In the end we started with 15 players.. One drop out late Monday afternoon.
Teed off early at 0740 from 2 tee boxes. Putera and the Tasik 9. The weather was good , light cloud and a little breeze. The course was a little wet in places after the deluges of the past 24 hours and buggies were on track. All considered the course was in good condition. Greens were good although the Putera greens had been fertilized and a little slower. 13 players stayed for lunch at the club and a few jugs were consumed.
The winner on the day and with the lowest gross of 78 was Bernie Schobert with 45 points. There was a light hearted discussion regarding his H/ Cap…..! The next 4 players were all within 1 point.

Of course Murphy’s Law dictated that when we got to the Restaurant it was closed for the day so 7 of us trundled off to Pantai Seafood where under Tony ‘s expert guidance a fine lunch was had by all, made even better by Iain’s generous contribution of 200.00 to celebrate his 58th Birthday,CheersIain !!!
Winner on the day was Tony, with Dave, 2nd and Stan and Peter Joint 3rd
We had 3 full flights today at Amverton Cove for an earlier teeoff at 7:30am. The course was in good condition and very quiet so we got off and around the course rather easily, finishing at about 12:00 noon., apart from our 3rd flight who were somewhat later.

We had lunch after the game at the usual restaurant just over the bridge as you leave the golf club.

The winner of today and the September Trophy winner was Bernard Romahn with 82 (best gross) for 40 points.

Runner up was Peter May with 104 for 36 points. Full results below:

It was a wet and rainy start this morning at Impian Golf & Country Club delaying our tee off till around 8:30am. Even then the rain continued for a good 5 holes or so …. and then cleared … and then rained again on the 2nd nine for a few holes. On the positive side the course conditions were very good and the weather very cool with all the rain. We had 3 flights today and 2 of the flights finished by around 1:30pm and the other flight slightly later as they had been further delayed due to a rain stop. After the game 5 of us had a good lunch at the Crab House Restaurant in Taman Kasturi.
I have photographed some strange things on many golf courses but today there was something REALLY strange … a fish … a very large half-eaten fish in the rough at the side of the fairway on the par 5 17th hole. Can only think a large bird of prey such as a large eagle had dropped this.

Our winner this week was Erol Akinci, fresh back from a long vacation, with 99 for 37 points, beating Stuart Taylor (84 for 37 points) on count back . Best gross of the day was Stuart Taylor with 84. Full results below:

Berjaya Hills Golf & Country Club is wonderfully located in the hills north east of KL offering scenic views and cool weather. It can be a real pleasure to play up here …. but not today. The course has been sadly neglected and with almost a total lack of maintenance the course is a total disgrace. Tees are shoddy, uneven and dug up in places, the fairways are untidy with many dug up areas due to wild boar activity, bunkers are very messy and in need of repair and re-sanding and the greens are potholed and patchy making putting a random lottery. The 17th green was totally sanded with large piles of sand at the edges of the green making it very difficult to make your approach and to putt. The hole itself was totally misshapen and ragged as shown below:

All in all very shoddy so I do not think we will be returning to this course for a long time unless the management get their act together to fix all the problems.
We had 5 flights today and we managed to tee off on separate holes to try and speed up play. Most players got round in a reasonable time and after the game we drove back down the hill to Kampong Tinggi to our old favourite 126 Restaurant.

The winner was Tony Morris with a score of 94 for 34 points. There were 3 runners up all on 32 poiunts; Ricardo Castro, Stan Constantinides and Bernard Romahn. Best gross was Ricardo Castro and Paul Geddes with 87. Full scores below:

Summary of the 20 most important rules changes for 2019.

We had 4 full flights today at Bukit Kemuning, with 2 flights teeing off on each of the nines at 8:00am. Weather conditions were pleasant and the course was relatively good making for some good scores today.
After the game we had a good lunch at the O&S Restaurant in Bukit Kemuning with a few nice cold beers.
The winner this week was Brian Stubbs with an excellent 95 for 42 points. Runner up was Ted Parslow with 83 for 39 points. Best gross today was Geoff McLaws with a 77. Full results tabulated below:
