Results – Bukit Kemuning – 7th July 2020

More sad news reached our group yesterday as Roger McGowan passed away on Tuesday morning after a long battle against cancer. Rest in peace Roger. We will keep the fond memories alive.

With one late cancellation due to family matters (hope things worked out Helmut!) 15 members joined the game at Bukit Kemuning. It was not very busy so registration and tee-off went smoothly. The course was in reasonable condition and the sun was shining so nothing wrong there. With nobody in front of us the first flight (a 3 ball; Mike W, Bernard and me) was back already before 11:30. Some other flights took a little longer than that.

10 of us assembled for lunch in New O&S Seafood including Barry Cousins. Thanks for booking and organizing the lunch Barry! Including 2 birthday contributions from Brian and Allan and a donation from Siggy the lunch bill was very very reasonable despite numerous Tigers.

Your convener had a very good golfing day and winning score of 90/44. It’s the golf magic surrounding Mike W. that shone upon me……….. Iain came in second with 92/39, followed by Dave 103/36

Results – Bukit Kemuning – 11th February 2020

A good turn out with 16 members ready to rumble early Tuesday morning. Some people were a bit late and somebody forgot his wallet but other than that no major hick hiccups (yet……). Although we all had to start at hole 1 we took off smoothly and finished the round around midday. The course was in reasonable condition although some of the greens were a bit dodgy. Dave lost his golf bag halfway the first hole, Roger lost something and came back wandering around on our green but we never found out what he lost and Tony nearly got his nose chopped off by a ball from Hans.

The real hick up started when we arrived at O&S seafood finding that they were closed! A good lesson for your convener who did not check upfront………….still young and a lot to learn. However, we worked out an alternative and ended up in Pantai seafood. The only one we could not get in touch with to announce the new venue was Erol who thus missed lunch and went home (sorry again Erol)

Allan generously contributed RM 100 for playing 100 LC games. He strongly opposes this number stating that it should be much more but nevertheless donated to the kitty. He almost won half of the amount back would he not have played my ball from the bunker on hole 11 and taking 2 penalties.

Today’s results; 3rd place with 36 Sf Iain. 40 Sf for both Allan and Ted; Ted winning OCB and raking up the RM 50.

Today’s mystery prize was for best performing flight and with both Ted and Allan in flight 2 it was a done deal. A sleeve of golf balls for all players in that flight.

Results – Bukit Kemuning – 5th November 2019

The scenario indicated it may be a good day at Bkt Kemuning, registration was smooth,  it was not very busy and no threatening dark clouds in sight.
Last time we played this course just after the hazy period, the fairways were hard and the greens grass stiff like a wire brush, today softer fairways and greens.
This course takes heavy downpour well and it suits seniors as one can drive on the fairways and for the prize of 321Rm a flight it’s very good value for money.
And I think for the first time we had three German players with the addition of Gerd Janotta who used to head the Continental Tyre factory in PJ.
We had the post-game lunch at the usual New O&S Seafood Restaurant, no prawns this time so only 50Rm ahead extra with the remains from the fee.

Results – Bukit Kemuning – 8th October 2019

imageWe ended up as four full flights after a pull-out and some late sign-ups.

My suggestion tee-off from blue was voted down in favor of white and looking at the scores it was the right one. Registration was nice and fluent as I penned down the date of birth on the form in advance.

The course was as usual with a mixture of mainly hard fairways, however, the greens grass were uneven and hard like a wire brush

Weather was nice when the high moisture was burned away. Perhaps due to the wind direction, the sky was full of very noisy landing airplanes which you could even hear having a shower

Eleven came for the lunch at Restaurant New O&C Seafood and with leftover after registration, we only emptied the wallet by 50Rm

Results

The winner Paul Collet 38 points, followed by Kevin Wiggins 37 and Jan van Driel 35.

Results – Bukit Kemuning Golf & Country Resort – 9th July 2019

Today we had only 11 players with 3 flights teeing off sharp before 8:00am. Given all the rain we had yesterday the course was in very good condition with minimal soggy patches. The greens were in very good shape and probably the best we have seen them to date.

