you later in a separate email, where we play next week.

See you all next week,

Jan

Results Bukit Jalil 23-2-2021

Thanks Jan for writing the report and Ricardo for the photo’s. Due to the lockdown there is no monthly competition in February.

We had a great morning golf again. The course was in a good condition. The greens on the first nine were better than the second nine, but overall, it was worth while playing again. It is a good course, challenging and plenty of opportunity to lose balls and still come in with good scores.

The weather was great, a bit warm towards the end. We had two large tables reserved for lunch, and a good lunch, accompanied with some beers tasted very well, although some of us had to wait a while before the lunch was served.

No police checkpoints on the way in, I had two checkpoints going home, but without any problems.

We welcomed Hans for his third game with us. Two to go Hans!!

The scores were respectable. Ricardo was the day winner with 38 points, and Hans the mystery prize winner with the highest gross score !

Last week I forgot to mention that Mike Williams was the January monthly prize winner. He has received his voucher in the mean time. Congratulations , Mike!!

All scores were:

Results The Mines 16 February 2021

Thanks to Ricardo for the photos and Jan for writing the report

Loose Cannons all,

It was a great morning to be able to play again and then at such a wonderful course. With 8 of us, who just managed to stay within the 10 km (or about) to tee off and play at the Mines, a real treat. The condition of the course was great, we could use our buggies (individual !) on most of the fairways, and the greens were of a magnificent quality. Looking forward to coming back again.

The scores were actually very good. It isn’t an easy course, we played off the blue tees, and nobody had a gross score higher than 100. The main prize, a 50 RM MST voucher went to Paul Geddes, who beat his handicap with 2 points. Well done Paul!

The mystery prize, a sleeve of balls, went to Mike Garwood, who beat us all with two birdies. Great work Mike!

All scores and photos are below:

Results – Palm Garden – 12th January 2021

Another “last game before lockdown” 12 members gathered for this event at Palm Garden. Weather conditions were pretty good. Unfortunately due to maintenance the greens were not very good. Let’s use this as an excuse that only 2 players scored their handicap or better. Josef was the clear winner today with 40 points, followed by Ricardo (36) and Dave, Helmut and Mike W all 35 points.Since there won’t be any more games in January we already have a January Winner; Mike Williams.Helmut is now an official member with 5 games. Welcome to the LC’s!

“Last supper” was at East of Highway where we celebrated numerous things. First of all the return and belated birthday (60 years young) of Iain, secondly Tony turning 71 next week. Both a big thanks for your contribution! We handed out the December 2020 medal going to Tony and we wrapped up 2020 Loose Cannon of the year. Despite his long absence Iain still came in as 4th winning the special prize; socks. Tony 3rd and Martin 2nd winning some MST vouchers and Ricardo as LC of the year with a floating trophy and a special golf shirt. Number 10 in the ranking was also eligible for a prize. Josef took that one.As usual the food -ordered by Tony- was very good and accompanied by a few Tigers that went down well.
Take care everybody and hope to see you all after this lockdown again. Let this be the last one……..Stay safe!

Results – Kota Seriemas Golf & Country Club – 5th January 2021

After being washed away last week Kota Seriemas fully recovered and the 12 players had a beautiful day of golf (not the scoring…….). We teed off early under a blue sky and playing a golf course in a very good shape given the time of year where most courses are usually very wet and soggy.

Nobody managed to play his handicap today with Mike Williams as the winner scoring 34 points. Graham came in as number 2 with 31 points surprisingly followed by myself with 30 points after blopping the first 4 holes! We finished around midday, well in time to drive back to East of Highway where 8 members had a very good lunch -ordered by Tony- and number 9 Ricardo had to wait a while before the non spicy stuff arrived.

Mystery price for today went to Erol for a) enjoying himself on the golf course and b) producing the longest roll on the fairway………We also welcomed 2 guests; Helmut and Hans. For Helmut it was his 4th game already so next time he will be declared an official member of the LC’s.

Next week I have booked Palm Garden at 8:00 am. If we manage to get 4 flights we get a nice rate (10% discount). If it’s only 3 flights we have to pay the normal price (RM 255). So Cannons……………get out of your chair!

Next week we will also wrap up the remaining 2020 topics; December winner and LC of the year 2020.See the results below for both December and total year. We have several prizes available of course for the winner but also random…………
