Results – KGSAAS – 21st January 2020

All arrived in good order to complete our registration in time and what did we see when we walked down to the starters hut, quite a number of Koreans in their buggies. With a little bit of pressure on the starter we managed to tee-off alone from the President nine.

The course is known for being soggy during the wet season, the President nine lived up to that, Alam Shah a bit better.

The greens which normally are quite good were not good either with spots of different speed, as a whole a disappointment.

But the food and service at the restaurant maintain its usual good quality and buy two jugs of beer and get one extra were still on offer.

Results

Despite the condition of the course  we had three players who played better than their handicap;

– Winner on count back, Paul Geddes with 38 points

– Runner up Iain Wise

– Third Ricardo Castro 37 points

Editors Note : Correction to scores …. Bernard Romahn should be 86 for 36 points and Josef Winter should be 105 for 24 points.

Results – Bangi Golf Club – 14th January 2020

Our strategy being very early didn’t workout really as while we were the first in line when reception opened the Koreans passed behind our back loading their bags on the buggies, how come, they had paid in advance. However once we got going they did not hold us up.

We had excellent golf weather and the course, and this comes from us who has played it several times, were in decent condition being the wet season and consider the low cost it’s rather good value for money.

Nine of us joined the lunch at East of Highway and it was as usual very good.

As this was the week for Tony Morris seventy years birthday he gave a great contribution for the bill.

Happy birthday Tony and many thanks.

So how did it go, almost the same as last week.

Results – Tasik Puteri Golf & Country Club – 7th January 2020

We welcomed Andrew Robinson back after nine month absence from golf due to his left eye. We were all ready to go well before our booked tee-time, but of course as usual we don’t know which of the three nines we will play until we have passed the “lonely lady” or rather the starter were we also get the score cards. Today we played Puteri and Tasik nines from white tee and Tasik was the one in better shape with drier fairways and better greens

After a hot day in the sun not much beat a cool Tiger beer or two at our usual Restaurant Chin Heong Rawang and we had a very good turn-up for the post game lunch today as it helps get the talking going.

Ricardo Castro, Stan Constantinides, Ted Parslow and David Evans shared second place with 36 points all beaten by Josef Winter with 37.

Editors Note : There were a number of errors in the results of this week. Correct scores for Ted Parslow was 89 for 35; for Roger Surieux 100 for 34 and for Josef Winter 93 for 36.

This meant a countback on the 3 players who were on 36 points. The resulting winner of this week was Stan Constantinides.

Results – Palm Garden Golf Resort – 31st December 2019

We played Palm Garden as it was the last monthly trophy for the year as we wanted to have a nice finish.

It wasn’t too many cars on the road this New Year Eve morning so for once I arrived in very good time. Registration went smoothly but that place is like a children play school with cutting, gluing, stamping vouchers, anyway we were ready to go before our tee-off time. Weather looked promising and the course was in a very good shape except for some greens which were a bit slower.

We had the post game lunch at the clubs restaurant which was about half-full.

Happy New Year Loose Cannons

The winner today and his second monthly trophy for the year, Tony Morris with 39 points.

Results _ Danau Golf Club – 24th December 2019

Twelve Loose Cannons assembled early morning 24th of December for our traditional Christmas golf, this year at Kelab Golf Danau located next to UKM in Bangi. After Mondays heavy rain we were sort of expecting a soggy course, but it was not bad at all, even the known soggy hole 12 par five was in relative good shape.

It took us five hours due slow flights in front of us, but the course as such plays tough from the rough, not to mention to find the ball in there as well as the very tricky Parslow & Winter greens. And even from white it’s not short with its 5921 meters.

We had the post game lunch at our usual East of Highway on the way back to KL, excellent food ordered by Tony Morris for our Christmas lunch.

Results

Not unexpected the known long-hitters / good players was at the top of the scoreboard after the game.

Winner Julien Hodson Walker on 36, followed by Jason Winter 35 and Ricardo Castro with 34 points, very close at the top it was.

Results – KGPA – 17th December 2019

Living just a stone-throw from KGPA and having had more or less the same downpours I was a bit worried about the course  conditions, but it was not too bad, soggy sections of some holes yes, but playable sometimes with a little of ball movement.

Good golf weather, nice venue but the city is coming closer and closer, next up is a hotel squeezed in next to the Phileo Semantan MRT-station.

We had a good post game lunch at Pantai Seafood Restaurant, but only 50% of the players attended…..

I was in the same buggy as Ian Wise, and surprise surprise when he pulled the bag cover off, there was no driver. But it did not hurt him at all, almost as long with the 3-wood from the tee-box and on the fairway.

Results

Result from the testing elements; three players on 37 points, Jan van Driel won with best second nine.

Results – Amverton Cove Golf & Island Resort – 10th December 2019

We were just one short of two flights at Amverton Cove today, the sky looked promising and we had only a couple of flights in front of us when we teed off from the blue tee-box.  But that was a false impression as the first flight in front held us all back, so we were waiting and waiting until Iain Wise got the opportunity to voice our concern over their slow play.
The course was in good condition but played a few shots more than normal as it had been raining lately.
We had to fork out 60Rm each for the M&M, a bit more than we expected as our birthday boy did not stay for lunch, next time Jan van Driel.

Results

Ricardo Castro being the better player this day won with 34, Roger Surieux came second with 30 points.

Results – Seri Selangor – 3rd December 2019

An easy ride to Seri Selangor this morning as the traffic was less then normal probably due to the schools are off for the rest of the year. Construction work was going on e.g. expanding parking and it looks like they will upgrade the locker room, we look forward to that, don’t we.

Weather was just fine for golfing and the course was in the best condition I ever played it I think except for certain sections of hole 18. We had the post game lunch at Pantai Seafood Restaurant, plenty of guests, noisy and good food, lovely place.

Results

So how did it go, we had Ted Parslow in our flight and the way he was hitting the ball from the tee-box I thought here we have today’s winner, but but the 34 points was only enough for second place. Ricardo Castro played even with the course enough to win on 36 and Martin Belderink rounded up the podium with 33 points.

Results – Staffield – 26th November 2019

We were met with a blue sky and lite breeze when we arrived Staffield early morning Nov 26 for the November Champion game and for a change in comparison quite a smooth registration.
Obviously, it had been raining overnight as the workers were busy returning the bunkers sand to its place, others than that the course was in good condition. It became a bit hot later in the game, luckily the breeze increased to compensate for the heat. I noted that the sky was unusually deep blue in some places, very nice.
Postgame lunch at clubs restaurant, the good flow of Carlsberg Smooth Draught compensated for a bit late arrival of the dishes.

Results

We played here two months ago for the September Champion game, today’s scores were not as good as the course played a few shots more:
– Shared 3rd the English Tony Morris and the French Roger Surieux 35 points
– Second the Dutch Martin Belderink 37 points
– And the winner the English Brian Stubbs with 38 points

Results -Tasik Puteri – 19th November 2019

For a change I was first at Tasik Puteri sitting more or less alone in the restaurant waiting for the other players to arrive, is it you Hans!
The sky looked promising but the course did not as it had been thoroughly drenched overnight, never seen it so wet i.e. playable but not easy. We played Puteri and Putera nines from white some played quite well I myself felt like a beginner.
Off to Chin Hiong for M&M after the game, Tony ordered an excellent choice of dishes.

Results

It was close at the top, Tony with 35 and Bernard and Siegmund shared second with 33 points.