The course was quiet this morning so we were all finished by around 12 noon. Weather conditions were very good and surprisingly cool for most of the round.

We had a good lunch at O&S restaurant after the game although the bill seemed rather more expensive than normal – maybe worth looking at alternatives or being a little more careful on what we order.

We were joined at lunch by Barry Cousins and Andrew Robinson.

Stuart Taylor had a “wardrobe malfunction” after the game with his change of clothes T-shirt ripping down one complete side. Not wanting to spend RM190 on a new shirt from the pro shop he boldly went to lunch in his used golf shirt much to the disgust of his adjoining members at the table whose nasal orifices were impinged upon.

Results

The winner again this week was Hans Berger with another great score of 96 for 41 points (did someone mention drug test!!). Runner up with a mere 86 for 36 points was Stuart Taylor. Full results below:

With 4 full flights we teed off on the first hole around 7:40am after the usual lengthy registration process. Weather was good and the course conditions were pretty good overall. Greens a little slow …. good excuse for the missed putts.

We were finished by 12:30pm then had a good lunch at O&S Restaurant closeby.

The winner today with 91 for 41 points was Iain Wise with Bernard Romahn runner up with 83 (Best gross) for 39 points. Full results below:

Results – Bukit Kemining – 2nd April 2019

Except for the walking members we were almost alone at Bkt Kemuning, both at the registration and on the course but after an hour or two it was quite few a players. .

Second nine was not ready to play so all four flights teed off from hole one. Course in good shape except for the sanded greens which was all of them. Weather a bit sticky at first however later we got a nice breeze, so overall a nice day out.

All except two came for the post game lunch at Restaurant New O&S Seafood, the food was very good as it usually is there, especially with a cold Tiger to it.

Results

Winner as many times before Tony Morris with 43 points, he had the lowest gross as well with 83. Second Allan Wright 38 and Martin Belderink third with 37 points.

We had an early start this morning at Bukit Kemuning at 7:30am sharp with our 4 flights heading off from the 1st tee. The morning was beautiful with clear blue skies and as the day wore on it became very hot. However the course was in good condition and we were not held up at all meaning a reasonable finish around 12:30pm then off to the O&S Restaurant for some food and much needed cold beverages.

Results

The winner today with a great score of 85 for 42 points was Stan Constantinides. Runner up was Brian Stubbs with 97/39 and 3rd place went to Joe Lacy with 91/38. Best gross of the day was Stan with his 85. Full results below :

Results – Bukit Kemuning – 7th November 2018

12 Loose Cannons played a very soggy Bukit Kemuning Golf & Country Resort today, as Tuesday was Deepavali.  Despite tee-ing off at ~7.30am, because the course was apparently heavily booked, the 3 flights were taken to the short par 3 Hole #13 and Flight 1 teed-off from that hole.  However, the starter took the other 2 flights on to #14 so they both teed-off from that hole, putting flight 1 behind the other 2 flights !  This was then compounded when we crossed over to #1 where other flights were waiting, so that another flight was introduced between our flights 3 & 1.  Anyway, we eventually all finished around the same time, after a rather slow round.

After heavy overnight & recent rain, the lower parts of the course were very water-logged, with a lot of standing water, and some bunkers were more like lakes. However further rain, which threatened towards the end of the round, held off so the more elevated parts of the course, played later, were generally drier & better.

Despite these conditions, scoring was generally good.   The winner today, celebrating his birthday, with a lowest gross of 81 for 40 points, was Ricardo Castro. Second was next week’s convenor, Martin Belderink & third, the late Bernard Romahn!

Ten of us then adjourned to our regular O&S Seafood restaurant, where we were joined by Barry Cousins, now sadly retired from regular golf.  The restaurant was very busy, presumably post-Deepavali, so the food was a bit slow to arrive.  Luckily the beer arrived much more quickly and overall the meal was relatively inexpensive, and helped by a Rm200 birthday contribution from Ricardo (thanks !).
